Tokyo Lens I haven’t even watched this video, but I sure am up FOR A FULL VIDEO OF DELETED SCENES!!!! And bloopers!!😆
Did I hear FULL VIDEO?????
YES PLEASE!!!!!
For real tho, I would love to watch a full length video with bloopers and Im 100% sure that Im not the only one :)
btw. I rly enjoy your style of video editting, it looks very smooth and the music u chose fits perfectly to the shots in the video!
Yes
FULL VIDEO OF DELETED SCENES & BLOOPERS??? YES PLEASEEE!!!
When you rent cars in Japan, also ask to provide you with an ETC card. Electronic Toll card. You can use ETC lanes without having to stop at toll gates and pay. Biggest merit however is that when Etc activated, toll charges discounted up to 70 percent. Depends on the the time of day and highways. Not all rental car companies will have enough supply of ETC cards so make sure to ask for it when you make bookings. When you return the car back, the rental office will scan the card and charge you toll spent. For those who have Japanese credit cards, you can ask to issue Etc card so that you don’t have to rent a card each time renting a car.
That thumbnail, though. Looks like an indie album cover.
lol we may use it for that exact purpose! haha
The first time I drove in Japan was this year in August. Drove from Kyoto to Osaka. Was a rather easy experience overall except in Osaka, where some people are a bit impatient and the route diversions can be somewhat confusing sometimes. But the best thing is the night view when you drive along the Hanshin expressway. And this is coming from an 18 year old who got his license 3 months ago.
I know it’s been 3 years but I am 20 looking to go next year. Did you get charged any premium for being a young driver?
@@AT-nj9krI think renting a car at this young age is always more expensive, because statistically young drivers do crashes more often. I'm also 20 and experienced this in other countries. But im currently in japan and we are ging to rent a car in the near future and here it isnt that expensive compared to other contries like eurooean countries.
As a foreigner who has lived in Japan for over 30 years, nice to see a really good blog that explains things so well. Very simple blogs, but definitely makes people want to come to Japan and enjoy the beautiful country sides. The cities are cool, but real Japan is where these guys are going.
82! I can only hope to be that strong if I hit that age.
Awesome roadtrip!
RIGHT?! I’m pretty sure I met a super human...
He's definitely one, in my book!
My grandpa's turning 90 this year and he also still does jobs like that cutting down trees or constantly making adjustments to our property by building new things
Honestly this channel needs way more recommendations!
happy you feel that way!
Personal experiences from a 9/10 days road trip from Komaki City to Shikoku and back. Agree with Norm, I drove in a few different countries and Japanese drivers were possibly the most polite and law abiding. Beside being a bit confused with some road signage and the positioning of the traffic lights driving was really smooth (of course more so in the stunning Shikoku countryside). The only time I got 'anxious' was driving through Osaka on the way to Awaji Island. More then anxious it was a bit of a slog! Now, I didn't rent a car as I was with a Japanese friend and we used her uncle's car (fun fact: we stopped at a 7/11 and bought a week insurance from a machine....only in Japan!) but I had a international driving permit just to be on the safe side of the law. One highlight of the trip was sleeping in the car at the numerous Stations of The Road that you can find anywhere in Japan. We had a station wagon with seats that would recline all the way. And a futon. It was pretty comfy and the Station of The Roads were always a bit of an adventure to stay in. They offer 24 hrs toilet facility, Wi-Fi and then from around 8 am or 9, depending how rural you are, the shop will open where you can buy local products and have breakfast. And if you are lucky a morning onsen, as at times they might be located just nearby or just in the same place where you parked!
Thank you for sharing that!!
Just want to add for others that may now consider buying rental car insurance at 7/11, this insurance cannot be used to cover a rental car (unless things have changed recently). It does cover cars that have been borrowed from friends or family only, not paid rentals.
@@petestrash Yeah, hope I was not too unclear on that! :) It still my top three things to report back here in Ireland when people ask me about Japan though!! Such a great idea!
I hope to get to do that one day, sounds like a great vacation.
