Escape From Pompeii is a shoot the chutes water ride located at Busch Gardens Williamsburg in James City County, Virginia. Escape From Pompeii first opened in 1995 and was designed by Intamin.

Before anyone comments, no, I did not film this on my phone. I used a GoPro with an approved GoPro mount that was checked and signed off on by Busch Gardens Williamsburg the day I filmed this. All of my on-ride video from any park has been filmed on a GoPro that has been approved by the park in which the video was filmed at. Never attempt to film any ride without the proper approval and permission from the park you are at.

I remember when this opened in 1995. It was incredible, and the effects were so impressive. Total shell of itself now, and ready for a serious upgrade BGW is not willing to spend money on...

From what I’ve heard from multiple ride ops along with friends who work at the park, the fire that goes over the ceiling has been permanently tuned off due to it causing too many problems

been a while since that has been there...they have been removing way too much around the park unfortunately
