  • Pretty sad story on JASON PATRIC’s relationship with grandfather JACKIE GLEASON...
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Amazing episode this week. Kiefer Sutherland (24, Designated Survivor) and Jason Patric (The Lost Boys) join us this week to talk about their bond built off of The Lost Boys, being intimidated by other actors, and what it was like growing up with Hollywood royalty in their families. Kiefer and Jason reminisce on how they met and how they each developed as young actors by helping certain productions of movies. The guys reveal some funny stories while on the set of Lost Boys and Kiefer’s wedding and later we discuss how social media and cinema coexist in modern day entertainment.

Holy shit. I just Googled Jason Patric's bio. His mother is Linda Miller. She played Brooke's Shield's mother in the movie, "Alice, Sweet Alice". Have watched that movie many times, and had absolutely no idea that she is Jason Patric's mother. The lady is gorgeous. Had no clue she was the wife of Jason Miller. Had no clue she is the daughter of Jackie Gleason. Very interesting to just now find this out. And just read that Jackie Gleason died in 1987. One June 24th. My birthday. This interview snippet is one hell of a fascinating 5 min, and 19 seconds. Very interesting.

Some people like Jason Patric would rather say they sometimes didn’t know a family member rather then talk bad about that person by letting the world know what kind of a good person or bad person that person was then to have everyone hate him. Behind closed doors there are parents and grandparents who are very abusive in someways to there children and grandchildren that the ones who are being treated good by there families sometimes can’t imagine that or even believe things like that can even happen.
Jackie Gleason’s older brother Clement was 14 years old when he died in 1919 leaving him to be an only child at 3 years old. Then he was abandoned by his father Herbert in December of 1925 when he was 9 years old. Then in April of 1935 his mother Mae died at 49 years old when Jackie Gleason had just turned 19 years old. From there Jackie got married at 20 years old and then had 2 daughters by the time he was 23 years old. Jackie Gleason had a short sad life until he was 19 years old. But from 19 years old to the ripe old age of 71 (52 years) Jackie Gleason had amazing career and an amazing life. Nobody gave him anything. Jackie Gleason was a man who had no education, especially in show business, he never went to acting school or film school to become an actor or a creator of television that he became a great comedian when he created The Honeymooners. Jackie Gleason made a life for himself. He was a pure genius. I give him a lot of respect for that. But if his grandson Jason Patric says is true that Jackie Gleason never financially helped his daughter then I have no respect for him as a father figure or a family man. I’m not saying that in life that a parent or grandparents should give there kids/grandkids everything, all I’m saying is anyone who created there own family should give them at least the knowledge of knowing how to make there own money.

So sad to hear this story of how removed and self centered Jackie Gleason was. Man and he looks so much like. I was watching him in Wayward Pines. Such a good actor. Man so heartbroken to hear that someone who’s comedy brought such good feeling and laughter was so emotionally disconnected. I read that his mother kept him inside and wouldn’t let him socialize because she lost a brother and his father and Jackie was all she had left. Definitely probably impacted how he ended up. Jason is so level headed and strong pursing his own path successfully. Good on him.

This seems like a recurring thing for successful comedians. Peter Sellers was the same with is kids as was Richard Pryor if I am not mistaken. I am not sure what it is, but the common thread seems to be coming from poor backgrounds. It might be this idea of resentment or "I had it rough, why should you get it better than me?" I am on the fence about this cause I would find it hard to imagine being wealthy after being poor as I am and seeing my kids grow up to be those wealthy kids who looked down on me. I mean, consider that the man was from a time where, being the lead on what's even still today regarded as one of the biggest TV sitcoms of all time, the most prominent running gag was a husband enthusiastically threatening to beat his wife lol Which isn't to say THE HONEYMOONERS wasn't very often hilarious and good in different ways, without question it was so. But the nice tradeoff we always get for losing time is that we sometimes get to gain perspective. @bossluigi92 Tell us you are an awful parent without telling us you are an awful parent. Did you listen to this interview or were you too triggered seeing yourself in it? Jason said Gleason was giving $100 dollar bills to doorman while his own daughter & her kids went hungry. Jason was not asking his grandfather to pay for a sports car or even the rent, maybe just make sure his family had enough to eat. If Gleason was charitable with strangers, there was clearly something making him deliberately hateful to his own family. That is simply gross.
