I have a funny relationship with this song, I had to write a paper for a college class about how cultures interpret art in different ways. I decide to write about how the different versions of the songs show the different perspectives on Gustavus Adolphus. To make a long story short, I listened to the Swedish version so many times that I had the lyrics memorized. Fast forward a whole pandemic, Sabaton was playing a last-minute show in Denver where the audience picked the songs. To troll the crowd, they started singing the Swedish Version...
That's when I knew my time had come, I was the only person in my section who knew the lyrics.

I actually found that out after I uploaded the video, which is awesome. Like I said in the pop-up, a lot of the time the people in costumes like that are part of the crew. Rob Zombie is super notorious for that as well. I think it's more surprising to me that it IS Joakim in the outfit. Haha

I cannot imagine how exhausted the band is by the end of a single stop, let alone the end of a tour. This triple reaction was so much fun, and I agree. Par's bass tone is just fantastic. So are all the instruments tbh. They know *exactly* where the tone needs to be.

Great one....or is that great three? ;)
    A few inputs:
    1. There really is a differance between the English version and the Swedish. It is not quite as big a difference as A life time of war/En livstid i krig, but the entire album is differnt enough lyrics wise to almost feel like 2 totalt different albums..as a Swede that is.
    2. In the MV you didn´t miss the fist bumps with Amaranthe, right? ;)
    3. Regarding the number of trucks and busses: You can most problobly divide it by 2. Europe and especially Sweden has really strict regulations regarding the amount of time a truck/bus driver are allowed to drive, so most of the trucks/buses on this tour probobly has 2 drivers a piece to be able to keep rolling non-stop
    4. And this is an important one........ Still no Avatar? I really need a GUitar tech to tell me if they are having sex with their guitars on "Hail the apocalypse", or if they just are abusing the shit out of them ;)
    5. As stated in the beginning: Great!!! Keep em coming :)

    • @Handygamer
      @Handygamer Před 3 lety +7

@@eddiewinehosen6665 yeah, I was gonna jump on that one as well. With 12 drivers, it's most certainly 5-6 trucks and 3-4 busses (maybe they have some drivers as reserve, idk). And it's not only Sweden, but I can also attest to Germany having super strict regulations regarding driving hours, mandatory rests etc.
As a sidenote: I'm not exactly 100% certain, but I think the guy with the gas mask that @TankTheTech chose for a still to talk about stagehands is actually Joakim himself.

As a Swede this whole album is a patriotic ride through both epic and sad feelings. It evokes a lot of patriotism, especially in Swedish. When I listen to it, I listen to the whole album in one go, from start to finish, as its best enjoyed.
Also: I play this album in the background when I dominate the world as Sweden in EU4. #SwedenIsNotOverpowered

Hey Tank love your reaction/roadie view tech analasys and most for all your unbridled rockin soul. As a fellow sabaton fan and a german born in Berlin i just wanna throw in another recommendation, of a sabaton masterwork that doesnt have as much of a reaction on youtube, which manages to move me to tears almost always when im listening to it: Hearts of Iron
In closing please keep being awesome and all the best from across the pond.

Fashion Fact - Nice of Apocalyptica to wear matching "Urban Camo" trousers (pants) that Sabaton seem to wear as part of their band's uniform.
Urban Camouflage is a derivative of the US M81 Woodland Pattern Camouflage, but with shades of grey used to reflect an urban environment. It was first seen in the late 1990's. Whilst it was highly sought after by Hollywood studios, hip hop artists, and used by third world militias and police forces, it was never actually adopted other than for occasional "enemy forces" roles by the US Military.

King Gustav II Adolf most definitely participated in the Thirty years war bringing Sweden into the European conflict. 1632 however in Leipzeig, during a mix of fog and blackpowder mist he charged the Imperial forces most likely by himself when he lost sights of the cavalry he was leading. His actual clothes and horse are at display in Stockholm, Sweden. You can see his blood still. The war continued however

They actually shot a whole series of BTS videos for both this tour and the 2018 North America tour, it's seriously funny stuff. Most of the footage from the music video is clips from the Great Tour series.

Watched this right away from the Patreon link, just being late with commenting but here goes... Great and informative reaction! I don't think I've ever seen you so happy in a reaction video. From the smile and glance in your eyes it looked like you were opening a Christmas present when watching the 2nd video 😊 The way you learn about Swedish history in combination with your beard, people will soon think you're a Swedish immigrant. This song is one of my top fav by Sabaton (even if it's really hard to choose. almost no song that I dislike (I quit adding Sabaton to my metal/rock playlist, would have ended up being 90% Sabaton, I just downladed all albums instead)).

Regarding bus and lorry drivers - the laws in Europe are extremely strict regarding the amount of time someone can drive a heavy vehicle without having a rest. And by rest I mean 45 minutes every four hours or something, plus 15 minute stops and then mandatory eight hour stops after a certain number of hours too. An actual lorry driver would be able to give you the exact details but it’s common knowledge here that they have to stop a lot! Drivers have tachographs which log hours and rest and are checked at mandatory stops in all European countries to ensure compliance. It’s likely, therefore, that there are two drivers per lorry (and probably bus) so that they can be driven continuously.

As a swede I have to say I am partial to the swedish version of this song... of Any of the songs from that album actually... The lyrics are slightly different to make them work in the respective languages, but that is not all, to hear the songs of the swedish empire in my own language is an almost spiritual experience as I journey through our history XD

I have to share this feeling because I hope you and others will understand it. @10:36 the intro lures you in with peace and calm, and when I am at a live show, I look around and see everyone feeling those same things, maybe catching their breath from moshing, everything is still. I can't help but think that a lot of these people don't know what is coming and there is nothing they can do to stop it. @11:00 there is a slight pause then all hell breaks loose, instantaneous mosh pit and chaos everywhere. I hope all Sabaton fans get to experience this one day. Certainly one of my most favorite feelings of any concert I've been to, it is truly explosive energy.
The footage of the Stockholm concert really brings that feeling out, and the large screen hypnotizes you with the flame burning. I can't say enough good things about this song.
