      Thank you, Dr. Sledge.
For what it's worth i would absolutely dig a Kaballah class by you. I am Christian, or some kind of heretical offshoot anyway, but to me, contacting God is contacting God and I cant wait to see how much my personal religious experiences, which fit the job of prophet decently. I absolutely feel insane saying that but Id be curious to see if the experiences fit inside a YHWH-oriented mystical framework.
So yeah come to seattle and teach kaballah lol

      (The Qur’an, 16:51-54)
God has declared: ‘Do not take two divinities; there is only One Divinity; so fear Me alone!’
“To Him belongs everything in the heavens and the earth; and to Him obedience is due always. Do you, then, fear anyone other than God?”
“Whatever blessing you have is from God. And when harm afflicts you, it is to Him that you groan.”
“Yet whenever He lifts the harm from you, some of you go on to associate others in devotion with their Lord.”

7 minutes in, so far and really looking forward to this.
I am not religious or spiritual at all. I shed my religious upbringing like an uncomfortable and poorly-fitting coat decades ago. I have no idea what "spirituality" means to me personally, and I'm skeptical that the word even has an objective non-personal meaning. My interest in religion and spirituality is firmly rooted in the exact sort of "historical materialist" methodology you champion - I'm interested in them purely as cultural constructs that form, evolve, diverge, merge and cross-pollinate in cultural contexts through history.
I have zero interest in "becoming a Kabbalist" and I honestly doubt I could listen to a Kabbalist teaching Kabbalah for more than about 5 minutes without rolling my eyes and noping right out of there. But a 10 part lecture series from Dr Sledge on the subject? I am SO up for this!

@@spiltmilk8868 you are SO right! I still remember my first college Western Civ class. Everyone was just chilling and talking, and I am frantically taking notes. Fortunately, my professor quickly realized what the problem was. I'm sure I looked petrified. He kept me after class, and confirmed his suspicions about where I went to high school. He had other students from my school with the same problem. He was gracious enough to provide me a separate curriculum. He allowed me to write papers instead of taking tests, as he knew there was no way I could study enough to pass. I had never even encountered Greek mythology, much less learned about the civilization around it. He took me on as a private study for the subsequent courses. He taught me everything I do know about history. I know my parents thought they were doing the right thing, but I would tell everyone not to do that to their children! It is really difficult in the real world!!!

Later it became F you. Now I say this with some hesitance because my late husband was a Lawyer and half the time enjoyed pulling my leg so to speak at the different culture of words. They speak English of course but don't use the same words we do in America. I had given birth to my youngest child in 2002 and trying to buy baby items was a nightmare I wanted a crib and they call it a cot, a pacifier is a dummy and diapers are nappies LOL. I would very much love your take on Sephardic Jews in moorish Spain. Considering there’s a lot of history regarding them and being black Jews I hope there will be more light on this in the future.

Excellent work and scholarship. You're a living treasure trove! I so appreciate how deeply you commit to understanding the theologies, magical arts and sciences, and spiritual principles in this content while remaining firmly in historical materialism. Love seeing you work in this format where your humor shines through even more! So excited to watch this whole series in order! (Josh of Nazareth! "So these people did emerge, and they did manage to get themselves killed pretty consistently...") lol

You should consider making a discord server for your Patreons to discuss the topics in your videos with each other. It would also encourage more ppl to support your work, not that they should need more encouragement since your work is simply amazing.

Maybe at some point ! I think it's a great idea I would just have to find the time to moderate it or find folks to do it for me but I think it's a really solid idea thanks for the recommendation

I completely agree with your comment. I'm a new Patreon on my other CZcams channel. I have spent days and hours going through Dr Sledge videos some more than once. I don't have anyone to discuss some topics that come to mind. I'm 54 and a widower. I don't have anyone to bounce questions too. I think it's a great opportunity to get good feedback. For example I wanted to find information about Melchizedek for a study I was putting together in short I have concerns about some CZcams channels that possibly don't have accurate information. I have thoroughly enjoyed working through Dr Sledge videos. Again great idea for Patrons.

@@paulinesereni5417 I really think it's a solid idea. Hopefully I can do something like that when I (b"sd) go full time with Esoterica which would be early next year at the earliest. I really want to create a space for folks to explore these ideas in a careful way and that platform seems great. But, that's only possible given the generous support I get from folks like you. Thanks so much, it's humbling and I am very grateful!

@@TheEsotericaChannel Dr Sledge I'm extremely grateful for your academic achievement that is apparent in each video. I have already taken language classes years ago in Hebrew and Greek. Now I'm working on Latin. ( I'm really struggling ) It's a honor to be able to be a Patron.

Fantastic class as always. As I have some expertise in the realm of shamanistic practices, I wanted to say that it is modern shamans who treat individuals for their individual problems (which is BTW odd because in the realm of the spiritual, things are not seen as separate so the "individual" is a highly problematic concept.) Be that as it may traditionally, it was the shaman's job to take care of the community as a whole entity of which the problems of individuals, to the extent that is even a meaningful term, were often only the focus of this or that communal imbalance between the community and various aspects of the Spirit World. A shaman takes care of his or her village in its entirely. In short, the job was precisely the same as you are describing for the Israelite "shamans" (aka prophets).
