My Grandfather had the Red Cigarette truck....
It was fast but the Daytona Iroc was faster.....well I ended up getting his RT Daytona iroc
YES! LOVE THIS FORMAT! Time to share for them and blow it up!
A rich kid in high school (his parents owned a paving company that he now owns) had one of these and destroyed everybody on Friday and Saturday nights. Super cool truck and it held up to the abuse for years.
Right up to the point the turbo bearings went bad OR the electronics failed. hell GM couldn't even work on these cars unless they sent an Engineer from the factory cause the meatfisted eggheads turning wrenches never could get it right. And if it is out of warranty, Hope you know a Mechanical Scientist ............ THAT'S why they never sold well. Hell Buick did the same thing with the Grand National in the middle 80's that is a living legend to this day. GM tried to put that into a truck AND an SUV, both great smash hits for tech, but no sell in showroom.
@@anonimous2451 These didn't sell that many units due to their price point as most people back then purchased trucks to do the kind of work you need a truck to do and no one wanted to buy a truck that couldn't do what all the other trucks could do at a cheaper price. GM had to ultimately lower the msrp just to sell the stock they had and that wasn't profitable. Had absolutely nothing to do with mechanical or electrical problems.
@@jeffscott3160 Blah blah blah...... your point is moot. The fact they COULDN'T sell em is exactly the reason they did not sell. And of course the other problems evolved after some months of ownership. Which in effect has the same principle of NOT buying a first or second year model of a NEW Model to begin with and I can site numerous examples if you like.
@@anonimous2451 Blah blah blah, If you don't have anything intelligent to add to the conversation then how about you get off mom and dad's computer and get back to playing with your lego's.
There was another problem caused by greedy dealers adding surcharges to the sticker price . I went to my local dealership to look at a new 454SS when they came out in 1990 , they had tacked on an additional $10,000 ( 10 K ) to the MSRP . I told them " good luck with that " , and they sat on it for almost two years before selling it .
This series is about to be crazy bro keep it up
Agree!
I was walking through the parking lot and saw a dude in one of these. he confirmed it was the fast one. he also said it was the only one in socal.
Im from recommend. So id say yea.
Dang bruh
Boy do I remember !!
I have watched every video. The quality is unmatched. Pacing is perfect, custom animations and good research, you've got great scripts and This is officially my favorite channel to see upload these days. 1 mil here we come.
+1 lol
These episodes hit so good.
Just found this. I'm in love.
This video was a time machine for me, I actually sold the syclone and typhoon out of Hallett Pontiac in Miami now closed. I always took the Typhoon out for lunch and not the Syclone because it was roomier. That Typhoon would whip on 911's and be comfortable at the same time.
Syclone, Typhoon and Grand National. 3 legends should never been forgotten.
america wasn't ready for domestic turbos...
@@mannnygz dodge had alot of turbo vehicles back then. They were cool but unreliable .
hyped for the forgotten legends series, 337 to the moon!!!
I truly miss my Syclones, they were the most bang the buck little trucks/vehicle you could get, I drove one cross country a couple of times and it never disappointed. Low maintenance and always ready to jump. Great vehicles, initially they were to cost $45,000 , but when they didn't sell (only 3,000 made) prices dropped and people got lucky to be able to afford a quick little race truck. Great video, thank you for making and posting this , it brings back some great memories! Liked and subbed!
Price was why they didn't sell well. Nearly double what a mid trim Camaro was at the time. Quality was also suspect in the small GM truck platform.
Wow. 45 grand back then? Answers a lot of questions.
25,790
â@rexradar9297 to bad they didnt know this was the holy grail. 45k would be a fkn steal now.
Really curious to see a Ford lightning video. Once a legendary truck known be a top race truck now converted to a eletric truck
It didn't sell well because the dealers were putting $15K premiums on them because they were limited production vehicles. I know this for a fact because I tried to buy one in 1991 when I was back from the ME with 6 months worth of combat pay in my pocket.
Your content and the squidd's are underrated keep up the good work
Trying my best brođ more to come too
That's another great channel!
â@@lindseyormsbeefr
Love this channel! No BS, No clickbait. Just what we want to see.
So glad this channel is gaining traction, this is kind of quality id expect from a channel with 3mil subs. Keep it up bro
Bro there huge on tiktok, go check them out there
Now thatâs a legit cold air Intake! I absolutely love straight 4, v6 and v8 NA motors making big power ! Currently my mustang 2 has a crazy sounding 2.5lima 4 cylinder making 400 NA. Can be pushed up to 450 ish with race fuel and a high 50 degree day! It sounds so badass !! Back in the early 2000s and still today in the Marine world, there is big blocks based on Chevy motors making 750-850 NA HP out of a 510 cu motor.
Have seen waaaayyyyy over 12-1300 with a 598 or 632 in the marine world.
Yea love big HP NA motors. Australian GM Holdens utes used to have world's fastest ute in the Guiness world records. NA 6 litre LS . have to check the numbers on how fast compared to this video pickup.
