What's really surprising is when you learn that the drummer only has 2 arms
Cobalt Falcon not like the Def leopard drummer then?
Cobalt Falcon looking at your username, I'd love to see them do a cobalt song now... Dry body. Worship the sun!!
Literally lold
Nope. Danny Carey has 8 arms. His DNA is mostly Octopus his genome is 46 & 28.
DC's most infurating detail is that he plays in time signatures untethered from everyone else.
Shades of cozen indigo refers to shedding false tears. Also followed by lemon juice up in your eye... producing tears that have no basis in emotion. The word cozen describes something deceptive and indigo is almost exclusively artificially manufactured in the modern age (its is no longer derived naturally). So many people don't understand how simple this lyric is. It is simply false tears, or a putting on a show with no substance behind it.
Thank you. I was really looking for this!
Great! I would never think of that!
Also "weeping shades of indigo" to me brings up images of Tammy Fay Baker crying obviously fake tears as her indigo blue mascara runs down her cheeks. Shed without a reason.
I was thinking “indigo” is a shade a blue... so I always went with “fake sadness” and “fake tears” from the lemon juice in the eye.
Indigo is also the color of the third eye chakra involves a certain intellectuality and vision. Cozen indigo is pretending that you know something that you don't.
Nothing makes me happier than seeing people fall in love with Tool. Nice work, gentlemen.
bordatwork I just listened to tools 5 albums and I feel like my mind has expanded
Hell nah Adam Levine wishes he could sound like that 😁
heather d man cannot even in his dreams compare to Maynard
i guess he refers at the intro 😂
I'm not saying Adam Levine uses auto-tune, but I AM saying his voice is in a key that's physically uncomfortable for me to listen to.
@@seamusburke639 Ever heard his speaking voice?
@@metalshiflet7826 I have and I don't get it.
I'm so impressed you guys are able to sink that information while listening to it for the first time. First time I heard this song I was too hypnotized by the rhythm section that nothing else got through for me
It took me a few years of listening to the song to even get to learning what the song was even about, lol.
Ya musta been high 😉
Better yet, I was probably around 13 years old when I first heard this song on the radio, and didn't even know about getting "high" or pot 😂😂
Same here, I listened to that song a lot of times and still have yet to get as much as they did out of it
Pausing it and reading the lyrics first or second time through makes a huge difference. It’s kind of fun too
You know the reason your channel is becoming more and more popular is that there are so many people out there who love to talk about music and break it down the way you two do, but have no one close to them in their lives to discuss it with. I feel like when I watch your videos I'm in the middle of an awesome conversation about songs/bands I absolutely love. Good luck getting my wife or co-workers to have a constructive conversation about metal songs lol, which is why I think so many people resonate with the channel. Keep the videos coming guys, they are awesome.
ryanb107 You absolutely nailed it with your statement. Thank You
this
I believe you are absolutely right...
Amen
Good luck talking to people about Djent music too
"Now you're weeping shades of cozened indigo - got lemon juice up in your eye"
Cozened means to act deceitfully. With that said, no one is deceiving the color indigo.
Indigo is a colour that is often associated with spirituality. The Ajna Chakra's colour is Indigo, Indigo children, etc. It's also the colour the sky turns when the stars first come out, and so has been associated with star-watchers (shamans, etc) for along time now.
This line is about people like Pat Robertson, L Ron Hubbard, televangelists, religious scammers, etc. who criticize all day long and get away with it because they hide behind the curtain of "religion".
Nicholas Pumphrey THIS
L. Ron Hubbard is not a televangelist. He was a philosopher who wrote about Scientology. So was Gene Rodenbury, creater of Star Trek.
He invented Scientology, which is a horrible money making machine disguised as a religion much like televangelism. The band has also specifically called out Hubbard and Scientology in the song Ænema.
The song Eulogy is about Hubbard as well
Myles Muir and a damn good song, to boot.
He plays the bass like he's playing a lead guitar. It's sick!
He plays the bass like a lead guitar, where as Adam does a similar difference.
Agreed, this band has such a cool dynamic
He started out on guitar and decided he liked bass more but kept his guitar style where most bass players just stick to playing a bass stereotypical.
Nuclear Rabbit does this too.
No, he plays like a bass, gives groove, the guitar doesn't gives groove
Tools always had a dirty nasty bass
You should listen to Justin’s remix of Simultaneous. Absolutely destructive bass line.
