Yesterday I was practicing and I got down to shoot the one in the side. I thought, "I'm going to miss this to the left" but rather than standing up I told myself to shoot anyway to see if I was right and sure enough! I just missed to the left. I reset them and got down again and made it that time.
I REALLY need to start listening to myself when that happens, especially in league play! I've not listened to myself too often

20:33 James rushes his shots. If you notice, he doesn't pause in his routine. He strokes about 3x and shoots. He would be a much better player with a proper routine, which includes a pause. You can't have a good game on bad fundamentals.

I just got out of a 2 month slump myself. Something that helped me shoot better while I was in that slump was, and it's gonna sound strange, but granola bars or cliff energy bars. I'd eat one of those and it seemed like I was able to focus a lot more, i felt really steady and really good about the shots. I'm not saying they'll work for everyone, but they worked for me. It's most likely all in my head, but I can't recall playing bad after eating one of those.

When I'm in a slump it means I've gotten sloppy. {not hard for me to do!). Go back to fundamentals, your stance, alignment, smooth stroke, stay down on the shot. Doing the X drill does all those things. Shoot a thousand shots then eat a granola bar.

Push Shot - If the cue ball is frozen to the object ball,
pushing through the cue ball is a legal hit. If there is separation between
the two balls equal to or less than the width of a piece of chalk, the
shooter must keep from double hitting the cue ball. To make a legal hit
the shooter must either 1) When shooting directly at the two balls
elevate the back of the cue in an attempt to put draw on the cue ball, or
    2) Shoot at an angle not directly in line with the two balls. As long as
an honest attempt at either is made, no foul can be called. If the
distance between the two balls is greater than the width of a standard
size piece of billiard chalk, a double hit of the cue ball is a ball-in-hand
foul. When confronted with this situation, it is strongly recommended
that a third party or referee be called to watch the hit to avoid
controversy. If a third party is not called, it is the shooting player’s
decision. Note: Should the cue ball travel past the object ball, a foul has
    been committed
