  • LEXUS LC 500 2018 TESTDRIVENOW VIDEO REVIEW BY AUTO CRITIC STEVE HAMMES
    I’m not big into concept cars. Why? Because, on the rare occasion that they make it into production the result is typically very disappointing. Which makes this all-new Lexus LC even more impressive...it brings true concept car style to the streets with a roaring V8 soundtrack.
    MSRP as-tested: $100,920.

    Best drivers car combined with gentlemen luxury coupe on the market.
    It so pretty to look, interior cabin that takes a backseat to no other car and it's a blast to drive. 10/10

    I bought the brand newit's 2018 LC500 today at the Lexus Dealership in Liquid Platinum with black interior. The manager gave me a great price. The salesman showed me how to use just what I need to know. There's so much on the car, I couldn't possibly know it all. I drove the car twice over 2 different days before buying. The car looks and feels great with lots of power and it's easy to handle. Since it's a sports car and very low to the ground, it does not go over speed bumps well and those concrete blocks in parking lots that keep the tires from rolling forward can be a problem. The front of the car is very low to the ground and if you go over those concrete parking stoppers, and then back up, the front grill can easily be torn off. So park further back in the space. Before my purchase, I walked into the service department and asked, "when something on the car breaks down, what is it the breaks?" The service adviser said, "the car is too new and so far, nothing has broken down." I asked him various questions about maintenance and he gave me prices. Tires wear out pretty fast and they are very expensive, only use premium gasoline, first maintanance service is free but after that, it's $300-$400.each time. So before buying the car, check things out with the service advisor so that you won't be surprised after you own the car. I love the car and happy that I bought it.

      I too have a 2018 LC 500 (Infra Red with Toasted Caramel) and this car is simply awesome. I read the Owner's Manual more than once and now know quite a bit about the Enform Infotainment. You can't go wrong by doing that. You'll find out there are things that are quite easily done that you don't think the car can do. I've read some reviews by some uninformed reviewers complaining they can only change radio stations using the Infotainment. That's totally wrong. Anything you want to do, you can do easily once you know the system. All of them seem to hate the Enform feature and the touchpad. For me, it works great. I almost never need to use while I'm driving. After you run the Setup and select exactly how you want things, you won't have to use it either. There are multiple ways to get things done by using the center console, steering wheel or voice commands. The reason I wrote is to let you know Apple Car Play is now available at the dealership for $200. The Lexus Nav system is excellent but with Car Play you'll get three more Nav systems. Apple, Google and Waze. I'm not sure of this because I just got my car done a few days ago but it might be possible to use Satellite Mode in Google Nav. Satellite Mode gives you the true life view of where you are going instead of the drawings. Audi might already have this. At any rate, I hope you enjoy the car. Unlike most German cars, the Lexus will spend little time at the Service Dept. and you'll be saving thousands of dollars in parts and labor. Take care.

    FYI, there's no sound generator, it's an acoustic tube from the intake runners that opens up to get the intake sound piped into the cabin like the LFA.

      That is cool

    • @tl9756
      @tl9756 Před 4 lety

      The sound generator and generator hoses utilize pulses in the engine air intake to generate and harmonize 3 different high frequency tones during acceleration, producing a highly distinctive and sporty engine sound unique to the LC. The vibrant engine sound is enhanced by special sound-control valves in the exhaust that activate during start-up, producing a localized sound image that projects a feeling of space and depth.

    • @justin2icy
      @justin2icy Před 3 lety +1

      Ahh maybe that’s why this sounds a little different to the RCF. They both use the same engine but the RCF adds an “interior artificial sound”

    • @JohnSmithExtra
      @JohnSmithExtra Před 3 lety

      @@justin2icy I'm pretty sure the RC-F doesn't have artificial sounds either, it's just how that intake sounds..... IS-F is also similar sounding, it sounds too perfect that's why it seems artificial.

