I think 505kg is unattainable for Makarov. This attempt is worse than all his previous attempts. Previously he could at least get the bar to his knees, now he barely lifts the bar off the ground for a split second. Either his strength has plateaued or he needs to change his training approach moving forward.
Actually I think, he gets it next attempt. It was probably some ham issues I heard, it's a good decision not pushing through it. He will attempt this again in December, I think he gets it
@dummy9517 he won't get it everytime he has tried, last big lift he did 490 in training looked very dodgy set up. Graham Hicks tried, and it looked more smooth and quicker
I think that Makarov didnt even try 505kg lift on training, he just trainin from deficit and thinks he will pull 505 on official competition. Sadly, but he wont pull it. Never.
Makarov was my favourite but it’s Hicksy all the way for next year . Hicksy pulled the 470 kgs and still had enough in the tank to make the most convincing of the attempts at the 505 kgs.

Still a crazy feat of strength. Shame that we don't get any weight selected by the lifters in between, so guys can hit some PRs and get good points that way. I'm sure Ivan would pull a 480-490.

Thor's power is beyond imagination. These guys dedicate their whole life to it, and cannot break it, while Thor did 501kg JUST to piss Eddie of and could have even lifted 520kg. Plus Thor being 200kg+ himself, the total weight on his feet was way over 700kg.
If it wasn't for his lat tear, he definitely could have done 520. Let's pray for a speedy recovery for Thor because we need to see how far he can take this record. Even if he does 505, the record shall be his for a long time.
