►Lyrics: They came for him one winter's night.
Arrested, he was bound.
Arrêté, il a été attaché
They said there'd been a robbery,
His pistol had been found.
Son pistolet avait été trouvé
They marched him to the station house,
He waited till the dawn.
Il a attendu jusqu'à l'aurore
And as they led him to the dock,
He knew that he'd been wronged.
Il su qu'il avait été trompé
"You stand accused of robbery, "
"Vous êtes accusé de vol"
He heard the bailiff say.
Entendait-il dire du huissier
He knew without an alibi,
Il savait que sans un alibi
Tomorrow's light would mourn his freedom.
Over the hills and far away,
Par-dessus les collines et loin au-delà
For ten long years he'll count the days.
Over the mountains and the seas,
Par-dessus les montagnes et les océans
A prisoner's life for him there'll be.
He knew that it would cost him dear,
Il savait que ça lui coûterait cher
But yet he dare not say.
Just where he'd been that fateful night,
Où il avait été cette nuit décisive
A secret it must stay.
Cela devait rester un secret
He had to fight back tears of rage.
Il devait refouler ces larmes de rage
His heart beat like a drum.
Son cœur battait comme un tambour
For with the wife of his best friend,
He spent his final night of freedom.
Over the hills and far away,
Par-dessus les collines et loin au-delà
He swears he will return one day.
Il jure qu'il reviendra un jour
Far from the mountains and the seas,
Loin des montagnes et des océans
Back in her arms again he'll be.
Il sera de nouveau dans ses bras
Over the hills and far away.
Par-dessus les collines et loin au-delà
Over the hills and,
Par-dessus les collines et,
Over the hills and,
Par-dessus les collines et,
Over the hills and far away.
Par-dessus les collines et loin au-delà
Each night within his prison cell,
Chaque nuit passée dans sa cellule
He looks out through the bars.
Il regarde dehors à travers les barreaux
He reads the letters that she wrote.
One day he'll know the taste of freedom.
Over the hills and far away,
Par-dessus les collines et loin au-delà
She prays he will return one day.
As sure as the rivers reach the seas,
Back in his arms again she'll be.
Over the hills and far away,
Par-dessus les collines et loin au-delà
He swears he will return one day.
Il jure qu'il reviendra un jour
As sure as the river reach the seas,
Back in his arms is where she'll be.
Over the hills and far away,
Par-dessus les collines et loin au-delà
She prays he will return one day.
As sure as the rivers reach the seas,
Back in his arms again she'll be.
Over the hills,
Au-dessus des collines
Over the hills and far away.
Par-dessus les collines et loin au-delà
Over the hills,
Au-dessus des collines
Over the hills and far away.
Par-dessus les collines et loin au-delà - Hudba
So underrated it's not funny. For him to make a song like this sound so good with only a 3 piece band is absolutely astonishing!
Underrated by who?
Underrated??
Absolutely agree. Such an 80's icon this song, and to pull it off like that, with such power, with a 3 man band, is nothing short of amazing. RIP Gary, one of the best guitarists ever
You were right about a 3 piece making this song sound good. Those 3 had their work cut out making it full!
Pretty comic of you to say that. You dont even mention Phil Lynott…. That is by far one of the most underrated artist. As well as Thin Lizzy.
Gary Moore, what a legend. One of the best guitarists in history.
No one...no one like him!!!!
Magestic God of the guitar!!!
Rest in peace my beloved Gary Moore!❤️❤️👑👑
The depth and breadth of Gary's talent made him one of a kind. Most versatile rock guitarist ever.
3:46 is pure gold riff ! Gary was the best IMHO .... his tome was amazing!
Its such a blistering performance. He does it all and more. His vocal delivery just makes me marvel. The infinite sustain and utter roar coming out of that guitar. To me, that white Explorer in Gary's hands makes him look incredible, along with its sound. A performance that i find absolutely breathtaking.
He plays the hell out of that Explorer! Gary was an amazing musician!
He was the best
His life and heart was music.
not joking this video is one of the main reason i bought one

Gary's vibrato control was precision in its self. Amazing. The best, taken to soon. RIP GARY. 🌹
I was looking for the second guitarist... Couldn't believe this whole sound is from a fucking 3 piece ..Fucking hell !!
Staggering. Devastating. Only true masters of guitar can slay it like that. He just blended in different moods effortlessly with that Gibson Explorer. What a performance that was !!! I really really miss you Gary.
@@angusorvid8840 Yes Angus. He is the one I miss more than any other guitarist. The way he plays just brings emotions out in me like no other guitar player can.
He wasn’t even playing at the ability he possessed in his rock years he was a monster during the 80s
Christ that's hard to play beyond me what a talent he was

I was at that gig. It was at Wembley Arena, as part of the Monsters of Rock concert. Gary Moore opened, then Y&T, and Whitesnake headlined. It was a great evening.
Wao Gary Moore and Dave Meniketti these are true monsters of rock
I was there. Maybe not that venue? But those artists. Great!

Fantastic !there is only *one* *gary moore*!👋👌
I tried not to have a favorite guitar player from Thin Lizzy with all of the great guitar players that they had but this guy rose to the top on my list.
RIP GM!!!
What an incredible last minute to end his performance.Tuning down those notes to give a warp and wringing the guitar neck to get those last few notes. The final echo of OUT!!! was a flashbang of an ending. A blazing song to finish the classic set he played that night. I love this one very much.
You just got to LOVE Gary Moore he’s the best. Xoxoxo

I saw him on the After Hours tour, playing live showed his class. Much missed
Magnificent!
Phil approves
Awesome bass playing
Smoggy 1964 ,l
Cass Lewis...he's a boss!
He was extraordinary.
Just in case anyone hasn’t noticed - Gary had to roll the volume down after every note - (around 2.40). Doing that in a 3 piece, while singing! If anyone has tried that live, in front of an audience, you will know that’s quite a feat!
Rest in peace my idol 🕊️🎸❤️🙏🏻
Nossa!

best rock song of the universe with rebel yell
honour Phil Lynnot also!
3:46 the greatest sound a guitar ever made
Watch at 6.40 and at 4.40 the guy with his hand on his face and the couple just sitting there . They all look so bored. HOW????? Id be so shook being there to see him play.
They were probably only familiar with his blues stuff. This is his earlier, better rock stuff. I had no idea he went back to it
Unico unico forte bravo bella
✌️🤘 RIP Mr Moore and Mr Lynott 🙏😢🇦🇺
A Music wich will no more return !
Gary Moore and a white explorer go together like John Belushi and a 10gram bag of coke, you just know any moment when they mix something is going to explode!
13 years 😪
Riff master.
Finding and playing the Explorer opened new doors for him as a guitar player, I suppose it gave him a raw Gibson sound ( especially with the Gibson ceramic humbuckers) and a bright sound not unlike a Strat...
Too bad he left us...
Gary we love you
*♡Scarysteria's Liga!Yes👍R.I.P. Gary Moore♡*