@@tlb4210 Indeed Tracey. Plus, by sleeping in the car for 5 nights out of 9 we then could splash some money on some nice Ryokan for a couple of nights. The other two we stayed in an amazing hostel that used to be a primary school. A great spot for a very little money (no showers or kitchens but onsen not too far)
your channel honestly deserves more attention, keep it up 👍
This is an absolutely beautiful video. The scenes are gorgeous, but the different types of footage, the editing, the sound quality... Amazing! I seriously can’t even imagine how long it must have taken to get all of the footage to create this 14 minute video. I applaud you, Norm. Thank you for bringing your awe inspiring content to the work once again. I look forward to part 5!
its always worth every minute!
Thank you so much Christina!
Norm "These trees are creepy"
My daughter and I "They're beautiful"
We love places like that as they can be very spiritual.
And heck yes for a blooper video ♥
Me and my husband use to LOVE to get lost in the area of fuji 5 lakes and just go winding up and down those roads! Thanks for this vid norm ! Makes me miss the driving adventures in japan!
With no other videos for a long time. I clicked on them immediately, when I saw them in my sub feed.
I really loved this roadtrip. It was nice to see a different few on Japan.
Your style of filming and editing is really nice to watch :D Can't wait to see what you have planned for the future :3
Aww thank you!!
Been working hard to keep the vids coming! (I think this is #4 in like 2-3 weeks lol)
psyched that youre enjoying them that much!!
Next vids just around the corner!
Wow !!! I loved that so much!! I love driving through nature and back streets of nature so that is going to be very helpful for when I go to Japan. Thank you so much for that Norm and I cant wait for the next video and the adventure to continue! Was so nice meeting Victor in this trip too.
But seriously 82!!! I hope I am that energetic at 82, wow that's incredible!
Thank you again for the videos, they are really breathtaking and mean the world to me.
I love seeing shots like 3:41 where i know you had to drive to a spot, place your camera somewhere, drive away without your camera, and come back again just to get that shot. I appreciate the effort, but it does make me giggle a little thinking about the process
Lol did you see the last video?
The full road trip summary and behind the scenes?
I think you might enjoy that one 😉
Really loving this series!! Great job!
Your dedication to getting a good shot on camera is unendingly impressive. Like when the semi was passing by? And all the scenes around that moment? That's quality!
Always sad to see an adventure come to an end, but always happy to know more are on the way! Thanks for another great video Norm!
There are only so many "out of the car window" shots you can do and still really tell the story lol
Thanks for always watching! Means the world to me
Gosh I could watch your videos ALL DAY!!!!
That roadtrip series was just amazing!!
Thank you for making the videos and Im looking forward to future videos of yours :)
too kind mate!!
appreciate it!
i love how much effort goes into getting the driving shots!~ and YES for a full video of deleted scenes and bloopers!~
I love the videography! Your choice of sound tracks is perfect! ANOTHER wonderful vid! Thank you and Victor too! 😁👍
Thank youuuuuu (^-^)
Love how informative this video is and I definitely second how narrow the streets can be in Japan, its amazing how people can drive like any other road!
What a great trip! Thank you for taking us along :) Can’t wait for the next video, I love bloopers lol
This was such a fun little mini series to watch, thank you for sharing this awesome journey with us!
i'm a big road tripper and really want to do this someday! great helpful video!
Yay! A backroad video, I love that. That's the way I would travel around in any country, you will see so much more interesting places that way. I've been doing that type of travels, most time I go to work in Norway (live in Sweden). And I think you miss so much when you take the big roads. I hope to see more inspiring videos in the future. A big thank you from me, I truly appreciate your hard work.😊❤
Wow Norm this took a lot of work & planning. It really shows the area beautifully. I love the way you set up your camera & drive away too. Thank you for the trip & thank Victor too. This was so fun. Looking for your next one. I get excited when you pop up. Love to watch. 🤗
so glad you enjoyed it this much Pat!!
The next one going to be a ton of fun!!
So many different angles and so much effort! Thank you both!
