The courts assigned a monitor to Trump's holdings. Trump can now only interact with his "empire" through this monitor. Any money going in or out and any deals have to be approved by the monitor. The courts have also installed a court-appointed compliance officer to make sure that all of Trump's businesses and assets are compliant with state and federal laws. They have Trump on a short leash. I'm not saying that there aren't people who wouldn't be willing to go over the cliff with Trump, I'm just saying that all the scrutiny that Trump Org. is under now makes it infinitely more difficult.

I think there are always victims when grifting occurs. Not just the direct targets of the con, but everyone else pays a price, too: those who are involved in legitimate businesses in the same industry, for example; investors; taxpayers--i.e., us. In the end, we're always the ones holding the bag.
If I recall correctly, the judge himself said there was a need to protect the integrity of the financial system, or it would gradually lose trust and our system would start to unravel. Trump made money by breaking the rules that everyone else was following. If they ALL start to break the rules--we have a repeat of 2007-2008.

This means that it can't be assets, such as real estate or stocks. If Trump doesn't have the money, he can't appeal. This might explain why he's trying to take over the RNC.
