    Hey all! Hope you enjoyed the video. Let me know what other gens you want to see? I'm thinking gen 1 or 8 as my next, but I'll figure that out soon enough. I've also got some different content cooking aside from these team builders. I'll run out of gens eventually lol.
    Anyway, here's my current gen 6 rng playlist: czcams.com/video/w4bGvLEIue8/video.html

    i remember helping a friend with their VGC 2016 team by trying to get their kyogre and rayquaza. i didn't know about rng manipulation so i just sat down and spent all day every day for a few weeks over the summer soft resetting. i did manage to get the modest 5 IV kyogre after a million years, but i gave up on the rayqauza eventually. if an unemployed high schooler on summer break doesn't have enough time to do it, then i think maybe the system is bad

      Things have got so easy in Gen 8, you can:
      1. get guaranteed 4 Max IV pokemons via dynamax adventure and raid battles
      2. farm Bottle Caps and easily maximize your pokemon's all 6 IVs with just 75 BP (assuming you purchased the DLC) with seriously overpowered Calyrex and Zacian
      3. earn lots of Exp. Candies to grind mons faster with Raid Battles (this means it's easier to reach level 100 in gen 8 to apply some caps)
      4. hatch eggs with perfect IVs and egg moves easier with easily available box and more accessibilities over generations
      5. get mint to easily change a pokemon's nature with just 50 BP
      Sure, you would just hatch some eggs to get Perfect IV pokemons since it cost less BP and pretty easy to get, but you don't really have to grind full 10~15 Hours just to get Legendaries and Event pokemons with good IVs.

      Nothing gets sudden bans in VGC. Smogon is another topic, but i think most play it on Showdown nowadays anyways.
      Meta shift is possible, but breeding as shown in the video, isn't too tedious and the restricted format would always move around Groudon / Rayquaza / Kyogre / Xerneas during OR/AS. Getting those again because you want to tweek their IV's would be very frustrating though.

    • @Faude18
      @Faude18 Před 8 měsíci +2

      @bonjouritsready Před 5 měsíci +3

      At that point, that’s a decision you’ve made. There’s 0 skill in acquiring your chosen Pokémon, running in circles, turning the game on and off again. The only thing that requires any skill is getting the old BP items, even then, the battle tower is easy. The skill in team composition is theorycrafting, testing, adjustments, identifying strengths and weaknesses, mastering the modes within the team and finally, knowing all your calcs. THAT is the hard work that takes skill and knowledge. Hatching a million eggs is just dead time. If you’ve chosen to be that guy who neglects that work to focus on eggs, then that’s the consequences of your own decision to focus on the wrong thing

      @Mimiyan_or_Pikapikafan Před 5 měsíci

      Nothing gets banned unless there's a glitch in VGC, but meta developments or a new regulation... Those are the main frustrations. I'm really glad Gen 8 made competitive much more accessible then before in-game. Outright showing in the PC if IVs are perfect or not, Trading watts for luxury balls and then selling them for quick vitamins for quick EVing. Mints changing in-perfect natures to ones used in competitive and Gen 7's Hyper Training coming back, ability capsules and the ability patches (though it costs a lot to get these). I hope SV can be like Gen 8 when it comes to building teams in-game. The vitamin stuff was really good but only possible because of raid re-loading. So here to be able to afford a trip to any big tournaments one needs a full time job, and even then it might take 2 months to afford it without taking into account rent or food. Between cooking my own food, eating, working and sleeping i'd usually have around 3 hours to play pokemon to make a team. At 3 hours a day this would result in over 20 days to get the team without pp up. That's almost a full month using all my free time in preparing a team, hoping that it would work well in the tournament, because you most possibly have no time between finishing the team and going to the big tournament to test your team and much less to correct mistakes or holes in your team if you had any. That shows why in all my time playing vgc while trying to avoid any hacking method I only got 1 decent result, a top 4 in 2016 at a 132 people event, which was not even an official big tournament like nationals or regionals.

    This was a great video, Gen 6 is easily one of the most frustrating games to look back on because they did so much, but could've done so much more if they had simply been given a third version/sequel like every other generation before it. Super Training has a lot of potential when it comes to unveiling the mysteries of EV training, so if they improved its transparency and speed in future games, it could've made for an interesting and engaging alternative to grinding on wild Pokemon. Especially since the Reset bags are easily the fastest way to change a Pokemon's EVs if the Meta happens to shift. That being said, It's impressive that standard breeding is actually faster than RNG Manips and Blissey bases are still easily the best way to grind for EXP in any Pokemon game and it's a damn shame that they didn't come back in BDSP. I love how relaxed you were for the EV Training and breeding making for a great showcase of just how much these small changes improved player experience for these games.
    I love how the Raichu was fittingly, the most difficult Pokemon to obtain in this run. Combine that with the incredibly unique EV spread and it's not hard to see why this Pokemon upset some people especially since there were multiples of them. It makes for a very visible target even if there is a chance that its natural, the odds of it being genned are so obviously high that it brought the issue to the forefront of the Pokemon community. Doesn't help that gen 6 made some pretty decent strides in availability, (some of which were unfortunately not available for this video) but this was definitely at least 1 gen too early to really start questioning the validity of Pokemon like this. Anti-genning communities like The Silver League have existed since gen 4, but these increases in availability really encouraged a lot more newer players to adopt this mentality.