I stopped watching another video to catch this one. My favorite part of the series are the candid interviews with the locals. Thanks for sharing the trip!
lol this made me smile just a touch! lol
Love those beautiful mountains, that is one thing I never get tired of in Japan.
Maybe thats why I tend to visit Iwate quite often.
This new adventurous feeling is excellent - I enjoyed this series and your trip so much. Great footage and cutting. Must have taken days to go through it all. Victor seems to be a chilled and comfy person to have around.
every new video you bring out from this particular trip makes me genuily wonder how much time you spend making it. and i mean not just editing but filming it! you have so many good angles n scene shots but you’re only 2 people!(n often you are even alone in your vids) how often do you 2 go back n forth to get a certain shot cause you thought it would look nice? n o assume you also use drones?
this is truly amazing! your effort is not lost on us my friend;youre doing truly fantastic.
your videos aren’t just entertaining n informative they’re also extremely well done n beautiful!
thank you for all the effort and nd passion you put into every single one :)
Well done ! i drove in Japan for 10 years......almost always a good experience. You might also want to do a vid on how cheaply used cars can be purchased.
sigh i love fog in trees, its almost like i could walk into another time or place
probably my favorite part of this!
Thanks for sharing those tips. Can't wait for my winter road trip in the Japanese Alps this winter!
Thanks for another fun travel video and the travel tips! Loved the misty, foggy scenes at the base of Fuji-san...
That was a fun series, I love road trips. Norm and Victor (subscribed) made for a good duo.
The next (and last) episode is going to be the most fun probably lol
Very cool! I really enjoyed this series. Thanks for sharing 🙌🏻
Loving this new series.
What an amazing journey, thanks for sharing! Perfect for watching after work and just relaxing to your adventures and nature!
glad to have you here!
I will never forget the road trip I did setting off from Tokyo Haneda airport to Yamagata Fukushima. I went KO-ed and dozed off at the foot of Mount Zao Yamagata . Why so because I reached Haneda airport at 1:30am and waited till 8am to collect my rental car, didn’t get to sleep throughout and have to do 500km drive. It was a very good experience minus off the hectic part 😂
Roadtrip to northern Japan planned in September. First time traveling alone, so that's what I'm both most excited and nervous about.
exciting stuff!
Oh man, I enjoyed watching this so much! Thank you! 😊
Thanks for watching 😊
The stearing wheel is on the Aussie side. Cute little car.Thank you for shering your video from Michelle in australia
With this kind of content your channel will be growing in spades! Great video, really want to explore the countryside of Japan the next trip I take, I think car may be the way to go (especially the fact they drive the same side as the UK!).
Would be nice to know all the lovely areas of the Japanese countryside that are worth a trip to :D ~ ありがとう!
Haha, I always get nervous when you leave the camera by the side of the road and drive off! Great video, thank you so much for taking the time to show some beautiful scenery and just be informative.
what is this "camera" everyone keeps referring to? lol ^_-
Oh that's so useful showing how a petrol station works. I remember going to the US and not having a clue how to get petrol. I always meant to make a video showing how to do it in the UK, but you're not allowed your cell phone out when getting petrol.
dude amazing editing. really professional and enjoyable to watch
Thank you for the car hire information. We are totally hiring a car next time we come to Japan and all these extra bits of info are really helpful as we would forget to ask for sure!
It’s insanely insanely useful in exploring Japan beyond the major tourist attractions!
I hope you have a spectacular time
Loved riding along with you both! 😊
I think this is my favorite video so far, just because I simply get to see so much of Japan that I have never seen of before... 0.0
Missing doing road trips in Japan. Those 道の駅were a driver's lifesaver~
Always think of trains when comes to travel in Japan, but these back-roads were so cool to see. Giving me ideas for if I ever get the chance to visit!
its all about the back roads!
thats where the adventure really is!
Watched the car adventure in full. Worth it. That was great
Although I agree that tokyo people tend to be too busy to talk I did meet a really friendly granny at a sushi restaurant while I was in tokyo a few weeks ago as she gave me tips on what best dishes to order. All the places on your adventure were really cool but I think the parts where you talk to locals really give the videos that extra depth.
there most definitely ARE amazing people in Tokyo too
really everywhere (^-^)
What are some of your go to road trip snacks and drinks?
