Something I would’ve liked to see: don’t be afraid to fall back if a fight isn’t going your way. Trying to take the enemy team on 2v5 isn’t going to help and then when your allies get up now there’s only 3 of them vs the whole team
While this is mostly true, I've had times where I just make myself the target cause I happen to be playing a very survivable job. Keeping the enemy focus on me so the rest of the team can rush in and catch them with a few well placed LBs can swing the game pretty damn quick.
@@Draylin41 Yeah theres a time and place for it. Ive done this on Tanks and Dragoon where I use guard or whatever I need to do to stall until my team can get back up and if im looking bad, use that time to run and pop a potion before hopping back in
it will help. Gets you out of the match quicker cause your monkey brain teammates dont know basics or are just chasing enemies. Trust you want some matches over quicker cause you are getting a player that is not using their brain and wants to just ATTACK ATTACK ATTACK. (that being said if its LOW RANK ppl are learning so fair game, but Gold RANKED and ppl still doing it.... -__-)
I have survived 1 v 5 as WHM and 1 v 4 as SAM. Long enough for team to get up and wipe the floor with the other team.
Biggest issue I've seen so far is that too many melee/tanks go chasing for the kill, leaving squishier classes like myself (a Machinist.) alone to be jumped by the newly rez'd enemy team. That said, some good tips in this video. Had NO idea about the chocobo marker/black feather.
Personally biggest issue I see is people being stupid and not using limit breaks. Also chain stun shouldn't be a thing. If you get stunned and you use the ability to remove it, you should be immune from stun for like 3 to 5 seconds imo
@@anonuser4806 The way it reads, Purify is supposed to do exactly that but it doesn't always seem to work. Hopefully they address this soon cause stun locking feel like a real problem.
I was complaining about this to my FC this morning. Especially when they all leave you alone with the crystal and you get three on one.then the opposing team dances the crystal all the way until they win.
No, enemy SAM/NIN/DRG/RDM who camp your spawn will win, but if your team tries it they will lose. That's how it works.
@@ItsMeFranz01 if I'm on like, Sam, there is a mostly dead mch running, and I have people on point, I'm going to clean up that kill and either zone or return. The key is not to leave the crystal if you are the last one on it
Here's what I've learned about how to position your team from experience, feel free to suggest additions.
1. If you are in a losing position
Some players should be on the crystal, while the rest is spread closer to your spawn but still close enough to hit enemies and buff/heal party members.
- If you are staying behind and hitting enemies from distance, and someone tries to chase you, it might be a better idea to run towards the rest of your team rather than to your spawn. You can't just go to your spawn to heal like a moba.
- If you are on the crystal, don't leave. Don't extend further than the crystal.
- If an enemy is camping in front of your spawn, try to run past them and into the crystal if possible. Use your disables and mobility actions. They can't kill you that fast, and if multiple party members are spawning around the same time you can just go.
2: If you are in a winning position
Some players should be on the crystal, others slightly closer to enemy spawn so that they can disable/prevent enemies from stepping on to the point in the first place (But not so far that the players at the back can't rush into to help/target the further players with heals/support skills). If the players harassing enemies close to their spawn aren't doing well, they should run back to the crystal.
- Chasing and 2v1'ing is something you can only be doing when you are in a winning position. If you are not winning, a 2v1 means the rest of your party is getting wrecked in a 4v3.
3: The crystal
You don't all have to stand on the crystal. Only one or two people need to be there, the rest should be close enough that they can step in at any time while also hitting enemies, but should try not to make it too easy for enemies to land AoE's. Especially watch out for AoE's like WHM's, DRG's and SGE's.
Just be aware of where your team is at all times. If you are chasing an enemy, don't chase so far that none of your party members can reach you within a reasonable amount of time.
In overtime, be more greedy with your time spent on the crystal. Try not to waste a millisecond not pushing or blocking the crystal.
PvP is balanced enough that a few mistakes or a few extra hardcore orbs can decide the game so stay focused. (If we ignore all the bugs and the very existence of WHM)
6:40 Not mentioned, the orbs also increase your LB gauge. The DMG buff is nice but if you can couple it with an LB that hits super hard like Bahamut or MCH's sniper shot.... it can be a DESVESTATING turn of events in the right hands. Same with the chocobo feather for the sea of clouds map.

