18 minutes before he actually shows a tongue scraper. Why do these people take SO LONG to get to the point? You would think they charged by the minute. So...buy a damn scraper and do it till brownish liquid no longer comes off. Do it several times a day. Takes him over a half hour to say that, folks!
Thanks for the heads up. Jumped to 18 minutes 🎉
The ‘bowl’ end of A teaspoon will do it. No need to purchase anything .
I’ve never cut or over scraped the tongue surface.
Yeah, it's long and boring to watch this
I grew up using the spoon which does the best job. The spoon does not break
THANK YOU😊
I've been tongue scraping for years. My favorite is Dr. Tung's COPPER tongue scraper. Copper is naturally anti-bacterial and it stays cleaner more easily. I do it every morning. Right after getting up, I brush my teeth and scrape my tongue. One other benefit -- if tongue scraping makes you gag, you are stimulating your vagus nerve, which is good for us too.
I have the same one but it’s his stainless steel one…
In Gratitude✨🙏🏾✨
@@miabeia3117I think putting it in lemon water is supposed to clean it. I’d assume apple cider vinegar mixed with water as well would clean it. Though you don’t want to get that one your teeth a lot or it’ll wear them down. If you take it you’d use capsules or drink with a straw to avoid teeth and dilute it well enough. You can swish with it and I think maybe also hydrogen peroxide (but I’m not sure if that’s safe for everyone or not it may be but I’d check) but you don’t want to use either that way for long. It’ll go past whitening to degrading enamel.
My GF doesnt gag when she does it