Finally a band where bass actually is an instrument
An old friend I had played bass. He always raved about tool. Never got around to them till today. Their entire discography is out on all streaming services
Mudvayne to but tools is sickest
The bass isn't dirty actually, it's very clean.
I can't believe they didn't even talk about how awesome Maynard's voice is in this song
I think it takes a few listens to actually appreciate his voice, new listeners may be overwhelmed by the bass, guitar and drums.
Ricardo Martinez are they watching lyric videos? They’d trip looking at their videos. Tool is beautiful imo😁
Always
I mean... they compared him to Adam Levine who has one of the best voices.
maynard has a pop voice.
Vicarious is the Tool song I most recommend.
David Ayers that song doesn’t get enough appreciation among other Tool songs. Amazing
Have u ever been in a tool concert?
Can't say that I have.
twice
@@rogernoir8819 I went to this Tool concert and the only song they didn't play? "The Pot", we were fairly upset about that but the concert was awesome anyway.
It's a perfect song. They're good at writing perfect songs.
Maybe they should have named this band... I dunno. a perfect square or something? Hmm. I'll think on it.
Picture of Deftones, saying Tool is perfect. Ye, A man of culture.
This song is perfect to introduce people to Tool
Kinda like 46&2
“I didn’t want that to end.”
Get used to that with Tool lol.
Great video.
Christopher Moreno I'm listening The Pot recently almost every day and it happens no matter how many times IN A ROW I'm doing it, I never wanted it to end.
But then you have to wait 10 years for an album...
Good thing their songs are generally like 8 minutes long haha
The color Indigo is associated with enlightenment and spirituality, and "cozened" is a synonym for fake or phony, so I guess Maynard is talking about people (maybe leaders) who claim to be "enlightened" and give off a fake sense of sensibility...or pretend to empathize with the group of people they want to deceive... if that makes sense.
"...or pretend to empathize with the group of people they want to deceive... "
Modern politics.
Pot. Kettle. Hypocrisy. Etc.
Checks out.
Cozened also means sleepy, 'your fake tears are putting me to sleep. I'm over it!.
I always thought he was simply describing a teardrop in a very artistic manner xD
"Weeping shades of indigo - shed without a reason"
It is a reference to "Indigo Children". It is a term used to describe people born with high intellegence, and/or extraordinary abilities. Usually they have trouble functioning in society. Indigo is supposed to be the color of the Aura which surronds them. The shade of Indigo represents the different levels of their intelligence, and abilities. The most common cases are those with ADHD, or Autism. The song was written after he was sued by lawyers that had once represented him.
Also a likely reference to crocodile tears.
James ‘Maynard’ Keenan has one of the most beautiful voices I’ve ever heard.
Right up with Mikael Åkerfeldt from opeth
A true master at singing
Of Course. Technique all His Own.
Talent wise, right up there with Freddie, in my opinion.
Even his screams are melodic. He could scream me to sleep. ♥️
Not only does Maynard have an incredible voice but he's truly a master lyricist.
Also his harmonies with the song are insane
True
His ability to put just the right touch where it needs to be is top tier
TOOL - AEnima
time to learn to swim ma dudes!
VEXARI the song's name is ænema
ITA Aran
true AEnima is the album AEnema is the song
Hell yes. Aenema or Eulogy. I think they'd enjoy either one. Musically and lyrically brilliant.
H. would do it too.
VEXARI thats a fucking beast of a song as well!
Tool - Every song ever written
"You broke this down to a molecular level at this point" killed me. Too true hahaha
Jack Ryan, right, though. He was talking a thousand miles a minute.
ALTHOUGH, I never realized "the pot call the kettle black" thing..
Wow the lyrical interpretations on this were pretty deep for a first listen
Yeah, I was impressed. These guys are smart
Tool - Vicarious
Samuraydosgames 953 YES
Yes
The Grudge, Stinkfist, Vicarious, Jambi, Parabol/Parabola, Ticks and leeches......ahhhh F*** it...every Tool song.
Hot damn I would have 10 of Danny Carey's children little fucking Army of drummers seriously Jambi and ticks and leeches so good the drumming on ticks and leeches. God mode
Great list
Haha gold
Who else wants to kick it with these two when they visit Vegas??
meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Mos Def
Yeah these guys are cool AF
But their lost in Vegas
I live here
Maynard stated the song was in response to unreasonable sentences put on poc for possession of small amounts of marijuana. The system being rigged and broken.
