- In November 2018, Defy Media shut down without any notice. They laid off their workers without warning and have held ransom the money earned by the CZcams Creators who were in their network. I was one of those Creators. Defy was my former employer and the multichannel network that represented Game Theory, Film Theory, and GTLive - EVERYTHING. We trusted them to help us and for that we and 49 other Creators in their network collectively lost 1.7 MILLION DOLLARS. Money that was owed to us, EARNED by us, and taken by DEFY. Today, the fate of that money rests in the hands of a bank, Ally Bank, who will decide the people who get their money back and those who are out of luck. After trying other methods of solving the situation, nothing has worked, so at this point we have no choice but to make our fight public. Steph and I have personally been going out of pocket to try and get everyone's money back, but to improve your chances, we need your help.
This is my story of what happened. And this is what we all can do to help ensure no other Creator, large or small, has their money stolen from them ever again.

If there is one suggestion that I could make for matpat to get the time he needs for sleep, his son, and figuring out this whole pile of crap is to branch out and let the fans or smaller channels that do similar things to film/game theory make videos for matpat (money and stuff would need to talked about for each individual creator) but still matpat take a day off and relax. Also depends on county. Pewds was no1 on some trending pages and in some counties its nothing. I feel like some countries trends are controlled a little bit but some are really left alone.

I want to give you a big hug, even tho this was 3 years ago, i feel very bad for you.
I had Machinima as my MCN on my first YT channel. Found out later they were taking 83% of my revenue. To be their credit, they quickly renegotiated my contract when I brought this up to them, but then due to an “accounting error” it took 3-4 months for them to actually update the contract which would allow me to be paid more. They offered nothing of value.
