    Which screen protector lasted out longest before cracking down the centre hinge line? My previous Flip 3 lasted only 6 months before it cracked! In the UK, there were no walk in repair shops, Samsung wanted me to post it to them and was quoted 2 weeks before it would be returned!

    I really want to know the percentage of failures for say 100-300 phones. Let’s say it’s 10%. That terrible but wouldn’t be caught by a test of only 1-2 phones. Real question I have is, if I go from a non foldable to a foldable phone, what is the probability of a folding related failure? Did any of the manufactures reveal this failure rate?

    • @fogkid
      @fogkid Před rokem

      There shouldn't be a "folding failure rate" as this devices should have undergone different set of standards before it is released in the market. If let's say that the Motorola phone in their live fold testing is indeed a "rare" case where the hinge failed after roughly not even half of the company's claim, then that means that there is a big problem on the Motorola company. They shouldn't really release substandard quality phone.

    I have the razr+ and hinge (even if I had
    the samsung) is a worry (or not)
    I wonder though should not... that you're generating heat and that may damage the bushing style system on the razr+
    but 400k implies not... hmmm mot.. may have to look into that!
    I've now installed a fold counter to see what 40k folds would mean to me ..

    I don't care, I am still getting this phone. You can do most of whatever it is you want to do while it's folded and don't have to opening it for most of the day.
    I will probably be buying a new phone after a year, a year and a half of owning this phone, as most people do so what is the big deal.
    I LOVE AND WANT THE MOTOROLA RAZR ULTRA 40, IN MAGENTA ❤

    • @baryton76
      @baryton76 Před rokem +3

      They tested flip 4 last year and it did very well. Much more than claimed by Samsung that is why they think that flip 5 will not be different.

    • @Arkan_Fadhila
      @Arkan_Fadhila Před rokem +3

  • @adelaidecity76
    @adelaidecity76 Před rokem

    There's nothing wrong with doing a test like this BUT it's not at all definitive. You can't base the reliability of a specific model on the whole based on one unit. I'm not saying that the experiment is not valid at all but statistically a one unit test is very dubious. There are people out there with Z Flip 4s that have lasted a couple of months yet on this channel's test it lasted for ages. That's just the way it goes!

  • @Alexc-kc9dm
    @Alexc-kc9dm Před rokem +3

    Great team, thanks for doing this test, I was surprised for Motorola hinge since it's very similar to Samsung hinge and I believe Samsung is supply for other companies who make flip phones. Also Motorola screen died because the guy that was testing it, put a bit much pressure to the bottom of the screen while others that were flipping Samsung, they were holding the phone on the sides, not screen.

  • @andyH_England
    @andyH_England Před rokem +1

    It's great stuff but sadly statistically one test will not prove anything. It could have been a dud, damaged in production or a part (screen included) could have been weaker than specified. From experience, the Flip 4 had a relatively high fail rate, nothing that was newsworthy but it seems inevitable that some flip phone users will be unlucky and have a device fail. The nature of the form factor.

  • @pavan5502
    @pavan5502 Před rokem +1

    I agree that Samsung's hinge is stronger than Razr plus's hinge, but I am not sure how this test explains the average person's usage of flip phones opening and closing like 50 - 60 times a day vs 40000+ a day 🤔. On the contrary, how many of those units did you try before confirming the phone's break point? Have you tried testing multiple phones of the same brand simultaneously? If it's me doing this kind of test, then I would do tests on 10 phones of the same model and the same brand, and I would have determined my test results out of 10 phones.

  • @SWACBUZZ
    @SWACBUZZ Před rokem +1

    Could be a defective unit, but that's unfortunate. Test should have 6 people at a time with 3 folding a Razr+ and 3 folding a Flip 5. That way we know if it's a defect or not.

    • @fogkid
      @fogkid Před rokem +3

      These phones should have undergone testing before it was released in the market. If that phone is indeed a "defect" then it's a huge problem for Motorola company. They can't release substandard phone out in the market. You can't tell consumers "Buy our phone, it's a hit or miss whether you got a good foldable phone hinge or not".