1. Weaving back and forth in between tightly grouped enemies can be a good way of avoiding damage. A lot of people use conal line of sight for their tab targeting and you can make it hard for them to actually get a lock on you by continually leaving their targeting LOS.
2. You can use Elixir casts as a feint to lure out greedy people. Start popping one in a blatant open area even if you have full HP/MP, target anyone who pops out and either gap close or bind/stun them. I do this with RDM when I have Verflare ready: Corps-a-corps, Displacement, Verflare
3. As RDM you can phase shift inside of a finisher combo. You can get the shields of the White Shift melee attacks and then shift to Black Shift to finish with Verflare instead. I wouldn't be surprised if this gets nerfed because it allows you crazy survivability (especially paired with Magicked Barrier) while also landing your strongest nuke on a target affected by Monomachy and Manafication
A guide talking about the most important abilities for each job would be great cause it's annoying having to go through each job to figure out who has stuns and who don't

I wish this stuff was explained in game, ive been flailing around in pvp like a fool not knowing what im doing struggling.
The most common issue I’m seeing is too many people get the first respawn after a wipe and just rush back in. By the time the rest of you arrive to the fight, they’ve died and it’s 4v5. And you best believe they gonna do it again. Stalls can be situational if you know you can survive til your team show up… but just don’t run in and try and win 1v5. It’s much better to give the enemy a little bit of crystal progress if it means your next fight is a 5v5.

Yeah, I ended up just waiting until a match ended and then cleaned up my HUD at the victory/loss screen. This tip would've been a huge help at the time!

play the objective, dont let the sam/nin wipe your party for free, and try to focus one target at a time. Especially a healer(whm specifically.)

CC is so good though I hope they tone down the Crowd control the lack of stuns was one of the best things in the old pvp system but everything else sucked.
Granted I don’t thing the answer here is less stuns but more escape methods being stunned only to escape and get stunned again and killed targeted the whole game whilst your team does nothing to help isn’t fun.
Otherwise I have no complaints hopefully this guide will help with my issue since people not helping seems to be due to a misunderstanding of the game mode!
To beat the enemy team you either need to beat the WHM or be the WHM.

Play war, spam cc on whm and use damage on the drg.
If you're a WHM and a WAR threatens you with Primal Rend, that Warrior should be dead moments later.
@@rellethias Usually when a war jumps on the whm (when the game starts), the war gets deleted by the whole team

Huh I should have watched it yesterday before I decided to just run a casual mode game. I had no hotbar setup, no idea what was going on, nothing. I was confused as hell and got attacked immediately. Today I'll set up my hotbar, maybe the next try will be better then 😁 but first I'll watch your guide 👍

How do you set up your hot bar before going into battle all my slots are now blank. I don't know what you can and cant use in battle. Don't want to just go in and not know where my buttons are.
The way Purify works is that it makes you immune to that same type of CC you cleansed. That's the way I personally understand it and have seen it work

This is so helpful I'm trying to get the mounts but I've only won 3 times out of 50
Dont play ranked.... try casual the win rate is kinda 50%, for me though....
@@razanag I wasn't playing ranked my matches aren't even competitive we get wiped in 2 minutes constantly chained stunned and wiped in seconds I'm lucky if my team even gets to push the crystal at all

A question... Does defeated in ranked match will made your star goes down by 1? I never try the ranked match yet just casually play the normal one.
You cant be demoted from your rank (im not sure about higher ranks but it doesnt seem to be the case) so if you win a few times and say make it to bronze 1 but then lose a bunch, you can lose enough stars to go back to bronze 3 but like you wont be kicked back to the placement ranks, same for silver, you wont be kicked back to Bronze 1 for losing a game with no stars at Silver 3. If you continue to win games (3+) you get extra stars for each win but you will only ever lose 1 star for losses

It's not a generic button like PvE and is specific per-class -- in your PvP profile actions, it looks like a normal ability but will state "Can only be used when the limit break gauge is full"

