LMAO your reaction to the self made crayons made me laugh. The Tombow crayons look very nice and in such good condition, I love the illustration on the front of the box too. And the set of Cotmans, my oh my it's so lovely to find vintage art supplies that are in good condition. Thanks for sharing your finds

Thanks for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Haha my homemade crayons were not very good, eh? 😂

@@JuliRoxArt Haha the homemade crayons are good if you change the purpose for them. I have a set of children's pencils that have low pigment and I just use them to give texture to my watercolours instead of throwing them out. You could try layering your watercolours with the crayons (or vice versa) and see if you like the results. As you pointed out in the video, it does have a nice texture :) I do enjoy your self made art supplies series too!

Love the vintage haul video! I was wondering if the Winsor and Newton Cotman set have more single pigment colors and less hues? Since its an older set and quality was different back then. It's student grade, but the paint consistency looks so good and the swatches are so vibrant and rich. Great haul! 🖍🎨

You can make a travel artkit out of the watercolorbox, use half of the pans for watercolor and the rest of the box for pencils and more. (It drives me crazy, that you always swatch on the beautiful pomegranate you did😮😅)

Ah that's a really good idea! The reason why I bought the set in the first place is because the box was so handy! Nice and portable. But you're totally right, I can rearrange it however I'd like 😙
Haha and don't worry about the sketchbook page! I don't like using blank pages just for swatching. So I swatch around random art if I feel like it's looking a little too plain 😋
      Thanks for your comment~

Berol is such a lucky find!!! I have a set of older Berol and they are so much better than newer Prismacolor pencils!
EDIT:The Cotman set made in England is also a very lucky find! I have never used them myself, but I have heard that the older Vintage/Retro Cotman made in England is much quality than the newer Cotman paints.

Ah thanks for the insight! I wasn't able to find much information on the Made-in-England Cotmans. It's nice to know they're praised for their quality. I also haven't directly compared Berol pencils to modern-day Prismacolors. Maybe I'll sit down and swatch all of them out side by side 😁
      Thanks for you comment!

How exciting to find those treasures! Did you look at all the fine print on the Cotman watercolor set insert to check for a date? I got a vintage W&N oil paint set in a pochade box and the insert had the date on it 1960.

Ahh no way!! The 1960s? What a cool find. Yes, I looked over every bit of print and didn't see a date. They really don't make it easy 😂

I would love to own one of those really, really old watercolor boxes where the individual cakes still have the color name and the brand imprinted in them. So much history! But also so expensive, sigh

Ahh right?? I have no idea where to even look for them. But that would be such an incredible find! When I go thrifting, I get super excited when I see a wooden box. But it's always just a jewelry box or some sort of cigar box 😂 Same with those geometry sets that we used in elementary school. Those tins always get me thinking, for a split second, that they're watercolor palletes 🤦🏽‍♂️ Do you have a thrift shop close to home? Have you ever tried thrifting for supplies? I really recommend it!

@@JuliRoxArt The thrift store in my area only sells clothes which isn't all that exciting to me. But hopefully I'll get the chance to check out some other places eventually. It sounds like a lot of fun