I also don't blame Victor for being nervous of those small roads, those always give me anxiety 😅 great video as always! Much love from Arizona ❤️ ❤️
I tend to go with nuts and coffee! Good balance, and keeps me full and energized so I can drive for hours!!!
Lovely vid. I really enjoyed the music and the landscapes. Thanks
Such a nice adventure with victor, thanks for sharing with us :)
Thanks for this great video! Definitely helps for when I will be renting a car in Japan next year.
I support that ambition!
Love the video so much, the editing and filming is always top notch, the views look amazing. Although I am used to Scotland's mountain roads, I think Japan's roads are definitely smaller and definitely higher up as well so I am not sure if I would be comfortable driving on them, but the views are definitely worth it. Also love the ending ahaha, I always think, what happens when you drive off like that :D. Cant wait for the next adventure!
Cant wait to make it out to Scotland some day soon!!
@@TokyoLens haha, thats nice to hear
If you're ok in the highlands then you'll be alright in Japan, the reason being that speed limits are stupidly low (most people speed but still not as fast as UK roads) and Japanese drivers tend to leave a lot more space, as in what would be considered normal spacing in the UK (2sec rule) is actually pretty close in Japan n means the person is hoping to get past (with the car in fronts permission which feels strange too)
@@motojojo_ Ah ok, thanks for the information, thats interesting to know.
Omg the fog! Creepy theme returns. Reminds me of driving in the Appalachian mountains: so green and gorgeous.
All awesome and high end videography!! Great stuffs!!
That last bit was pretty funny. I often wonder what you have to do to make the videos seem so smooth.
Awesome stuff, when renting a car on the international driver license make sure you contact the rental company to ensure you get the right one.
The one I got was not accepted so I missed out and had to cancel the drive but still did so much in tokyo.
Thanks guys for driving the roads I wanted to drive. I look forward to moving to Japan one day thanks to your videos and hit the roads of Japan.
Favourite episode, no doubt! Lovely shots, great views! Plus I imagined you left every camera you guys drove past.
thank you enjoyed it very much looking forward to more adventures like this once again thank you
Your videos of the road trip are pushing me to wanting to do a road trip myself :D
Doooooo iiiiiiiiiit! Lol
Just when you think you can't love Japan any more...Norm does a road trip and finds mist and trees and moss..WOW....thank you!! Looking forward to your next adventure.
Japan is a beautiful place for a Road Trip ! Great Countryside ! Wonderful Scenery ! Tranquil ! Scenic ! Amazing ! Brilliant ! Awesome !
Hey Norm I have a small note about the driving on an international license part. I'm coming to Japan myself this coming october and we're planning to drive a few times. But because we are from Belgium our international licences are not valid in Japan. There's 8 countries which have that issue (belgium, france, switserland, germany, monaco, slovenia, estonia and taiwan). These people need to request a japanese translation of their local drivers license at any JAF office.
Aside from that, as always an amazingly beautiful video, keep up the good work
we are going to Japan in 10 days, yes we do need to translate our french driving licences first.
Cool video! Will be waiting for the next one!
Can't wait for more. That was awesome! Also, how much time did you guys spend putting cameras down and then driving towards and away from them? LOL! No wonder you ran out of daylight!
You really are good at setting the mood for the videos :D
that means the world to me~
Thank you so much!
Great video and good info on the driving and cars!
More of this I loved it!!!
noooooooo!!! over so soon?! 😭😭😭😭 can’t wait to see your next series! ☺️
One more BIIIIG episode to come!!
As always, valuable information.
3:13 My experience in Edmonton is that people treat a turn signal indicating a lane change as some kind of challenge.
I always back off and give people space, but some drivers are downright offended that someone would dare to want to move into THEIR lane. :-(
I love your little Honda "Box". It reminds me of an article I once read about a man driving an original Miata on a freeway in Japan.