These tips are awesome. Really helpful and realizing I am NEVER using my elixir D'OH! Loving CC, it's so addictive but sometimes feels like RNG with just who you get paired with-I keep getting to the edge of silver and then falling back into lower bronze. Realizing there are some improvements I can make too to prevent death/respawn as often.
Literally had that tonight managed to get to silver tho
I like how I never did pvp before and all my buttons were red X AND I had no idea what to do and no pop up telling me.. it was a garage experience that I won't be trying again. Halfway in match I realized there's a pvp window to add the buttons to hot bar.. even then I had no clue what to do. It looked like my team didn't even matter the other team was so far ahead even from the start just seemed to intranet kill our whole team... so I don't get it and I think it's trash.
Limit break bar, MP bar, health bar, job in that order. Trying to drop someone even at 50% health and full MP usually doesn't work.
Meanwhile heres me with maybe 20 casual matches with 2 wins.
The think that posses me off is stun I've had matches where there's been 4 range just utter destroying me with stuns
It will get better when you reach at least bronze. Until then, i lost 90 Percent of the matches, now i have a winning streak sometimes :)
There should be at least seconds of invulnerability once you get out of stun. At least give you a chance to survive before getting stunned again. It’s annoying not being able to do anything when you’re stunned then silenced and it feels like forever. Either you pray to Hydaelyn for your teammates to kill the enemy before they kill you or accept death.
Always control the battlefield. One tactic I use is to take a bit of damage and then immediately scooping up all the potion bottles lying around to deny the enemy team a secondary heal source.
Won’t that hurt your team too?
It works both ways like a double edged sword.
i went into my first casual match with my pve hotbar 😅. I set a few a while in the match 😁
Same, was completely confused. “If you have a job stone equiped your pvp hotbars will be automatically adjusted” or something and then those automatic hotbars “cannot use while in pvp”

@@MiegmaishMenas It's probably because it only automatically makes the PvP hotbar if you don't have one at all, and you went to Wolves' Den before the patch, so when it made the hotbar, you had a bunch of abilities that don't exist anymore.

Me killing 3 enemies and my team allowed a NIN to take control of the crystal in overtime. I can see why chat is restricted
most ppl just full of bloodlust and completely ignore the crystal.....

I was today years old when I found out about the chocobo
The one problem I'm having is with just how fast and chaotic it is. It feels like a game of Overwatch where everyone is hopped up on cocaine and low ability timers. On top of it some classe like MCH have over half of the abilities on a clock rotation I haven't figured out yet.
It sucks that PvP still has balancing issues. If it weren't for the mounts and glamors I wouldn't be bothering with PvP to begin with. That said, it's much better than what it used to be, but I hope there's a balancing patch soon
I started playing as black mage and then sage and then dark knight and finally white mage...... as white mage you felt like god lol
Until you get ganked by the enemy's Dragoon, Samurai, and Ninja for the whole match....

@@Zaki_Arx Heh, fair enough. Although, that does not always happen sadly but it is nice when we are all able to target high priority targets.
EDIT: After the patch, Apr. 26th, I finally go to the silver! What a rush of feelings I'm having right now! I don't know what really happened there, maybe patch did something, or matches were more balanced or I was just lucky. Who knows?! But atleast I'm on silver and that is something of little miracle there. ✨
Thanks for the great tip video! This is my sincere take on CC. I've been on the lower Bronze level from day one. And unfortunately I can't raise my rank even after I watching many videos, reading good tips, learning skills or whacking striking dummies. I have barely won 30 matches and lost countless of others. Sometimes it hurts a hecking lot to see that I'm only one who is even trying, when others are not pushing the crystal or they are having 1v1 match somewhere on the map. I'm kinda grown numb to CC and started to not care about winning. I would love to like CC more, but I don't know if I can anymore.
But I'm interested to know, is rank climbing even possible after CC was introduced? Have anyone from the crystal rank tried raise ranks from the bottom level with a new character? That would be a fun video to check out!

