Canal Street BMT and Times Sq Stations in 1994

  • Unedited video of my roaming around the transit system after mid-night. See the 4 Track BMT Nassau Street Line station at Canal Street before it was part abandoned. The Broadway Line express tracks at Canal were out of service for years as trains were banned from the south tracks of the Manhattan Bridge during repairs. See part of the 9 segment ramp system that was deep beneath Times Square, as well the old shuttle platforms.

If it was back in the 70s and 80s I would be terrified, the news would tell you don't be on trains after 9pm that is when most crimes were committed. Besides i was still a kid and my parents were home from work by 6pm. J train comes in 25 mins? That's why there was a lot of crimes committed long waiting time and the 7 was bad too especially waiting outside not in underground it gets very cold when your not moving.

Idk but it looks kinda similar to the sign at gates av where it tells if a Brooklyn bound or queens bound train is approaching

I just realized them closing the passages from the Lexington Avenue line was a retarded move. Walking along the N/Q platform during rush hour is asking for a death wish.

I agree. There was some kind of minor spruce up of the station complex done around 1990 with non-standard signs. More helpful to the public than whatever as there before.