If you can’t beat’em, join’em. THEN beat’em. 🤘🏽👮🏻♂️🤘🏽
Thanks for sharing this. Never knew that
you sure it wasn't directed at Jimmy Page after he made comments about MJK lyrics?
We have Joe Biden to thank for that
The song is supposed to have a trifecta of meaning, and that's just one of them.
Right in Two - Tool
YESSSSS!
The song is AMAZING. Lyrics are great too. They’d have fun figuring it out
This one with out a doubt!
THIS
Dude. They would get so caught up in the lyrics that the brilliance of the musicianship would totally escape them. At least on first reaction. But also, Yes! Absolutely!
Oh yeah, give Tool's Schism a listen.🤘
Larry Newsom Yes!! Schism, great idea!
I never quite understood reaction videos but you guys just made this so enjoyable. Im over here bobbin my head with you guys lol. Now I need to go listen to epic tool 🤘
the difference between these guys and most reaction videos is they are actually breaking down what they like about the song and giving their thought process on how they are digesting the lyrics. The rest of the 'reaction' channels just sit there slack jawed and add nothing to the video.
Axerty 😂 Exactly (like what is even the point!). ALSO, I love how these guys get super into it, really take in the music, and are open to all kinds of different styles and genres. Good stuff 🤙🏽
I like reaction videos like this because it’s super interesting to hear people talk about their interpretations and stuff like that. It’s much better than CZcamsrs who react and don’t add anything to just get views.
whoaaaa, glad i became a patreon supporter - i was wondering when you would do more tool. knew you guys would love the groove on this one!
What you said.
now they need to do vicarious :)
BliboranBass Agreed.
Do stinkfist
They need to do The Patient or Right in Two.
Tool is one of the best bands in the modern era of music! I love that you guys can understand find joy in their music! Its so good!
can not wait till the new album!!!
Hey they have the drums recorded and are working on bass tracks! It's just a matter of time now😎
haha
I’d say up until about 2007 they were one of the best. It’s just been so long since 10000 days that I think they gotta come out and reclaim that throne once more. No doubt that they will though
@@chrismoore7882 So how did you like it? :D
Tool - Third Eye. This is my absolute favorite tool song.
Out of curiosity, do you prefer the studio version or the live one from Salival? It's one of the few songs I can think of where I actually prefer their live performance version (not that I dislike the studio one).
Adam Charles live is way better
The studio version pushed the limits of song writing, and I think they're able to maximize/take advantage of producing the sound to its full potential in studio, but the live (salival) version will just blow you away. I wish I could experience the live version personally.
I was lucky enough to hear them open their set with it the last time I saw them in concert. The song that's eluded me every show I've gone to is Ticks and Leeches. I've heard they don't play it often because it can cause Maynard to lose his voice, but...man...to see Danny Carey rip through the drums on that song would allow me to die happy.
Bbbrruuuhhhh!!!!
The pot calling the kettle black is it! Great job guys.
Tool - The Grudge or Lateralus
OMG YAAAAAS!! Finally! 🎉 Weeping shades of cozened indigo seems to be a reference to fake tears, made famous by televangelists some years ago.
from Wikipedia - The color electric indigo is used in New Age philosophy to symbolically represent the sixth chakra (called Ajna), which is said to include the third eye. This chakra is believed to be related to intuition and gnossis (spiritual knowledge)
Twiggy Marie fdkkrrreeee
Peter Hineinlegen thanks! I always love learning new things about the songs I love. 🤘
or it's her blue (indigo) eye makeup running from her fake (cozened) tears.
it is a reference to "crocodile tears" Cozen means fake/deceptive.
Finally, more Tool. Now react to what was voted best rock drum performance of all time: Tool Ticks and Leeches. Thanks and keep up the good work.
Ticks And Leeches has not only the best drum performance, but also the best Vocal Performance! Maynard does some amazing screams there.
Tool - Sober
PLEASE, or anything else from Undertow
A perfect circle - judith
Tool - sober
Deftones - passenger
You will love them, and you will have a great reaction to the them all
They did a perfect circle
Should do knife party by deftones
I just “discovered” Sober the other day. Freakin love it! Overall idk what genre(s) Tool falls into but I love em :’)
This video has been up for an hour and already has 5k views. Lol you guys need to do more TOOL
"weeping shades of cozened indigo" = "crying lying blue tears" as in, faking sadness.
Tool - Right in Two
Dean Cortez definitely they'll lose their shit for this I think
Oh absolutely!
They also need to watch the unofficial music video that fits so well with the song!
They'd love the shit outta that mandala solo.