    The looks, the Lexus quality, and the V8 soundtrack easily justify it's near $100k price.
    If you don't need 4 doors, one of the best cars you can get under $100k
    The LCF is rumored to be a 2019 addition, with 620 HP, and a $130k price tag.

      thái nguyen Want a comparison?
      NSX is faster because more power and AWD... and That's it.
      The LC500 is more fun to drive. LC500 built better and has higher quality finish then the NSX. LC500 has better sound engine. LC500 has a better ride quality. LC500 has a far better interior. Last but not least the LC500 cost thousands less. If you want a drag race warrior get the NSX if you want a better all around car that will be more reliable on top of it being fun to drive get the LC500. They both look cool so design wise they both get good points.

    Silver and white are the best paint for this car. I've seen silver, tho, it aint as sexy sexy as white pearl. White pearl has an upper edge on the silver. I've seen black, it doesnt show the lines of the car, I've seen blue and it looks sporty, but white pearl is the best looking paint out of all of the paint offered. I've never seen a yellow paint, IK lexus is gonna release one, but I bet the yellow gonna look as great as the pearl white. I would love to see a metallic lava orange on this car. This is my dream Lexus until the LC F comes out because IK it would be a lot easier to get LC 500/ LC F than the ultra legendary LFA

    A pretty good review except for the "wart" part, bro'. Aren't reviewers supposed to be familiar with the product they are reviewing? This can be done by reading the OWNER'S MANUAL and learning all about the features of the product. You didn't do that and that's why your "wart" comment was so ignorant. Had you done the adult thing, you would have known the trackpad is mostly there to run MENU/SETUP and choose your personal prefs. After that, adults use VOICE COMMAND, so they never have to take their eyes off the road. I'm pretty sure Lexus expects their customers are smart enough to read "the instruction manual". Once you use VOICE COMMAND, which allows you to do just about anything you can imagine, you'll almost never use the trackpad. In my five years of owning my InfraRed LC, I've used the trackpad at most ten times. But then again, I'm an adult. For instance, when you were on the page showing the various entertainment options, you didn't need to be there. If you wanted AM radio, FM, Sirius, Spotify, CZcams or a number of other choices, all you had to do was push one button and say something. I like AM radio and in particular 560 on the dial so I say, "tune to AM560" and the "wart" takes me there and I avoid a lot of accidents due to my eyes leaving the road. A TOUCH SCREEN isn't the answer either. Same problem. You don't need to listen to me but if you want your reviews to be a bit more professional and fairer to the manufacturer, you might want to read the book on how to use the product instead of assuming you're a genius and everything in this complex, high tech world should be intuitive. I know Gulfstream Pilots don't think that way and neither should you.

      I can’t be bothered to read this diatribe however, it sounds as though you’re defending the Lexus infotainment interface and if that’s the case you lose. Goodbye.

      Edysin Simon This Lc 500 is better though than the boring looking S 560 coupe. For sure this will turn more heads and get you noticed far quicker than an s 560 coupe that looks like the E class coupe as well. Though I'll admit the Mercedes has a few luxury features omitted on the Lexus. I don't know why Lexus did that but that's its major draw back. I guess they were trying to get a balance between comfort and performance and dropped a few features to save weight.

    It will be interesting to see how these do once the novelty wears off in a market segment that doesn't really exist anymore. The Continental GT and DB11 have loads of badge cachet, this doesn't have any so it can't rely on that. It's too sporty and far too small for the traditional S-class coupe buyer. It's *1000* pounds heavier than a 911 or the new Aston Vantage, so it likely won't impress those buyers either. Seriously, this car is heavier than a Honda Pilot. What happened, Lexus?

      David Kay There is no market wearing off with this car. This Lexus will always be a car people are going to want. It's really special the market won't effect this car.

    • @samsonokoro5036
      @samsonokoro5036 Před 6 lety +1

      David Kay but it's selling more than its Mercedes-Benz rival in the US so far. So I don't get what you are talking about one bit. The s class coupe and sl are very low in sales. Same with the Bentley's cause they are damn expensive. This Lc 500 has sold an average of 400 a month since it went on sale beating it's Mercedes-Benz rival flat out.
