When will the world understand that Ricardo is EXPERIMENTAL artist? Not every DJ has to obey the same rules like 1000 other DJs. You know what you get when you go to Villalobos set. You will KNOW it will be exceptional, memorable, crazy. Sometimes it's the best night of your life, sometimes it's weird. That is the cost for not being average boring.
In this case, Experimental sounds like an excuse for playing shitty music with awful mixing. I mean, i'm all for getting off it at raves, but when you're the guy who's in charge of playing the music and being paid huge amounts of money to do so, surely there's a line.

This video is precisely why Ricardo and Seth are two of the most entertaining DJs there are, they may be high but they’re having fun and taking risks musically - you’ll never see Dave Clarke playing an edit of Gotye but Ricardo makes it work - also for those of you criticising the mixing, please, both of them can mix brilliantly, there’s a few sloppy transitions but it’s still good. The unpredictability of this pair is what makes them such big performers.
Villalobos is a lie, to talk about technique, improvisation and surprise the public you should have known the scene of Valencia and its DJs more than 25 years ago, "Spook, Chocolate, Barraca, Puzzle, ACTV, NOD". Listen mixed to Front 242 with Wim Maertens, or to the Ramones with A Split Second, or The Sisters of Mercy with krafkwert.

you may be right about that, I'm all in for ricardos taste of music (most of the time). but that performance is just bullshit - and he did that quite often in the last 2 years. I'm really lucky about the fact that I was able to see some good sets from him in the last years.

you may be right about that, I'm all in for ricardos taste of music (most of the time). but that performance is just bullshit - and he did that quite often in the last 2 years. I'm really lucky about the fact that I was able to see some good sets from him in the last years.
He plays shit and is probably staying stoned all the time in his studio not making any music
I don't think people hate about his music choice (minimal house is incredibly dope). it's about these horrific rookie mistakes, bad transitions, no build-up, no flow.... I respect Ricardo, he's one of the reasons why the romanian scene got so much attention outside of romania but man, I could name at least 10 romanian that are more skilled in any department than Ricardo
Ricardo is the one true dj, conforms to nothing, you never no what ya gonna get, and I personally think that’s the true art of djin. Dropi g tunes ya never heard anywhere else

this is not a set, this is an ending, his set was over and he was just fooling around like everytime he does since he first started dj-ing in 89. people laughed at him and most of the time they would've leave the dancefloor he this guy was playing music. he's good, I've been at his parties.

Poor Ricardo, sweet guy, but obviously very troubled.. Let's hope he gets help soon and can come back bigger and better than before. It's not too late for your comeback
I feel sorry for those people to hear a 30 min version of somebody that I used to know with a wired mixing in between... But then I guess some times people reach a level if they shit on a mic their crowd will go crazy for them...
