Chief Illiniwek will return to the field.
Chills. Class of '70.
The music was likely recorded by the First Regimental Band .. later known as First Concert Band. The football band had concert band instrumentation and DID sound like a concert band in the field.
#Chief
Class of 2019
Really marvelous. Was this the Football Band? The clarity and balance is so good it could be the Concert Band. In any case this is a wonderful bit of history musical heritage *and* music.
Class of '80
NCAA killed the Chief. Illini Board Of Trustees stabbed the heart of
the community of my youth. Chief was an honor. Not some clown
like any other.
I will never get over it or watch any NCAA related performance
again !
ILL INI.......
What does “three in one” mean?
repetitivemotion 3 songs in one
Thanks...Bring back the Chief!
It cannot be put into words but, will try. I grew up within sight of the stadium & the "Chief meant, everything to the entire (but very rural back then) central part of the state. Champaign & Urbana mostly but, all the farming communities as well.
He came to our grade schools & our businesses were named after him.
Most of all, we were taught to remember & respect what was there b4 us.
The NCAA killed the Chief but, trust me. It was never what they claimed. It was pure & innocent. Chief !!!!!!!!!
Three songs were combined into one medley, so it was coined the "Three-in-One." Those three songs are "March of the Illini," "Pride of the Illini," and "Hail to the Orange."