You guys have an uncanny ability to break down lyrics; determining symbolism and ultimately finding artistic meanings in the music you review. Thank you guys for doing what you do. Keep up the great work. - Billy McNicol
You should do The Grudge by Tool.
It kills.
parabol/parabola
The breakdown groove in The Grudge is the filthiest thing i've ever heard
I'm still praying for the day they try Rosetta Stoned and break down from confusion....
I can't believe I don't see this more often. I love the pot, and the other two songs that they did but they keep playing radio songs because alot of the people requesting them heard them on the radio. . I can only assume any tool fan that knows their whole catalogue also knows that their best stuff isn't on the radio. The grudge to me is the most accessable of their best songs. Songs along the lines of (eulogy, right in two, pushit, third eye) would probably be the next step after the grudge. If they do vicarious or jambi next I might have an aneurysm. Also, ticks and leeches would be great.
That breakdown in the middle and that ending..
You nailed the interpretation. It's about marijuana and the hypocrisy of others -- mostly politicians and the moral authority -- that point fingers at the "filthy pot smokers," when they themselves are just as dirty. Of course, like most Tool songs, it's packed full of double entendres, meanings and innuendo.
"The Pot" is literally pot (marijuana), and the proverbial "pot that calls the kettle black."
I thought this was about the judge that had sentenced alot of drug users into prison and then got caught smoking crack
It might have been an Australian case though
Its about Led Zepplin stealing their music and accusing Tool of doing the same. Muddy Waters and practically raised The Dead (Grateful Dead).
The songs definitely not about drugs
I've never heard that explanation before, what songs are you referring to?
Porcupine Tree - Arriving Somewhere But Not Here
Kenneth knows.
I'm on the pot while smoking pot and listening
to the pot.
Pot-ception
Thats meta. Spiral out.
That might be too much pot 😂
Must be high
@@timf00lery soooooo high
Yes - Roundabout (one of the early awesome bass-lines in rock)
Aim high, shoot low
I do enjoy that bass line, but Long Distance Runaround I feel has the better one
Roundabout is a beautiful song, I’m only 18 and when I tell people I like yes, they ask if I can play the meme song, so disappointing, Steve Howe would disapprove in so many ways
Not too sure about the "Weeping shades of cozen indigo" but I did a quick look and one of the first things I found; "Indigo is a colour that is often associated with spirituality. The Ajna Chakra's colour is Indigo, Indigo children, etc. It's also the colour the sky turns when the stars first come out, and so has been associated with star-watchers (shamans, etc) for along time now.
"Now you're weeping shades of cozened indigo - got lemon juice up in your eye"
I think is a jab at the Helen "won't somebody think of the children" Jovejoy type of people, who use religion (i.e. spirituality) as an excuse to stifle other peoples spirituality (in this case, drug use).
So "the pot" is weeping shades of indigo shed without a reason, is moral authorities (religious types) doing immoral things (judging, jailing, scrutinizing, etc) in the name of morality."
Ryan Clough good stuff.
what?
Isn't lemon used to expose hidden writing, and I think that plays on the indigo line.
I love that interpretation!
TOOL - JAMBI
At one time the color indigo signified a high monetary or power status... a social status. Cozen = trick or deceive, to obtain by deception. These two definitions fit with the rest of the lyrics about hypocrisy and all that... I just saw a few comments from earlier that sounded similar. So this hypothesis may be the closer fit. But then again, who knows how Maynard thinks?
Charles Bryan I looked through the comments to find this, thank you, very interesting!
Been waiting for that reaction for months. I'm so glad you guys did it. Maybe Vicarious next ? Or Parabol/parabola ?
Kniveus how is your comment 1 week old?
Patreon crew.
Ohh man Parabol/Parabola would be fucking awesome.
Tool - The Grudge or
Jambi
Joe Mauceri II yes
Joe Mauceri II the grudge
Definitely prefer The Grudge over it (being a top 3 song of theirs for me) but listed Jambi as well cause I think too it'd be something they'd dig maybe more.
Definitely The Grudge
Jambi jambi jambi
I've heard this song a million times, and you guys have explained what it's about more than I've ever heard it! Ryan's "Pot calling the kettle black" blew my mind! I'd never considered that.
I agree, I've never put that together. I just jam to it. It's my favorite Tool song and every time I hear someone say they don't like tool I feel like this is the song to play them.
Eric Burrows Jambi is the song I always play to get people hooked on Tool
Great lyric breakdown...I'm a Tool fan and this video helped broaden the meaning for me.