LOVE this channel. When you floss, brush, water-pik and tongue scrape there is ZERO bad breath or morning breath. Daily tongue scraping and nose flushing/cleaning (in the shower) are mandatory for good hygiene. If you use a natural toothpaste loaded with Xylitol, you will even see tartar start to disappear within weeks. (Keep it away from dogs. Xylitol is extremely toxic to dogs and will cause liver shut-down.) First, eliminate all the damn fluoride products. BRAVO on the fluoride lawsuit. I admire you greatly for that. Dr. Mercola has been warning about fluoride for decades.
What’s wrong with fluoride?
Ingestion of fluoride acts as a poison. The only possible good use of it is topical on teeth.@@thatgirlreacts5465
@@thatgirlreacts5465 he basically said it in the end of the video, its a neurotoxin. It makes you a few IQ points dumber
Dementia?!
Science is NOT evident on dementia from Fl- ions it is clear that too much Fl- can cause fluorosis so moderate use has been proven to have efficacy against Carie’s as has Xylitol. Proven Dental Science tells us to have good Oral Hygiene Care (OHC) with less than a pea size dentifrice with or without fluoride in it that we can diminish Caries, Periodontal Dz, plaque induced Cardiovascular Dz, Diabetes and Dementia! All these TRUTHS are proven. 🥰🥰🥰 What is also self evident is that regular OHC bleeding soreness and inflammation will diminish within a couple of weeks. Bad Breath is so much better with OHC including cleaning that 👅 tongue.
Dry mouth and Diabetes are things you can smell and easily diagnose. Read up on these diseases one needs medical evaluation and the other can be as easy as small sips of water every 2-3 times an hour to moisturize not rehydrate! As a dentist I love Docs content and refer my patients to it Regularly! Cheers
Been using a tongue scraper for at least 25 years and it has been instrumental in preventing a severe Periodontitis from getting worse, along with other things such as brushing my teeth with soap.
Thank you! Very clear and detailed explanation!
i do fasting and saw that along with fasting and eating kimchi as well as eating more fiber which feeds my microbiome I no longer have coating on my tongue. I do have a great tongue scraper and use it but most of the time I see no coating. Fasting half a day once I wake up has been the great improvement in my health including my oral health. Starve the pathogenic bacteria and you will see so many good changes.
That was so informative. Thanks so much! 😊 My family’s dentist gave us the plastic tongue scrapers in our take home bags but he didn’t talk to us about the benefits or how to do it. So thanks for educating us on how beneficial it is to tongue scrape and how to do it. 😊
I just found your channel! I like it! Thank you fir making these videos! I’m subbed!
Just started yesterday night. So far - really impressed.
We are brushing our tongue with our toothbrush ,from childhood on . All the people in South America are brushing their tongue ,its a must !!
Great coverage as always.
Very informative, thank you!
I started this a few months ago. Can you make a video about several of the advice you've given that are similar to this? Your Top 10 or something would be awesome. Thanks for this vid!
We got the tongue scrapers you recommended, and scraped as you described. No problem. It's quite easy, in fact.
All right already. I will research myself
Thanks for this video, I knew I had the wrong tongue scraper. It's a old version. Just ordered yours.
Appreciate your information.
Thank You. I do tongue scraping twice a day, just because I felt it was the right thing to do. I have kept to this routine. Now that I realize there are other benefits such as the impact on your blood pressure etc, I most definately will continue thia practice.
Thanks so much DrB, just scraped my tongue with a spoon as it’s all I have. Battling with an extraction and gum disease. Using propolis mouth wash and Periobrite toothpaste, flossing and also have Invisalign, trying to straighten my teeth for proper cleaning. Will start oil pulling next week when my extraction site is better (day 4). Really appreciate all your advice. Thank you ❤❤❤
Thanks for a very good presentation. In addition to tongue scrapping I also do oil pulling. Should I do it
before or after scrapping my tongue?
Thank you!
Thank you for the class Doc. I recently started using a water pik because I eat lots of celery and nothing else gets it out my nooks & crannys. Game changer! So I want to do all the things - especially for microbiome. I’m healing from severe GI dysbiosis and learned the oral is connected.
I used to tongue scrape as a teenager back in 2005 and had no idea this was what I was doing! I randomly bought a BreathRx kit one day at a CVS and it came with a tongue scraper like the white one you showed. I bought other kits when I was in my 20’s and just did it because I thought it was like brushing your tongue. I stopped doing it one day after I got a little too aggressive and cut my tongue. I still have the scar till this day 😂. Good to know I was doing something very beneficial for myself. I have resumed scraping now with the Slate flosser. I love it and my breath has never been better.
For many, many years, I had to scrape my tongue. Always yucky. Twenty-one months ago, I switched to eating the carnivore diet. Now my tongue is never coated, even in the morning. In addition, I no longer have gum disease, and my wife says I never have morning breath. About a year ago, I noticed that my teeth were always clean and smooth, so I stopped brushing altogether. I do floss twice a day to get the meat from between my teeth, but that's it. My gums no longer bleed. At all. But wait there is more. I completely reversed T2 diabetes, wicked arthritis, high blood pressure, easily lost 40 pounds, and on and on. Before I started eating this way, I thought I would have to stop driving because I had such awful brain fog. Now I drive with confidence, my mind is sharp. It is so nice to live without any diagnoses, no longer having to take meds, eating all I want, and never hungry between my two meals a day. I'm 75 and will never go back to eating those nasty sugars, carbs, seed oils, and even fruits and vegetables.
Do you still eat butter? How about eggs? What oil or fats do you cook with? Do you use Spices? Do you ever suffer cramps? Do you ever consume dairy? I have been trying keto/carnivore on and off for years, I stick to low carb, but I seem to suffer from cramps (calves or abdominal muscles) when I am carnivore for more than 2 weeks. What are your two meals? Did you have receding gums or pockets? If so, has any of that returned? How long did you suffer gum disease for? How long did it take for your gums to get better after the switch to carnivore? From one brother to another, thank you.
@@jonathankuhn2180 Butter yes, 1/4 stick a day. Only beef lard and butter to cook. Other dairy no, too inflammatory. Cramps - used to, electrolytes fixed that, I use Keto Chow drops. First meal = 1/2 pounds of BBQ hamburgers + the butter. Second meal = a large BBQ'd striploin steak. I eat all the fat. I use a lot of Redmonds Pure Salt. Use to have bleeding gums and pockets for years and years. All normal now. My oral health is so good now that I haven't brushed in a year. Teeth are always smooth, zero bad breath. I do floss 2x a day though. Good luck on your journey brother!
Best thing you can do for your oral health is going carb-free. Almost complete elimination of inflammation of gums, and I barely get any tartar deposits. 3 years ago before starting I had to spend 5 hours (across 3 days) in the dentist's chair for cleaning, and my mouth was bleeding for days after. But after going carnivore (a more extreme version of low-carb) he joked that he had barely anything to do, and I usually leave about 30 minutes. I tongue-scrape as well, and trying to do the nasal cleaning, but it's a new habit that I got to develop.
How to do nasal cleaning
With something like Neti Pot or a Dolphin, with warm salt water. Put water in one nostril and let it flow out from another.
I have a lot of phlegm on my nose and throat that dries out and it's really annoying, so the water helps soften it up and flush it out.
I have been tonge- scrapping since I was a child, so it's been a long time. I intuitively knew that the tonge accurated more nasty stuff than the teeth, so cleaning my tonge is a must, and I would occasionally skip brushing my teeth in the morning if in a rush but NEVER skip scraping my tonge, and even this would leave my mounth fresh without any bad breath throughout the day. It always amazes me to hear that people don't scrape their tonges?!
'tongues' , huh!
I use my stainless steel one since 1998 because I had a yoga teacher that taught me . I LOVE IT !!!! Can’t stay without it 🙏🏻🌷✨🙏🏻
I use a pure silver one, that has like, a twisted shape. It was expensive, around 100 euros, but I ve had it for around 20 years and use it daily. It broke apart once, but a silversmith in India welded it back together for just a few rupees, and it's been perfect again, ever since. Before that, I had a copper one, which I lost because it was in a bag that was stolen. This one was great, too, but the silver one is even better.
@@Wandering.Homebody uau!!!! Never saw a silver one . Sounds great !! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻

