- Learn how to cook filet mignon in a cast iron skillet for next time a craving hits and you're out of charcoal, or you're just feeling plain old lazy and don't want to grill.
You can cook an awesome filet, ribeye, or sirloin in your cast iron skillet if you remember a few basic tips:
1. Take your steak out of the fridge about 1-2 hours before you cook it.
2. Preheat your cast iron skillet.
3. If you're cooking a thick cut of meat like a filet, finish it in the oven so the fire department doesn't show up at your house because the smoke detectors are going off.
... There are more tips, but you'll have to watch the video!

Good call on the Worcester sauce in the butter
I had excellent results using this method! Thx for a great explanation.
Great to hear!Honestly that was when we first started and didn't know how to film and edit correctly...surprised you made it through hahahaha..
Looks delicious!
Yeah... I can definitely see why..its crazy because when asked what it takes like...im not sure I can put a finger on it....but we liked it for sure
I actually am about to cook this for the first time. Thanks for the help brother!
Dont be scared of smoke. Its the brother of cast iron. If u have a microwave with a fan vent definitely use it. And lastly let it rest
@@TheFlatTopKing thanks for the tip! I’m gonna watch this video again while I do it lol
@@nj4209 god i just watch it i think for the first time since I posted it and I couldn’t even get through it. Ive learned alot since then. Thanks for watching especially 2times🤣🤣🤣
Well how did we do.
@@TheFlatTopKing got it down! A lil on the medium side but all good! Made some asparagus and shrimp with some garlic butter sauce.
The fresh haircut really makes this video ;).
🤣😂🤣😂😂🤣.
Like your style! Thanks:)) my dog too!!
Do it all in the Cast.
Go Navy! I had many delicious meals during my 20 years at sea and onshore. I appreciate you sharing your knowledge. Really like the cast iron steak meal - awesome. Question for you: how do you clean your cast iron skillet when something sticks or has dried? Keep making the great videos; I'm certain your channel subscribers will climb.
Terry Duprie Thanks for the kind words.
I just finished a video about pancakes on my Camp Chef Flat Top grill that kinda explains what to do on stuck on food. I am also making a multi used cast iron skillet video on how to clean and why.
In a nutshell remove skillet from heat. Always use HOT water. Try to Deglaze your skillet with water and that basically uses steam to remove food. Just don’t add to much because it will lower the temp of the cast iron to quick. Wipe out and
re oil good to go.
That juice looks amazing actually. Thyme, Rosemary, and W sauce, on that butter and garlic looks insane, definitely gonna pick up some walmart steak tomorrow and pick up a cast iron grill
I have some videos u might like on how to season your new cast iron. U can also check out my website
Thecharcoalking.com. Ha haha. You like those plugs🤣. I like the extra the w sauce adds.
@@TheFlatTopKing Yeah I was not kidding I picked up my cast iron and some fillets, I'm definitely going to look how to season it, thank you so much and Heck yeah brother I love everything you got!!!
@@GR44N i appreciate the kind words. Take your time in the seasoning process. Do it right the first time will save you so much headache. What kind of cast iron did u buy.
@@TheFlatTopKing I hadn't looked at your website yet and I wish I would have used your recommendations. I bought a cheap 'ol cast iron from Walmart, and I didn't season correctly. But that's ok I plan to buy your suggested equipment and use your process for seasoning on my next go at it!
On another note, the fillet I cooked was amazing. I think your process helped me nail it, I can now see how good the steak on your video must taste, incredible. Charcoal King thanks for posting this definitely I love it!
Love you guys...bravo
Thanks so much....that video was horrible...we have gotten a lot better since then...well we thinks so
What the hell is going on?
You didn't really treat your wife's as good with the basting. Looks great though.
🤣
What the hell is going on? You get the big piece the wife gets the small piece that's not a good sign. You get all the seasonings the butter and all the other seasonings the wife gets none that's not a good sign of being a good husband so what the hell is going on
Trust me she aint starving..Maybe she likes hers different than mine...
Focus on your subscribers, not on your haircut and your ego. Produce things that give people value. This is a waste of people's time