TOOL - The Grudge or Jambi or Schism PLEASE!!!!!!!
Damian Regalado Jambi is fucken awesome
Damian Regalado Damn Jambi and The Grudge go hard
The grudge!!!!!
DOWN - STONE THE CROW
YOU DAMN RIGHT!!!
Nice! Or Bury Me in Smoke
Eyes of the south
These guys definitely need to hear DOWN.
Porcupine Tree - Blackest Eyes
Great suggestion.
Great great song
Ishaan Kochhar awesome song. Awesome band
I had that album on loop when it came out. Such an amazing band.
Ishaan Kochhar Yes!!!!!!!!!!
lol I just love their reaction at 3:35 they can’t handle how funky the bass is!
This is probably the best thing I've ever seen. You guys are incredible, open minded, and entertaining. Huge fan from this day on!
the Mars Volta-Day of the baphomets(a true masterpiece of transitions, complexity, vocals and GROOVE)
Guys listen to “Right In Two” by Tool to hear more of the “primal” drumming. Also the drum breakdown in their song “H.” Is amazing. Danny Carey is the best drummer out there!
Jeff Ward Both wonderful suggestions! If you need an idea of what Took considers a love song, there is no better example than H.
Carey is great and all is but Duplantier and Hakke are fucking insane.
I took my son to see Tool this past February on his 14th birthday in New Orleans. I'm 37 and I grew up with Tool. Now my son loves this music and it's so cool that they're still kicking ass after all this time and putting next level, deep, powerful lyrics out there that I am having such intelligent discussions with my kid about. We held hands during that concert and cried during Jambi. That "nasty" 😆 bass and those drums was a just spiritual experience like no other. It was an amazing amazing thing to see this dudes live...in NEW ORLEANS! #shityoself
We love you guys!!! 🤘🤘🤘
TOOL - Jambi
Yes
Anthony Alvarado with the claymation video!
Why would you suggest this track when they haven't heard to Schism, Right in Two, Sober, Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned etc? You high brah? You must have been *djent djent* HIIIIIIIGH!
Justin Chancellor is a beast on the bass !!!!!!!
The grudge by tool!!!!
Judith by a Perfect Circle!!!!!
Pinball Wizard Judith is a killer song x
I come back every once in a while to re-watch your Tool reactions. Stays entertaining.
Tool - Stinkfist is the real shit though!
Here's a couple other rock/metal songs I think you guys might like:
Down - "Stone the Crow" - based on previous videos, I think Ryan and George would like this; plus, Phil Anselmo has one of the most versatile voices in rock
Infectious Grooves - "Violent and Funky" - funk-metal with a BADASS bassline and killer groove
Caligula's Horse - "Rust" - an accessible, if not outright catchy, prog-metal track that I think you guys might dig, especially the "heavy" part
Steve Martin... You too have died before
NOLA is such an awesome album
Steve Martin down, good call
Probably won't get anymore from Phil from them. They saw his racist Hitler salute and aren't acknowledging his bands, and rightfully so.
Matthew, can you point me to where they mention that? I believe you, but I'd like to parse their words myself.
Regardless, it's unfortunate. I would hope that in their quest to be objective, they could separate the art from the artist. Kind of like I do with Dead Prez. They've got some pretty explicitly anti-white lyrics, but because I like their music, I choose to interpret those lyrics as more anti-establishment or anti-upper class.
Matthew Stifler you are correct sir. Philip is a total douche (including the bag it's kept in) for buying into and preaching hate.
Yaaaay, Tool's always welcome :D Also here's the usual suggestions:
*Porcupine Tree* - Arriving Somewhere but not Here
*Judas Priest* - Hellrider
*Rammstein* - Sonne
*Opeth* - Black Rose Immortal
*Leprous* - Acquired Taste
*Black Sabbath* - Sweet Leaf
*Ozzy Osbourne* - Diary of a Madman
*Dream Theater* - A Change of Seasons
*Slayer* - Dead Skin Mask
*Iced Earth* - Something Wicked trilogy
*Iron Maiden* - Rime of the Ancient Mariner
*Metallica* - Ride the Lightning
*Pantera* - Floods
I'd love to get some feedback of anybody who checked any one of these out for the first time, Let's keep the free-thinking rolling!
Ive always loved Tools bass lines. They have some of the nicest bass lines ever. The whole band is a master of their craft
Guys about Time!!
Opeth - Burden, Harlequin Forest..!