Growing up my good friends Dad had this vehicle, Cylone, Typhoon, Grand National, 1994 Suburban 454 with a whipple supercharger. Split window corvette, and a 1967 GTO Judge. He loved GM and used their engines in various racing teams.
I'm sure we all remember the adds and the boasting. I saw the truck take out a Ferrari at a dragstrip in 1991 as part of the Nationals for NHRA in Denver. I never have forgot that moment. Someday I will have one of these.
Of course banks had a hand in this hahahaha
Man this is a legit series. The accurate information is greatly appreciated, and respected. Much love from Abbeville/Erath đŻ
Damn, the Banks 5.0 N/A stroked 4.3 V6 made 30 more horsepower than the Ford 5.2 voodoo V8!!! Thatâs crazy! With an
N/A pushrod V6 that made 140hp stock, an engine with zero aftermarket support at the time!
There are a lot of narrators who just phone it in and rely on snippets of stupid clips to flesh out their vid but this guy is next level with great narrating and really good videos.
Good work mate respect from the UK
SO excited for a new series!
Would be cool to do one on RUF if it isnât already planned
I had a 92 and 93 Typhoons. Both were modified with several Kenne Bell parts, but the 92 had a different turbo, injectors and cam. It would make my girlfriend lose control of her bladder on a boosted, braked start. It was wicked. Sold it to a college kid in 97. Kept the 93 until 2000. Sold it to a guy in Colorado Springs. Enjoyed both of them.
As a kid I was obsessed with the syclone. It wasn't until I got my license I was able to experience one sorta. 1st generation eclipse and talons were the first turbo cars we tuned then on too vr4 3000gt. As a kid mom had a Shelby Daytona. So I had been rather into turbo configuration of all kinds. My buddy traded a 3000gt vr4. For a typhoon. And when it was running it was legit street machine. When being the key word.
We had one of these for sale in a showroom here in the UK in the early/mid 90s. I knew exactly what a weapon it was.
Hands down, your best video to date! But, as a SY/TY enthusiast, i'm kinda biased on that opinion, LOL! Keep up the amazing videos brother, your fan base is growing exponentially. (Edited for my fat thumb writing SY/TU instead of SY/TY đđđ)
Proof that GM can build anything they want when they want to. I'm not big on GM, but I do very much admire their research department and it's accomplishments. Legendary would be putting it lightly.
dude your videos are so well made. this is talent
Itâs crazy just the regular 4.3 vortec was a pretty stout decently quick motor for the time, I had an opportunity to go for a ride in both the cyclone and the typhoon, very nice interior and insane acceleration, also they sounds pretty dang good for a v6
Man I love the syclone, wish I could afford one
This and the Typhoon will always be a couple of my all-time favorite not-cars ever made.
So glad I found this channel.
Even if itâs something I know about the presentation makes it worth a watch.
Super solid
Awesome video. Thanks for giving this truck the love it deserves.
That article about the Syclone vs Ferrari in Car & Driver, was one of Patrick Bedard's best.
Bro I love that you are doing this channel. Please don't stop. I never knew about these cars
The Dodge Little Red Express Truck was extremely fast for a mid 1970s truck as it was equipped with the Dodge 360 engine which was extreme overkill for a step-side truck. I do believe the car magazines that tested the Dodge Little Red Express Truck said that the truck ran low 14s stock, which was even faster than the Trans Am that same year.
ANOTHER great episode! You are definitely on a roll. More please.
Man I envy your level of editing and storytelling, love to watch your stuff!
I had a 93 Typhoon many years ago. I could keep that truck on the line holding the brakes and building enough boost that the front wheels would actually start spinning before i even let it launch. The race was over in the first 100 feet for almost anything that dared to try. Forest Green with Grey cladding, Concept Neeper Neptune Chrome wheels and four 12s in the back - and was still beating Grand Nationals at will.
Great video guys, just happened to run across this as we are knocking the dust off our all original bone stock 27,000 mile Syclone. It really is incredible interesting the range of people who know or don't have a clue about these trucks and what they were. Even today, 30+ years on, they are incredible machines capable of incredible things.
This is hands down the best car series Iâve ever watched on CZcams please keep going man this series jus earned you a subscriber.
I'm looking forward to this series!
Saw one back when they came out. It rose up on all fours and took off like a scalded rabbit on a rice burner!
I just assumed that people thought "Christ, if you can't even spell the name right there's no way you can build a decent truck".
I've seen many videos and read a lot of content about these trucks but your video had facts i didn't know. Keep up the good work
I got my hands on the SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) development papers and PAS documents which helped a lot with this
@@337speed awesome, I have a documents of my Syclone from PAS as well. Include truck shipping, Dyno and etc.
You got it all right!
Must have been regional, sales wise because I seen Typhoons and Syclones all over Ohio. Both were pretty popular in Columbus specifically. We even had a few Saleen Explorers running around. Now THAT'S something you need to do a video on. The Saleen Ford Explorers.
