  • In my quest to lower the weight of my Tenere 700 I've fitted a full exhaust system upgrade.
    I've used the 2.1 kilo Akrapovic header, the Camel ADV enduro bend connector, and then finished it off with the beautiful Scorpion Red Power slip-on end can. These alone reducing the weight of my T7 by six kilos! In this video I'll show you around the bike, how it looks, of course how it sounds (as much as a video will allow), and of course maybe a little road test and 'fly-by' plus a quick chat on what's next for the Rider Guider #T7.
    This is not an install video, this was not that difficult to fit with some basic mechanic tools on hand, 60 - 120 mins however if you have any questions on fitting please ask or comment and I'll be more than happy to give my advice.

    Thanks for sharing. Looks and sounds good. Ordered the HP Corse high exhaust but I was reluctant in changing the headers due to Euro 5 cat. Some say an ECU remap is needed after deleting the cat. Looks like you installed the Scorpion headers on a EURO 5 bike so you have a CAT delete as well. Any negative effect on the bike you noticed ? Any errors on the dash or OBD scanner ?

      Hi mate, this is a 2020 model and pre euro 5 (I think) .... I fitted an Akrapovic header. I've had no errors thrown up at all, having chatted with my dealer they stated the T7 has a learning ECU so will adjust, however, I understand they can still run lean, so having spent what I have on the hardware I'd be daft not to now get it put on the dyno and have the ECU tuned properly to suit. Getting it booked in after the new year break ;-) ... THANKS for watching.

  • @alrightdave6135
    @alrightdave6135 Před rokem +2

    People who have dynoed the t7 say it runs lean as standard. Headers will make it even leaner. Needs to be put on a dyno and have a custom map to get the most benefit and ensure the bike is not running too lean, which is not healthy.

    • @TheRiderGuider
      @TheRiderGuider  Před rokem

      Thanks Dave, coincidentally I've been mulling this over and having spent what I have for the hardware, I would be crazy not to now get it tuned to maximize the potential. I spoke to Yamaha and they reckon it's not absolutely necessary because the bike has a 'learning' ECU however from what you say, I'm getting it done, next week it's getting booked in for a proper tune and a dyno test. Probably won't get more than 4 or 5 bhp extra but it will give it some extra fizz all over the rev range and peace of mind. Can't wait to see how it feels. Probably end up on the back wheel out of every corner 😁 CHEERS mate.

    Thanks for the vid. How are the Camel ADV enduro bend and Scorpion can holding up? After endless research, its my preferred option, getting that exhaust tucked away where it should be. Only reluctance is taking a hacksaw to the subframe. Think you've made the right choice to lose some of that weight, your reaction out on the bike tells you all you need to know 👍

    already tuned bro? what i can say is i blow my x adv 750 engine because upmap (remap) just my 2 cents, dont remap, etock ecu perfectly fine, bikes now use wideband sensor, there is lot more margin, never damage engine ;) anyway remap makes more responde power that is true, i feel it, but is enough to risk engine?? ;) even akrapovic tells dont need....

    • @TheRiderGuider
      @TheRiderGuider  Před 5 měsíci

      I did actually follow up with the remap mate, it's give me a lot more torque low down and a smooth power delivery, but not much top end power increase, only 3 or 4 bhp, however that's not really noticeable to be fair.

    • @TheRiderGuider
      @TheRiderGuider  Před rokem +1

      Now that is a question I can’t answer. It was definitely expensive but it’s a subjective opinion. I’m glad I did it and the bike feels and looks superb. This T7 has become my passion, and a great hobby. I’ll be taking a big financial hit if I were to sell the thing though. It cost a lump more on top also for an ECU and Dyno to get the best from the system. Lots to consider. There are cheaper alternatives to the Akrapovic header and Scorpion can 👍🏼

    I have the same exact setup on my T7. Just did it today. My only concern is that the camel adv bend is extremely close to my swing arm. When I step off the bike, the swing arm does barely kiss the camel bend pipe. I think it has something to do with the akro headers. Did you have a problem with this? I also noticed akro doesn’t use the stock exhaust mount under the bike behind the oil pan. Kind of weird for how much the headers cost

  • @cloudmaker

    You be careful loosing all this weight next thing you know you'll float away in a gust of wind. So what you seem to be telling me is that if I buy a load of expensive parts for my bike and tell the wife I need the money for a weight loss program that will get her all excited. Right I'll try it. I wonder how much I can spend before the Penny drops! That sounded really good with the mike at the back of the bike. I take it that those things that look like little handles on the pipes are actually heat shields, or am I wrong?