While EV training in SwSh with vitamins is faster, it doesn't scratch that same gameplay itch that horde battles do. No problem with PKHex and RNG manipulator (I don't know what it is called exactly), but after getting the mismatch error, having to adjust the IVs etc. and getting it done, I was amazed that it actually worked and felt like a king. Fantastic video with every detail anyone could want to know! I was looking forward to you doing Gen. VI because I knew little about Gen. VI until today.
    Gen. VI was a weird stepping stone in VGC because on one hand, most QoL improvements made things easier and made it possible to get perfect mons without RNG (literal years in Gen. IV vs. 85 hours in Gen. VI). On the other hand, Gen. VI RNG was so much more brutal than Gens. III-V that almost no one bothered back then.
    When I started prepping for VGC14, I loathed the hexagon requirement because it meant no transfers (so no Gen. V easy RNG). Pre-Bank, breeding was painful (took me 8 hours to get a 5 IV mon). Upon Bank release, I transferred a 6IV Ditto and things became... reasonable. Yeah it still took hours to breed mons, but there was no need for RNG. The only non-breedable mons in VGC14 were the Kanto birds and certain event mons like Ice Punch Tyranitar (which got 2nd at Worlds). That year, all you needed to do was breed and you could have a team. To players like me who were spoiled with Gen. V RNG, it was a downgrade - way longer and no shinies. But to the average player? It was the first year competitive teams were accessible - all you needed to do was breed.
    VGC15 was my last year before my retirement. Given a combo of frame-perfect timing and the save variable, the consensus on Gen. VI RNG for legendaries was "don't". The public expectation among players was to soft-reset for legendaries, even when it took an average of 85 hours (Nugget Bridge, the hub of VGC then, had a guide basically saying "this will take weeks, you should do it if you want to win"). The private reality is that most players probably hacked. This is especially notable since most of the best mons that year were legendaries. Without RNG, my friend and I settled for 31 in HP/(Sp.) Atk/Speed and 28-31 in defenses. A 1 point sacrifice to cut our average hours to ~10. I even reset my game on a shiny Thundurus because the IVs were wrong!
    I would quit VGC later that year due to increasing schoolwork and a resignation that I'd never match my performances in Gen. V. Seeing the teams built and the training methods available for VGC16-VGC19, I'm happy I didn't spend those years grinding, but I did miss competing.
    Gen. VIII has been amazing because of Exp. Candy and Watts. Yeah it takes a while to set up a save file with resources, but once you have them, training is super quick. This is the most accessible VGC has been! While it's still tedious (Dynamax Adventures requiring coordination is bad, grinding Dynite Ore for Ability Patch is bad, doing 100+ raids for candy/Armorite Ore->Watts is okay), it doesn't feel that much worse than, say, beating the story. Here's to the hope Gen. IX is even better. Please Game Freak don't make Terastalize marks raid-exclusive.
    Blisy, I look forward to seeing your recreation of Naoto Mizubuchi and Eduardo Cunha's teams!

No modification is made, no rules broken, just exploiting the game’s internal mechanics as they were implemented to get a result you want. Next you’re gonna tell me that blissey bases are cheating because gamefreak didn’t intend the base feature for level grinding…

    I think your point about breeding being kind of therapeutic in this game compared to previous gens is important to flag up. They did a lot in gen 6 to make the process not only quicker but also *feel* less like a chore, such as horde battles giving you a feeling of really quick progress in EV training, as well as giving you a visualization of your EVs in the super training menu which always gave me a sense of accomplishment back in the day when when the training was done and I saw that chart split up exactly according to my designs

Someone else made it for them, and traded to them exactly what they needed. They themselves are "not knowledgeable enough" to determine it is hacked, and therefore if the game says it is legit that means it is legit. It's the perfect workaround. Lots of people want to help them because they are high level players, so it is not outrageous to imagine people would be more than happy to trade them very good Pokemon. The players have the perfect cover. The game says its legit, how would they know that it's hacked? Right?