Give it a try! You won't be disappointed I assure you!
Tool - Parabola
Honestly that's where anyone should start with Tool - it's heavy, it's groovy, the lyrics are quite deep and it's got a real spiritual sound, but the song structure while certainly not simple, isn't too awkward to get into for a first casual listen.
LOVE THIS SONG!
But parabola should be listened to with its into parabol
Needs to be PARABOL & PARABOLA
But make sure parabol is first
Judith - A Perfect Circle

Oh my god it finally happened. I've been requesting this for months. Thank you guys.
I can die happy now once you react to Chevelle.
ooo I didn't even think about Chevelle.
marvelmaniac88 yeah I've been asking for Chevelle for minute. I think they will Grove with the songs
marvelmaniac88 hell yeah. I love chevelle.
We need to start flooding comments for Chevelle \m/
Hell yeah!! They gotta do Face First to the Floor or The Red
"Their bass is always strong in their songs"
Captain Obvious!!! Love it
Pantera- Domination Live in Moscow 91' (Video)
tool - the grudge ( do this for the 4th tool reaction )
Couldn't agree more. Any track from Lateralus is welcome
Ticks and Leeches or The Grudge, you gotta do guys!
Or AEnima
Tool - Jambi
Trust me on this one, you will not regret it.
Yes they will, because it's not Sober
i always sucked at reading poetry and understanding lyrics, i appreciate you guys breaking this song down, i can appreciate the song even more now!
I feel like I have watched you both go from dipping your toe into rock/metal, and really follow what you preach, Free Thinking. It is nice to see both you and various people in the comments show they are opening up to other types of music (including your other styles and seeing metalheads say "damn, that J. Cole dudes good shit". It may just be music, but this mentality really needs to hit other aspects of life in this world, as society continues a downward spiral into self-destruction.
Of course, obligatory requests 'cuz like a bunch, I've been requesting for a while:
Chevelle, Fair to Midland, Sevendust, Manson, Taproot, among others.
And the one I have added to most of my responses: All that Remains - Six
i agree and i've seen most the bands live you've requested.. one thing that i'll never forget is the Lead singer from Sevendust cried of joy so many people showed up at Rock am Ring.. there was another awesome band playing at the same time :P
Or indictment by all that remains. Was cool to see someone request anything from the fall of ideals. Flawless album.
"weeping shades of cozened indigo"
I think it refers to someone who is jaded and cynical (cozened), but they are still inflated on a previous peak spiritual experience (indigo), maybe from psychedelics. Now they have lost their insight, but they still identify with it, and they lash out at people and the world.
I've been there. This song was hard for me to stomach when it came out - a direct punch to the blind-spot. So was Rosetta Stoned.
YES another TOOL reaction!!! Shit yeah!
You guys should definitely listen to "H". Great instrument and probably the best lyrics of any tool song.
Guys, for your next Tool song, please do Aenema from the album Aenima. It's a masterpiece. You'll thank me later.
michael fadian See ya down in Arizona Bay! Don't forget to learn to swim. Gotta love a good Bill Hicks based song.
Eulogy or sober or stinkfist or aenema by tool...
Lunascope Media Stinkfist and Prison Sex are some of my favorites
Definitely Stinkfist. My favorite

Too many excellent Tool tracks to choose from.
vicarious needs to happen first i think
Awesome, been waiting for this one for a while. Next should be Vicarious or Jambi
gnarkilleptic Agree!
The instruments are absolutely insane, and the lyrics are just as incredible....it's all a transcendental experience. ✌
Danny Carey (the drummer) is one of the greatest drummers imo. He has this effect on songs that you don't see from many drummers, again imo. While many drummers really enhance songs very well, it feels as if Carey plays the right stuff at the right time in a way I don't know how to describe.
At any rate, the next Tool song you guys react to should be one of three songs... Right in Two, Vicarious, or Schism.

As awesome as that whole album is, Drive Home might be a better first choice, even more so because it features one of THE BEST instrumental parts I've ever heard. That Guthrie solo is something else... They would probably enjoy the whole "Porcupine Tree- In Absentia" record, it has a ton of groove
I'm just speaking from experience. The Raven that Refused to Sing got me into Steven Wilson and I actually wasn't a fan of Drive Home until I watched the film clip...
Vicarious has to be next
3 years old. And I still go back and watch this. It's because of the dissection of the song that most other channels have lost. Good job.
Tool - Ticks And Leeches, that's a must if you like insane drumming
