I like Mama. She may not be in the spotlight, but she's the foundation of the whole group, both family wise and acoustically with that bass. Round of applause and a high-five for Mama.
Karen Peterson gives this excellent group a solid foundation for their music. They are all excellent but a strong bottom end glues it all together. The vocals of this group are incredible .
Yeah, I like her contra bass and the slide guitar from her son. Great musicians. Greets from Germany. "Amarillo by morning" cheats a smile on my face.
Yes, she does a wicked job. I love acoustic bass, but I wish it was amplified some because it's often very hard to hear the bass.

These are very good harmonies. It is also impressive that various members of "The Petersens" can sing lead on various songs. The instruments do work well together. Very impressive harmonies.
And this is what makes America so beautiful.
Katie excels on SWALLOW TAIL (starting at 12:30), that 5 string fiddle is amazing, the fifth string is in the C chord, love the way she string bends and her extended multiple stop bowing passages are unique. I believe her fiddle has a flatter bridge, which decreases the angle between the strings and allows two or more notes to be played at a time. Very impressive artist as well as the rest of the group...

I love authentic American singing and music.
I am one of your fans, and now you are hearing in the Middle East, specifically in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. My father used to work for an American company and had many loyal American friends there. We love and respect the American people and their culture.
I will try to publish to you as much as possible.
And howdy from Texas.
I rarely make comments on youtube. But the Petersen family are so special. I'm a jazz musician, and yet, I am so drawn to the authenticity of their music, and how it exposes their personalities. I watched one of their videos, where they are are having breakfast, after one of their shows the night before. They are comparing how many cups of coffee each has drunk, and THAT is about as naughty as they get. And on stage, when they are performimg, they smile in appreciation and admiration of each other, shy, almost apologetically. And mom in the background, with perfect bass for the occassion, never ever overplayed. Emmet's talent speaks for itself. And their musicianship, never competing or overplaying, and always complimenting and in concert with the feel. I never get tired of listening to them. My compliments to Karen, Katie, Ellen, Matt, Julianne and Emmet. Lâche pas! (French Canadian version of 'Rock On!'
I especially appreciate comments from musicians. I can never remember a moment from any of their songs when something just ddin't sound right. Everything always sounds just perfect.

I'm listening to it again and love your Swallowtail jig! Emmett's little percussive part in the beginning is very cool. I couldn't believe he was making that sound with his fingers, so I started looking around the room to see who was banging on something. lol. I guess that's one of the advantages of a Dobro player!

One of the best things about America I have ever seen
Emmett Franz leads us in a poetic atmosphere where reality looks like a tale. "Moments" is a great ballad composed from a sentence that sounds like a motto : "Happiness is only real when shared" . Great composer and singer.

When I heard you all sing Southern Nights in a previous video, I was transported back almost 50 years to growing up in the South. I remembered instantly the cool crisp nights with the sweet fragrance of honeysuckle filling the air beneath the moonlit sky. I can almost hear the bullfrogs and crickets joining the song. I moved way up north at age 21. I’ve seen a lot of nights, but somehow, there is no night, like a Southern Night. Thank you for this version.

Watching this reminds me of an Alison Krauss concert I went to about 30 years ago before they were a big name. I still remember how sweet and humble they were that night, kinda like they couldn’t believe all these people had come to see them. It was as if they didn’t know how special they were!

I found the Petersens on youtube by accident one night a few weeks ago. Stayed up till the sun began to rise watching and listening. Haven't been able to get enough since then.
