    I'm getting ready to do my first iTalki lesson and this video was really helpful. I'm actually very nervous about mangling my learning-language and embarrassing myself in front of a native speaker, but Daria was so cool and took it all in stride. She carried the conversation and helped you along. If they're all like her, I'll feel really good about ruining someone's mother tongue.

    As a fellow aspiring "polyglot" currently studying several languages on my own (including Russian, which I'm most focused on as I type this), I can certainly relate to the difficulties that you're having here. My biggest problem with Russian is the changing spellings of common words when they're used in different sentences (esp how the spellings of "numbers" change). I'd still say that you're far ahead of me, though - and I've been drilling Russian quite a bit lately. Keep up the good work!! :)

    Now that I've been studying Russian for a year..this is funny because I'm sure I sounded like that in the beginning..lol
    If anyone is just starting out..Even though it may seem hard..just use the language everyday..Watch shows, read books..music..etc..Talk with natives as soon as possible.
    You'll get there..I'm just now putting a bow on cases..lol

      talkhtw55 You talk to them about the same things you would speak about in English. Focus on things you're interested in first..And expand from there.. I can't talk to anybody about rocket science in Russian, but I can talk about fishing, cooking and music all day:) We even talk about jobs, family, dreams..just like here. As you talk to more people u have the same convo over and over:
      Привет, как дела?(Hello, how are you)
      у меня все хорошо(everything's good)
      как ты?(How you)
      нормально.(Fine)
      что ты делаешь?(What are you doing)
      Just like u would say to someone here..You'll see:) Just stick with it..everyday.
      I'm still learning now, but I remember being where you are when I first started:) You'll look back at this convo in about 6 months and laugh..Cheers

    The learner may want to put his head in the book a little more. Is the language a priority for him? This seems more of social internet entertainment rather than a serious learning experience. The teacher is quite patient, extremely patient. Good for her. A baby spoon approach would be more appropriate. Baby steps. Baby steps.

    • @azimamuhammad4525
      @azimamuhammad4525 Před 7 lety +1

      No it isn't, I've learned many languages and Chinese is one of them; it's harder than Russian only because of the four different tones and how you have to memorize at least 1000 characters just to read their language. If you say a tone wrong, then you'll probably look stupid speaking it, that's my main issue I have with Chinese. I'm going to learn Chinese again during the summer, because I gave up on it and chose to do Russian and Portuguese instead. Also, easy part about Chinese would be how short their words are and how similar their grammar is to English, but if you're good at memorizing stuff and saying tones correctly, then Chinese will be easy for you.

    • @azimamuhammad4525
      @azimamuhammad4525 Před 7 lety

      I'm using Duolingo, listening to radio and watching tv shows/movies in Russian without English subtitles everyday or with Russian subtitles. And I also read a bit of it sometimes. The thing I'm struggling with is Nominative and Accusative, don't know what the other two are called. But, learning a language while seeing English subtitles doesn't really help me, it's better to listen to a language you're learning everyday without subtitles.

    I did classes in person with group and it sort of helped but online 1on-1 is probably better since you don't have to be embarresed in front of group till you post it online. I found still my Japanese learning mixed up things with learning Russian as some words sounded very similar that I would start saying something in russian then would switch to japanese then confusing myself , the others in the class and my teacher.

    Интересно. У большинства иностранцев, изучающих русский, что я видел словарный запас побольше, но гораздо больше пробоем с произношением и с грамматикой. Он почти не допускает грамматических ошибок. И произношение можно довольно легко довести до идеального.
    Возможно, у него какая-то предрасположенность к изучению языков.

    Para aqueles que não conseguem entender a conversação, as legendas em inglês serão ativadas assim que você clicar no retângulo ao lado da engrenagem.
    ---
    For those who aren't understanding the conversation, the english subtitles will be actived when you press the rectangle near the gear. Feel free to correct me, I'm not a native speaker :)