I use a washcloth during my morning shower. One of the corners, with
2 of my fingers, and I reached back and scrub the garbage off my tongue. Now the washcloth has to be thin, inexpensive, but it works great. I then rinse it out with soap and water, and hang it back up for the next morning.
Gross
Good thinking
I couldn't go a morning without tongue scraping. It is essential.
Same! Morning & night
instead of using a tongue scraper can i just scrub the tongue with my toothbrush add tooothpaste and scrub tongue with toothbrush/
@@user-ye3ci5yb7v you’re just spreading the bacteria around. It’s best to scrape.
Mark Burhenne, DDS I was on the MBG Podcast and you were speaking about toothpaste. Please advise which is best and I would be happy to purchase. thank you!
Thank you very much. I haven’t any painful RA flare ups since scraping my tongue. It’s been a little over a week but if this continues, you will have changed my life. My shoulder aren’t hurting and I can throw the football with my son again. I never took RA medicines for more than a week or two because I was always afraid of damaging my liver, I’m an alcoholic. I eat very well, changed from drinking beer to red wine and exercise. If you know anyone with RA tell them ‘Step 1, Clean up your mouth.’ When I get my tax return I’ll visit bristle to get my oral microbiome done. Thanks again, you may have changed my life.
I oil pull in the morning so idk
@timmccoy2449, might look into carnivore diet for RA; see Mikaila Peterson (sp) vids re her RA recovery. Also helpful with regard to addictions. Personally believe addiction is related to fungal overgrowth and its demand to be fed. Also check into possible hidden mold contributing to body fungal load. Dr. Anthony Chaffee just posted a video I haven’t watched, but initial intro showed the word addictions ... lent credence to my theory. Best wishes.
What is RA?

Great info although I heard you had to tongue scrape before you even talk. So no drinking or eating as you can swallow bacteria. What’s your thoughts? How do you do nasal cleaning in the shower?
What kind of tape do you use to mouth tape?
Thank you so much. I am going to order a tongue scraper. Can I scrape with a spoon in the meanwhile? And you said cleaning it with warm water only? Why not with hand soap?
Great video
Hand soap in your mouth?! No!!
The scrapers don’t have a working link in bio?

I Love tongue scraping with the white plastic one. I tongue scrape every morning after drinking one cup of coffee and it takes several swipes to get all the brown out of my tongue! Hope that's ok.
Using nasal strips allowed me to to sleep with mouth closed but my mouth still has some dryness at times.
Why not a well crafted stainless steel spoon? Why do we always have to buy stuff? I eat a keto diet and what comes off my teeth is almost clear.
You make me not want to be afraid of dentists or a visit.
It all started when a dentist tried to pull a wisdom tooth & could not get it out. Still hear the twisting sounds in my head, he would not stop or give up. Last question he asked me was where did you grow up as child & I told him L.A.
He said, ah.. it was the fluoride water. Have not gone back to go see a dentist after that.
I have found tongue scraping is a challenge with geographic tongue. Any recommendations or a possible video/blog post on this would be greatly appreciated.

You can use a plastic or metal spoon... or to simplify, use your toothbrush (after rinsing mouth) is the best.
I reckon just using My toothbrush bristles and rinse is all that is needed ?
No, your tongue is like a 'sponge,' using your toothbrush only causes the waste products to be moved around on the surface of your tongue. It must be scraped off.
When I do fast, my tongue is clean and red, nothing to scrap. I think it came from the overall health on body.

Chinese medicine ( acupuncturists) use your tongue to diagnose what’s going on in the body. If we tongue scrape and for instance the white carpet ( so to speak) returns we aren’t getting to the deep down issue. Don’t you agree?
You can still scrape. It’s normally a digestion issue if you white film. They also tell by tongue color for inflammation

Why does Dr. B keep insisting that only a tongue cleaner needs to be used when a toothbrush with a rough surface at the back does an equally good job by scraping off all the muck on the tongue? Can someone please explain?
Thanks so much! I’m a new subscriber! So after brushing I shouldn’t spit out but swallow the tooth paste?

Brushing your Tongue with your tooth brush is not a good idea, as you are taking the bacteria off your tongue and then spreading it on your teeth and gums. Unless you are boiling your tooth brush after each use, I don't suggest it is a good idea.
