This video is to show my progress with Russian after 30 days of studying. I make a ton of errors, and the teacher has to help me a lot, but I'm speaking!
Thank you very much to teacher Daria for helping me out. Find her on Italki. She speaks Portuguese too!

Good job Josh!:)

I totally love this question and will use it from now on :)
You will need an answer thought.
I'm learning Russian right now. I really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing. It's exciting to see the actual learning process in real action.
I'm getting ready to do my first iTalki lesson and this video was really helpful. I'm actually very nervous about mangling my learning-language and embarrassing myself in front of a native speaker, but Daria was so cool and took it all in stride. She carried the conversation and helped you along. If they're all like her, I'll feel really good about ruining someone's mother tongue.
So, after 6 months what can you say about italki lessons?:)
mj g How did it go, I wanna know so bad :)
Fantastic for only 1 month! And a fabulous teacher.
You've got a really really nice teacher!
I thought I could speak Russian, until I realised there were subs.
This is cool ive been learning russian for 2 months and i turned off subtitles and i understood almost everything.
Thanks so much, Josh for sharing. Even your mistakes were helpful and really helped reinforce with me what I knew solid and what I need to work on. You really did a good job navigating. I hope more people upload things like this here.
im learning russian for almost 2 months and he's so good lol i didn't have any conversation in russian yet
15:00 - Darya says here that she grew up in Saint Petersburg, not that she prefers it.
"Я выросла в Санкт-Петербурге"
Otherwise, good luck with your studies. Your determination is truly admirable. I need to start doing more Russian myself, and this video of yours motivates me a lot.
Josh you are F*** inspiring me to study russian. How did you start learning? like, vocabulary? grammar? phrases?
She's so lovely. I think I've seen her before somewhere in internet....
Josh I was rooting for you man lol. Honestly though you were way ahead of me, so молодец
she's cute
Learning a language is incredibly demanding and I think anyone who uptakes this challenge and never gives up is an incredibly strong person.
14:58 I think she says I was born in moscow but grew up in st petersburg.
Josh every thing will be okay! nice job!

The russian girl is so nice ;)
Daria was so nice and patient with him. I am just starting to learn Russian. I would love to get to this level and be able to talk with native speakers.
Russian is beautiful
i am laughing, but i wouldnt be able to speak that much. And she is helping him out. I see this is exactly what i need to continue understanding & having an ear for the words. great video & effort for the gentleman's part.
I learn a lot of Russian in this video. Thank you Josh! How do you make the beautiful teacher far far away sits next to you :)
That's a really great job! I think pronunciation, mistakes, grammar and other bull sh*t are much less important, than to be able to speak and communicate. Well done, Josh! That's the way a language is should be learned!
Because of this video, I became interested in starting to learning Russian on Italki, now few months later.... I got a Russian girlfriend...Thanks for the upload!
L.y.d lol
If I was Josh I would be gettin my act together in front of a cute girl like that
Good job Josh, i am learning russian too, but i need a beautiful teacher like this one to get better :D
I enjoyed your skype conversation very much and you pretty much covered most of the basics in small talk and chit chat. I take my hat off to you ;-)

This was super helpful, thanks so much for posting! I’ve been learning Russia for 2 years
Impressive! I am watching this the second time now. I am studying russian since about 60 days and feel way less confident. Motivating to see your success.
this was hilarious to watch. She is soo patient with you!! You should use Pimsleur and Assimil!!
Great. Beautiful conversation... that's will be my next conquest in 2018. Congrats to Daria and Josh for this wonderful class... Thank you...
Adorei essa professora, super simpática.

I'm learning from Josh! because he doesn't look like he'll quit learning russian.
go boy!
I'm learning Russian now and in a couple months I should be ready for iTalki. But this looks intermediateing.
I study Russian and I know exactly what is that! I've been talking (at least trying to speak) with Russian and Ukrainian people in Russian and it's so frustating don't know how to say what you want to say. Well, actually the same happen to me when I try to speak english with a native english speaker but I think I can speak a little bit better English than Russian. Well done, great video!
I'm teaching my self Russian, I can speak very basic but I've been learning for 2 days :/ hopefully I will look back at this co,meant and be fluent ;)
How did I do ? :D
same with me! I can read very very well. But I need to learn to translate it into english is my next step.