Bronze was the most frustrating imo because you’re generally paired with those of similar level…and at that level people may not yet know what theyre doing/supposed to be doing.
What class do you play?
If you’re confident in how you play in each arena I recommend going ahead and taking the reins. Atleast with WAR/PLD you can almost forcibly turn the tide and drag your teammates to victory!
@@ericaj9484 I haven't never been even close to a silver, only bronze. My highest was bronze 2 but after losing 5 times in a row, the climbing vanished into a thin air. That time I even questioned myself, is this really worth it? Is this fun if I keep on getting losing all the time?
At this moment I only know how to play SAM, I tried WHM but the enemy team melts me as WHM before I can do anything. I'm just bitterly happy that I got my pvp glam and wish for a mirracle in Frontlines, so I can get the Garo mounts.
The biggest issue is Purify doesn't work at all, I actually refrain from joining CC ranked match if this issue still isn't addressed.
As dumb as it is. You also benefit from it as well. Everyone has a bugged Purify atm so it's not like anyone has an advantage over anyone else.
Part of it yes, especially when you play classes that stands far back.
For initiator like War or Drg, it kinda sucks.
allways and i mean allways cc te healers (stun/silence/slow/charm wahtever) it makes it much easyer to kill the rest.
I had a match where we where 51% v 50% and just kept going back and forth and eventually the fight just ended in a draw
As a Black Mage I recommend you do not get jumped at all. We only have 48k hp the lowest in the game afaik.
Went undefeated in all of bronze up to silver by playing SCH instead of WHM.
Lower elo players don't realize that dots go thru guard.
They do? I'm only in Gold, but I think I've only seen a couple of SCHs.
@@Ketsuekisan They do, as long as they are applied before they use Guard. A well timed Recit+Bio+Deploy can put a dot that ticks for 6k on the entire enemy team.
You don't see as many SCH because WHM is simply better with them having access to decent burst DMG and Stuns, in a stun+burst meta.
I expect a full rant on Samurai next because that class should be forbidden

Best advice out there for this pvp mode right now. Dont take the ranking so damn seriously. TRUST ME. There isnt anything really worth stressing out over. As far as ive seen and heard. all you get is an adventure card deco pack. Hardly worth the stress at all IMO. BUT, dont forget to keep at it, you still get pvp and series exp as well as wolf marks and with every series lvl, 1k Trophy crystals and other lvling prizes. Stuff that you can actually get something worthwhile with.
imo ranked should be taking seriously thats the whole point

If you are willing to have a heart attack over some decorations that do absolutely nothing more than make a card look fancy, then be my guest. I've stressed out over this mode to much only to realize, it wasnt worth the fuss since you earn damn near nothing for getting to a new tier (for now hopefully). And YES it could have come out so much better at the gate but, lets face it, running an MMORPG that has millions of players/fans all over the world is never going to be easy to please without feedback from the players/fans.
yep, ranked rewards are pretty irrelevant. I stopped playing ranked entirely because why bother for some dumb framer's kit? I want the 200 win mount and the 1000 win title. Casual gets the job done in that regard.
@@Princessk8 Exactly. I do honestly hope they both improve CC pvp and add more worthwhile prizes to the ranked mode though. At this point Im just trying to max out my series level and get a hold of all the makai gear and tropias gear Im interested in.

I hope they add a team death match down the line. Maybe on a field that gets smaller and smaller after every minute w/ a hazard depending on the field type (burn, bleed, electrocution, heavy, poison, etc.).

With 123 Victories under my belt now and still being stuck in silver 3, Either you were able to get lucky and que with your friends, or you got lucky and I mean VERY VERY VERY LUCKY, to get into crystal tier with only 125 victories. I'm not saying I am the best in the world, (clearly I am not seeing how I can't even break silver,) however, I am pretty damn good, and the amount of RNG it takes to climb to tier crystal is by far the worst I have seen in any PvP I have ever played.

It's almost like streamers have hundreds to thousands of people trying to queue up with them so they can get a bit of internet fame or something.

They probably played ranked when it was new and people were still figuring out the strategy of winning. I had a friend who got to crytal a few days after release and was even top 1. They’re not that good when i had a few matches with them. That’s my only regret tho lol, I should’ve jumped to ranked while it’s still fresh for everyone. With guides coming in left and right, it’s getting harder and harder to play as rdm especially after someone literally said “if the enemy has rdm, harass/pressure them.” Lol

I know WAR is pretty up there in terms of strengths, but just having the IDENTITY of a strong as hell, hard to kill, crowd controlling dive tank is... so goddamn fun. It's why Warrior is my favorite tank job aesthetically and it's nice to see it reflect mechanically here now.

First rule, dont pick other than war, whm, nin, sam, drg, because if you do pick other class, u put ur team at very big disadvantage.
Move with the crystal. That is all. Absolutely primitive mod and you will still meet players who are not able to do even this one simple thing. And if you know you don't have at least a two-digit IQ, don't go ranked.
Bro I can't tell you the amount of times I got teammates in RANKED that would *NOT* use a single Lb the whole entire game. Hella infuriating
It's literally one of the ranked modes in Splatoon 2 only I can't put a mine on the crystal to insta-kill anyone that gets close. It's so annoying when people don't play the objective.

Although you can't use mines, you can always throw a Summoner LB on the Crystal and watch the fireworks!