He thought he was going pretty fast and then "...we were savagely passed by what looked like a 4-slice toaster on skateboard wheels". :-)
4:18 Very atmospheric and beautifully photographed.
This was such a fun video. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Cheers mate (^_^)
most weekends I drive aimlessly exploring the back roads!
its a great way to spend time!
Tokyo Lens my only complaint would be how many great places I found for pictures but nowhere to safely stop! (Minor complaint lolol)
Was gonna sleep but decided to stay up for this video and wasn't disappointed. I'm definitely looking to do a roadtrip in Japan soon so it would be fantastic if you have any more tips about roadtrips to share! Looking to drive in Tohoku if that helps hahah.
I love Noam talking with japanese local people in japanese👍
Please next explore❗️
and Norm loves talking with locals (^_-)
Next adventure coming soon!
Thank you neeee!
This is great thanks Norm!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Awesome video norm. The road trip was very cool.
I’m loving the binge you have going right now lol 😊
Norm and Victor's Excellent Roadtrip Adventure
Lol the titles just keep coming 😂
So keen to road trip Japan!
This was the first video my fiancé and I watched together! Extremely informative.
I shouldn’t be surprised that highways cost money, I grew up in the US where so many different highways are toll roads and have paid tolls all my life, but it’s still always a little bit of a surprise that it’s just normal to pay whenever you want to use a highway in Japan.
Season 3 of Tokyo Tuesday is my favorite. Probably because it seems to be mostly in nature and it feel like a real adventure. You can have an adventure in the city, but it is great to see the rest of Japan as Japan is so much more than just Tokyo.
Super cool! When he brought up “the mist” I was like oh hell no haha but that Forrest looked super enchanted! First time I rented a car in Japan was super easy but I used enterprise and I highly recommend it for first timers 🙌🏽😅
Loved the Fog Forest and I was thinking about The Mist movie right as Victor mentioned it. LOL.
This was informational. Love the video. I would be most nervous about the sings on the road.
The foggy forest look super nice. I would have loved to take some photos there :)
And the lumberjacks seemed super nice. I loved the quick talk :)
This one is one of my favorite videos
You guys are a great road trip buddy!!😍😍😘😘
ID the controls for your wipers, turn signals, and headlights :) Seems like it would be straightforward, but I've had problems with these in both Germany and Japan. Also, driving in Japan (coming from the US) remember to yield your right turns. Rural Japan is fantastic to drive. I drove from Misawa up Oirase Gorge and lake Towada. Just missed the fall colors, but still beautiful. Thanks for the tips and wonderful vid as always.
So heavenly mountain road...❤❤
been loving the unnamed adventure series! also want to say big thanks for mentioning Hie Shrine way back when in your video with Sharla, I was staying near by and it was great to go there and take some photos right before my flight home. It was neat :)
absolutely!! I am glad that you were able to go and check it out
its pretty awesome right?! love that place!
@@TokyoLens it was! and so quiet I was able to properly take some cool photos of the tori gates :)
I've rented a car once in Japan when i was in Fukushima. Ofcourse it's unusual to drive on the other side of the road but you get used to it over some days. Great adventure. looking forward to seeing the next one :)
Hey there! I'm renting a car in fukushima as well. Did you pick up your car at fukushima station?
Phee yes. Toyota fukushima sta
Awesome trip, mate
I have never heard of hazard lights referred to as four-ways. Had to look it up. Driving back into the city feels so disorienting. Maybe it's because I live in a city and, with the pandemic, I just haven't gone into the countryside in so long. This brings me right back to driving in the mountains of the eastern US on vacation.
You made me think about buying a cute motorcycle and drive in and around Tokyo as well. Thanks 🌸
Riding a motorbike in Japan is awesome! You can rent one (I use Rental819) all over the country
@@motojojo_ Can I use my international driving certificate ? Or should I get a new japanese one !?
@@rimacalid6557 long as you have motorcycle entitlement on your home license you can do it on the international license
80 freaking 2? wow!
Right?!
RIGHT?? Lol
Mind completely blown
Cool video! I’ll make sure to catch up on the others 😁
Let me know how the catch up goes eh 😉