Josh cara, teus vídeos estão me ajudando muito!
Excellent. Thanks for sharing. I am currently learning Russian and am thinking 🤔 of using italki but doing some research first.
God job, Josh! :)
Que video massa!!!
Minha namorada é russa, e estou começando a aprender agora, gostei muito do video.
I feel your pain... Russian is brutal. Especially 30 days in.
She is nice teacher
So cute
I started learning russian today i started with colors.
The alphabet of russian difficult
But the language nice it makes u challenge to understand
This is very motivating as I just started Russian. Thank you Josh!!
If you want some Practice - we can get in touch in skype
Odeyalo I am learning Russian. Want to practice?
As a fellow aspiring "polyglot" currently studying several languages on my own (including Russian, which I'm most focused on as I type this), I can certainly relate to the difficulties that you're having here. My biggest problem with Russian is the changing spellings of common words when they're used in different sentences (esp how the spellings of "numbers" change). I'd still say that you're far ahead of me, though - and I've been drilling Russian quite a bit lately. Keep up the good work!! :)
do you mean the words that change according to different cases?
Daria Volk I don't think it's a spelling change due to different cases (but I may be wrong). I'll have to put together a list of several examples and post them here so that you can see what I mean.
If somebody want's to talk with Russian and help me with your language please welcome. Just write me here. (I will try to teach you my language if you want)
Oh rapaz... Que professora linda!
Great! Good job, Josh! i like your Russian.
You know I like this video because when I was first starting to learn Russian..I didn't understand anything she was saying..and I was hoping I could at least get to where he is..
Now that I've been studying Russian for a year..this is funny because I'm sure I sounded like that in the beginning..lol
If anyone is just starting out..Even though it may seem hard..just use the language everyday..Watch shows, read books..music..etc..Talk with natives as soon as possible.
You'll get there..I'm just now putting a bow on cases..lol
Удачи \m/
Well, I'm not sure what to talk about with native speakers, and I'm sure I'll have a harder time than him, wat do?
talkhtw55 You talk to them about the same things you would speak about in English. Focus on things you're interested in first..And expand from there.. I can't talk to anybody about rocket science in Russian, but I can talk about fishing, cooking and music all day:) We even talk about jobs, family, dreams..just like here. As you talk to more people u have the same convo over and over:
Привет, как дела?(Hello, how are you)
(How you)
(Fine)
(What are you doing)
Just like u would say to someone here..You'll see:) Just stick with it..everyday.
I'm still learning now, but I remember being where you are when I first started:) You'll look back at this convo in about 6 months and laugh..Cheers
can we get in contact and learn together? ive been learning for like 2 weeks and i need someone to practice with
I'm in the same boat, I couldn't understand much of what he was saying when I first watched this video. I just rewatched it and I found myself correcting him. Awesome way to show myself improvement
The learner may want to put his head in the book a little more. Is the language a priority for him? This seems more of social internet entertainment rather than a serious learning experience. The teacher is quite patient, extremely patient. Good for her. A baby spoon approach would be more appropriate. Baby steps. Baby steps.
Chinese is easier than Russian.
of course that no!!!!!
Depends
Yas Ka I disagree, I am born and lives in a Chinese speaking environment. yet I have trouble with it. yet I could easily pick up Russian
No it isn't, I've learned many languages and Chinese is one of them; it's harder than Russian only because of the four different tones and how you have to memorize at least 1000 characters just to read their language. If you say a tone wrong, then you'll probably look stupid speaking it, that's my main issue I have with Chinese. I'm going to learn Chinese again during the summer, because I gave up on it and chose to do Russian and Portuguese instead. Also, easy part about Chinese would be how short their words are and how similar their grammar is to English, but if you're good at memorizing stuff and saying tones correctly, then Chinese will be easy for you.
I'm using Duolingo, listening to radio and watching tv shows/movies in Russian without English subtitles everyday or with Russian subtitles. And I also read a bit of it sometimes. The thing I'm struggling with is Nominative and Accusative, don't know what the other two are called. But, learning a language while seeing English subtitles doesn't really help me, it's better to listen to a language you're learning everyday without subtitles.
Holly sh..! 30 days!? Nice job.
Thank you.
Awesome Josh!
+Nahyne Souza bate em mim ( that face )
Im doing this to see what people talk about and how much to learn so i can have my first conversation.
Im looking to start learning the Russian language, and want to connect with likeminded folks such as myself (no matter what the level).
Very useful... thank you

shit this is my second day self learning myself trough online material of course, but I hope I'm at this guys level after a month
I did classes in person with group and it sort of helped but online 1on-1 is probably better since you don't have to be embarresed in front of group till you post it online. I found still my Japanese learning mixed up things with learning Russian as some words sounded very similar that I would start saying something in russian then would switch to japanese then confusing myself , the others in the class and my teacher.
Nice video! Tu não me engana, vc é br! Ya Brasislisk y ya rachu izichet gavarit rusk yazik. Yo intento tambiem hablar español. It really motivated me, thank you.
min 15.00 she's not saying that she prefers St Petersberg but that she grew up in St Petersberg so the subtitles are misleading
About "I have to go now" it was so funny.Thks for sharing .
---
For those who aren't understanding the conversation, the english subtitles will be actived when you press the rectangle near the gear. Feel free to correct me, I'm not a native speaker :)
He speaks decent russian in 30 days .
