COMING BACK FROM AN ACHILLES INJURY (FULL RECOVERY JOURNEY) With Workouts And Motivation

- In late April 2022 I tore my achilles in a professional basketball game and had to have surgery. In 8.5 months I did rehab and therapy to get my strength and quickness back. Finally in January 2023 all of the hard work paid off and I returned unrestricted back to professional basketball. This video is to help inspire and motivate those who are struggling with an injury and anything in life that you can overcome whatever it is you are going through. And by taking it one day at a time, you can accomplish overcoming your obstacles like I did.
Hope you enjoy!.

I am week 6 post surgery and already behind you in rehab. Your progress at 3 months is insane, it's what people at 6-8 months accomplish! Congrats on your recovery!
Shoutout to Reggie for this video. Im currently 4 weeks post surgery and working to get strong and back to my best. Its a long road but like Reggie did it, it must be one day at a time. You will come right
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words!!!?
Congrats on your recovery. Your progress from day 70-100 was incredible. I’ve unfortunately hit a flat spot during that period but hope to pick up the pace a bit. Best of luck to you
I ruptured mine yesterday. Well done on your recovery. If i learned anything is that it will take time.
Great video. Thank you.
Just had surgery and it was tough trying to understand the timeline from paper sheets my doctor has given me. This video was so helpful for understanding the whole process. Thanks for putting the time in to put this together and show the whole progression of recovery 👊🏾
Thank you for posting this video Reggie. I’m three weeks post surgery. I know it’s a long road till I can ball and run again. I’m staying positive and this video helps me keep the positive mindset. I appreciate you posting this journey.
Thank you for watching, best of luck on your journey!
Bro, I tore a tendon a few days ago and now I'm on my way to surgery (tomorrow)
I'm not a pro athlete, but good at playing at the amateur level
Your video is so inspirational, I hope I will be back strong soon💪🏾
Thank you so much for watching!, I’m glad it helped!.
Best of luck to you, I hope you will heal fast man!🙏🏽
I broke my tendon on March 12th, during a championship basketball game, I'm 31 years old and I've been playing since I was 4, I'm not a professional but I play at a very good level, I feel like I'll never be able to recover my old-fashioned athletic form, explosiveness, sprint, reflexes, etc. It's a bad injury, I had surgery on March 29th and I'll wear a cast until May 3rd then a brace for I don't know how long. To this day I no longer see an end guys.
I would advise to find an alternative option to be in a boot rather than a cast for that long. I’m sure your situation is different but I think the sooner you can get that tendon mobile the easier the rest of the path will be.
I was operated on at the best orthopedic hospital in Italy, every athlete is operated on there, Rizzoli Hospital, fortunately I am from the city, so I would have had the surgery there anyway.
I was given the walker or cast option, pre-op, but then the surgeon chose the cast and then I will probably wear the brace after the cast.
Wow! I have recovered my hope thanks to you. I ruptured my Achilles tendon in the training, as soon as I fell I said basketball is done for me, this is my second week post surgery and I can’t think about living without balling , you’re truly inspirational 🔥🔥🔥
I’m very happy this video has helped inspire you! Best of luck with the return back! It will happen!
Thanks 4 the inspiration!! And the full recovery process. I’m an athlete & US Veteran. So I’m looking to come back strong.
You got this man, don’t give up, trust me the journey will come to an end!.
Thank you for this!
thank you and you are welcome!

Thank you so much for watching!.
This would have been my journey too if not for the wrong assessment by a so called pro doctor. But still your journey sir is really an inspiration. I'm now settled in biking walking no jogging no basketball anymore. More blessings to you sir.
Best of luck with your athletic endeavors!
Very inspiring, thanks for The motivation 😭
thank you for watching!.
So inspiring bro!!!
Thank you so much for watching!
1 week in and going with non-surgery. So scared I wont get back to basketball or tennis. Thank you for the motivation!
Some say no surgery is best route. Me being a professional basketball player, it was my best/only option. Wishing you the best man.
Thanks for this!
Hank you for watching!💪🏽
Bro, inspirational man! Good luck to your basketball journey!
thanks very very much!
Thanks for the reply! Had to watch the video again. Got me teary eyed near the end seeing you block that shot. How can the second view feel even more inspirational? Insane, thank you!
Awesome video!
I'm 7 weeks post op and was truly feeling like i'll never actually run or jump again (the way my calf feels) but you just encouraged me to trust the process and i'm hoping to be dunking again now... again, awesome video and props on the edits yourself!
It was a LOT of WORK to make this video!, editing takes forever! The process of coming back takes MUCH longer than my editing skills!, however just like the end to finally making this video, there is an end to the recovery!. Make sure you take it day by day and you’ll be back. Best of luck!.
Thank you for sharing Reggie! I'm on day 51. One day at a time is right... Best of luck on your b-ball journey!
thanks very much!!!!!

Thanks very much!
Reggie, how much of a gap did you have with your tendon rupture? I just had surgery on mine and I had a 2 cm gap. I’m trying to stay positive about returning to athletics. Thanks for your video.
Mine actually never fully separated, clean tear without separating, may have saved me a month. Thank you for watching !
Awesome video, im 4 weeks post op and have had a hard time with nerve pain/cramping in my foot and toes and was wondering if you had the same experience?
I did not exactly have that experience, but I would recommend making sure to do as much mobility work as you can. Will help break up scar tissue !
Amazing story! I’m 3 months post op feeling good. What you do with swelling?
luckily I didn't have very much swelling. they say the earlier you take the rehab seriously and rest it properly the less swelling there will be for the rest of the journey. but when the workouts ramp up and you get that swelling icing and resting is really the only way to go about it. hope this helps.
Not sure if you remember this but- When were you able to do Single leg calf raises with your left leg?
I would say somewhere around month 3-4. Not exactly sure but after the boot was off!.
Did they tell you why it happened initially or did you have an injury before, not stretching that muscle or something? Or just out of the blue?
The movement I made that tore it is something I’ve done thousands of times, just a Freak accident. It’s a movement I’m even making now post surgery!.
Hi, since what month did you stop feeling pain?
Pain went away basically after month 3 in terms of the scarring. But I’m sure if I rushed back pain would return. The idea is to not feel pain, and only feel the Achilles strengthening!.
how painful was your leg after 6 months post op?
it wasn't painful but it was stiff and needed to have scar tissue broken up. that's where the higher intensity workouts came in.
I love you