There are significantly more SyTys east of the Mississippi, but sales were all over the US. In fact I've seen paperwork that each GMC dealership was expected to display/sell one.
but I also know dealers shipped them off to other dealerships if there was a demand elsewhere
I'm in south east and grew up in 80s and still to this day never seen one in person. It was all 5 0s and a few GNs back then
For sure. I wouldn't say they were "common" here in MA but during the late 90s I'd see them pretty often. And there was always a few up at the drag strip on street nights
My S10 was manufactured in Ohio.
Love your content dude!! Keep up the great work!!
That outro was perfect. Such a good video. Keep em coming
Keep seeing your videos pop up, and you are always talking about stuff I grew up loving as a kid
Watching from down the street in Baton Rouge. Love the content. Keep it up!
Bruh you and the black car guru been going crazy lately and Iâm fucking here for it keep at it brother
Thanks bro!
I subscribed as soon as I seen you were even willing to do a video on a syclone. I had a typhoon years ago. Which led me to my current gnx. Keep up the good content brother.
Those were the shit when I was younger. Always kept an eye out for a syclone or typhoon.
Bro ur channel goes hard asf love ur videos
Brings great memories. This vehicles are legends back in the 90s...
This and the Buick are pure magic.
Bro,your channel gives me life. Keep it up!đŻ
Sick video! can't wait for ep. 2
Bro you be snapping!! Been with you for a while. Keep going!!
I always love your content. Informative and entertaining
not forgotten, I have three Typhoons in my garage right now đđ»
I always wanted a Typhoon, which is the SUV version.
Theyâre really hard to find and the owners are very proud of them.
Canât really blame the owners, itâs worth whatever the owners are will to take to part with it.
Funny I was just thinking about these few days ago!! With all the old school pickup craze lately, these size old school pickups are going to
make a HUGE comeback very soon!!
Iâm not surprised if their are people already restoring and building their own đ»
Iâll definitely never forget this bad boy ever. Big legend
Your channel is goin to blow up ma boi
I still remember when I was young and seeing 2 full lanes of Syclones and Typhoons. Thanks for the videos
Oh hell yeah! Great choice, I didn't even realize I've been waiting for this one!
Love this video!!!! Currently own a 1985 SWB S10 thatâs getting a LQ4/4L80E
I don't think this truck was ever forgotten! It's just people never knew about it. I found out about it and I stil remember it
this was a bad ass video man great work
This is probably the fastest growing channel I've ever witnessed myself personally lol. Your killing it bro. Fucking killing it.
Keep up the good work man!!
Well done, can't wait for the next vid!
On the semi-legal street scene we had a cyclone crushing everyone back 20 years ago here in Sweden.
Total badassery these trucks were head turners back in the day. I remember wanting one of these when I grew up... well it's nice to have dreams. I have seen a few (probably knock offs) in some fields here in the south just rotting breaks my heart. I still want one
LolâŠ.I was in my 67 gto on my way back from a club get together. Somewhere in the early 90âs. Sitting at a light and a cyclone pulled up at the light next to me. Iâd heard about them and thought Iâd see if the hype was true.
Yup!
That thing took off like someone stepping on a bar of soap! Impressive!
Thatâs the only one Iâve ever seen too. I imagine theyâre all tucked away in collectors garages.
A very well done video THANK YOU !!
He back at it again yâall! I love the Channel he donât miss!
Great video. These are amazing trucks:)
Very well researched video. A lot of footage that I havenât seen yet and I consider myself a Syclone fanboy.
Great video. Really well done
We still have a couple running around our town, both Syclone and Typhoon, and they are still bad ass as ever!
I love these videos keep them coming
So glad I found your channel. Keep up the great work!!
What a fantastic, filled to the brim with information presentation - it probably means more to me since I remember them
Quality production man
I didnât buy a super clean Green with grey cladding Typhoon back about 10 years ago. Now 4x the cost.
Damn that syclone is crazy though
Great narration
Another great video!
Another banged video!
My best friends has a black Syclone with 8,500 original miles. Previous owner installed a beautifully fitted 150 N.O.S. kit. And,..... it is flawless. They look so wide and fat when its in front of you. All-wheel-drive bliss too. The very first time he let me drive it,....I got pulled over. If your rolling about 45 or 50mph,.. and you fkn mat that S.O.B.??? You better be strapped tight. Its beyond impressive. I've never seen that truck take an L on the street. And that 4.3,....0-60mph is BS. That thing got to 60 and even more impressive,....100mph in a flash. So good.
Dude your videos are awesome
I LOVE IT!!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! TOTALLY AWSOME VIDEO!!!!! A MUST-WATCH!!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!!
i remember these when i was in highschool. they had a no joke reputation when u seen one. legendary truck.
Been prayin for this video
Iâve always liked the Syclone since I was a teenager. I still to this day would love a Typhoon in as a secondary vehicle
much love from LC,LA!
Love you brother, keep it up.
Great video like always! This is my dream truck, amazing performance for the 90's. Hopefully in a few years, prices are high right now. Just a few years ago they were cheap.
Never going back down....
W series definitely do more bro
