IBJJF Rule 6.2.1 Lack of Combativeness Classified similarly to serious penalties, lack of combativeness entails: C) When both athletes pull guard at the same time, the referee will start a 20 second countdown. If at end of this 20 second countdown, even if the athletes are moving, one of the athletes does not reach the top position, does not have a submission in hold,or is not imminently completing a point scoring move, the referee will stop the fight and give a penalty to both athletes. In this situation, the referee will restart the combat in standing position.
See also rule 3.5 When both athletes pull guard at the same time, the athlete who achieves top position first is awarded an advantage point. Obs: In cases that the athlete achieves the top position by going straight to the side-mount, he will not receive points nor an advantage for the guard pass.
I don't know what was this referee watching, maybe he thought both of you were too stationary, but I saw clear intention and movement from both of you.
My ibjjf course has been back for a while now, but if I remember correctly, the situation is as follows; Both athletes pullen guard, therefore the stalling regulation starts from the time when both are seated. Because neither of them improves his position significantly, the warning is given. That happens several times and at the 4th warning is DQ. The stalling regulation always comes into force if you do not improve your position.
I love when people yell stuff at the competitor that doesn’t help them. Like “hey get out of there.” In this case at least he did give good advice. What a crappy match!
DQ was rough, not really understanding the rules BUT, if your your gameplay is resulting in warnings, why continue the same plan, clearly the ref wasn't going to have a bar of it, what did you expect to happen? isn't there a saying somewhere about someone doing something over and over but expecting different results? even the corner is screaming for you to get up.
The rules are clear you can’t double guard pull someone has to come up. Bunch of cautions and then a DQ. You even get an advantage for coming up so I really don’t understand why people let this happen they know the rules
One of the blue belts at my gym in October kept getting warned that he had to work when he was in the finals against a 10th planet opponent even though our guy was trying to pass and work and the other guy just sat their and did nothing sometimes refs don’t know what they are doing I guess
I'm confused Danielle, Ive been training little over 10 years now watched hundreds of matches. At the 1:50 mark when you inverted and started attacking why did he stop? I'll probably edit this comment because I'm not finished watching the whole thing yet! 😅😅 EDIT: I have watched multiple men's and womans matches do the exact thing. I dunno i think the ref was just being a hater. Just sucks that the judge isn't consistent across the board for everyone. I got barataplata at no gi pans 2013 as a blue belt. Definitely a shoulder lock the ref called a bicep slice and my opponent was DQ'd
To discourage double guard pulling the ibjjf implemented a rule that the competitors have 20 seconds to work. The first person to come up to the top position gets an advantage point. If nobody comes up then the ref stops the match and both competitors get a penalty and the match restarts on the feet. 4 penalties equal a dq. In this case nobody got up so double dq
The referee robbed us of a fun match between two high level competitors. This is one that I would have loved to have watched play out, because both competitors are skilled and also engaging with the rest of the BJJ community. Seth Daniels needs to put this on a F2W card so that we can see a full match happen.
@@daniellekellybjj Me either! And, in the description you say "After this they had our previous opponents that we had beaten fight for first place." What the... so your opponent, who won this match due to the Ref DQing you for reasons unknown ( she also looked confused ), was also shut out of the first place match???
Shouldn't have been dq'd when you were being extremely active on the ground. I don't know BJJ, nor the rules, but from what I've seen in the OFF and other BJJ competitions, you can't do much if you're not on the ground.
This too complicated. Cost lot of money getting there. Makes people not want to compete on the mats tournament style. Tournament rules prevent participants from using there real grappling skills.
Typical ibjjf lol the game has changed as their rule set hasn’t. If I’m correct, if you would’ve popped up as she stayed on her bottom they would’ve given you a point or at least an advantage
i don't know a lot about the rules, but i've watch a LOT of BJJ vids and i've never seen anything like this before. it seemed pretty clear you were fighting for position. i can understand if you weren't trying to advance or to stand you up, but penalizing and DQ? it's crazy
Horrible representative of a jiu-jitsu match. Again nobody wants to watch a tug of war match with 2 girls flopping on the floor and pulling on each others sleeves. Literally a tug of war match.
BlazingSerenade you can disagree with the rule, but in this case it was applied correctly. If you pay close attention you will see that in a three ref system, the center referee puts up the sign for the dq and then has to wait for the other two referees to agree. Please refrain from disparaging someone when you lack understanding of the profession.
I have no idea what’s going on but I think you should’ve “came up” lol

Still dumbest rule in our sport
And that's why I'm not fighting under these rules.

Adrian Niegebar thanks for the explanation.
If both opponents pull guard, why is only one of them assessed a penalty?
JR Yuen both are given the penalty. That’s why both are DQ’d in this video, they both got warned 3 times but hit a stalling penalty for the 4th time.
@@seancunningham8571 I guess the headline threw me. I got the impression only Kelly had been DQ'ed. Thanks for the clarification.
Why didn't Danielle Kelly just try to go for a takedown? Strange to keep pulling guard when it's lead to your previous 3 warnings.
Literally you herd her coach say come up for the 2pts. But not doing that and just playing footsies she lost the match.
Four double guard pulls in a row deserved a DQ.
I agree! Boring bjj!

What, I don’t get ibjjf?!! To be honest, It’s so tough to hear your coaches from the sideline at those tournaments. I just look, nod and smile haha!
What are you thinking about before the match starts?
so touching for an excellent video
This is so badass to watch! seeing two people in the zone like this is a besutiful thing ! #respect your stance is super intimidating
That's absurd.
What is this kind of belt? Green- yellow
I got a little confused everything was Fine 🤔
Un suscriptor activo ajajaja😁😁
it was a double guard pull and they were both active, no reason to stop this.
All the entries were from you tho.
I agree with mtkube believe because of not any one going up for the 2 points and becoming too stationary
Atanas Atanasov I literally copied and pasted the rule directly from the IBJJF rulebook
@@mtkube I know but if you see the matches every referee judges differently you can say he was to harsh but I do understand why he does it
Atanas Atanasov the rules are the rules.
I would have come up (what’s ‘come up’?)
Anyway i have question are you thinking of fighting in MMA ?!!
I hope not
I hate the footsie battle
you should have just stood up and gotten some points. coach was saying it
Didnt get a gold medal cause you didnt wanna train takedowns smh
Look at the fights in the background. There not coming up. I don’t understand the rules at all
I should of said matches instead of fights.
Did they explain to you the reason why you got the DQ?.
Merrille Richardson no. Lol
@@daniellekellybjj that ref should have gotten DQ'd for not telling you why he gave you a DQ 😤

Subbed👌🏼 ...as in CZcams😂
The rule set is so lame, I'm glad you've leveled up to WNO where competitors are allowed to do actual jiu-jitsu

That needs explaining...….
