  • In this video I go out on a solo hike in Vättlefjäll nature reserve. I'm field testing my new Trangia Saute Pan 25 with a creamy pasta dish. I'm also for the first time experiencing wine in a can to complement the food.
Pasta Chicken Alfredo - Modified for outdoor cooking, 1-2 servings:
    Tagliatelle 3 balls
    1 boneless chicken breast
    ½ cup heavy whipping cream
    2 Garlic cloves
    30 gram Parmesan cheese
    Rapeseed oil
    Butter
    Oregano, Thyme, Rosemary
    Salt, Black pepper, Paprika
    Nutmeg
    Parsley
    - Boil the pasta 1 minute short of al dente, leave it to rest in the pot
    - Season the chicken, fry it in oil until its cooked through.
    - Add a large nob of butter on the end to catch the flavours before removing the chicken breast. Let rest a couple of minutes before cutting it to bite size.
    - Fry the chopped garlic and some nutmeg in the butter for a minute.
    - Add the cream and simmer with grated parmesan until i starts to thicken
    - Add the pasta and simmer for a couple of minutes, season to taste if needed.
    - Top of with the chicken bites and some parsley for serving.

that looked really good. Thank you for directing me here. The reason I was asking about powder Alfredo was because I wanted to have less perishable stuff and be able to store it.
Your videos are very enjoyable, peaceful and informative. Thanks for taking the time to share this.
    hope you are well .

Thank you for your kind words Jim! I rarely use powdered or freeze dried, powdered milk the exception, but I appreciate your reasons. For multiday hikes my usual kind of outdoor cooking isn't ideal for the reasons you mention, I have made my own dehydrated food on a few occasions and thought I'd eventually make a video on the topic DIY dehydration in an ordinary oven the coming autumn. Cheers!

It's nice to see someone who appreciates the same same things I do. Only difference is I do it while cycle touring in as many remote areas as I can. And once again you have shared more exciting cooking ideas. Thank you yet again. Looking forward to part two 😊

My Trangia cooking guru! Very nicely done mate! The “I am being tolerant..no I really am being tolerant” look on your face and the bowed head silence was pure Wittgenstein. Looking forward to breakfast.

I know that this pan is made for the 25 but I accidentally bought it and I have a 27.but to my surprise it fits on the 27 perfectly it's a tiny bit high but fits inside the little clips just right. To travel with it I just put in on top of the 27 fry pan with a dish cloth in between. It works great and makes the 27 more use full without being as big as the 25.love it good video as always.

Thank you for another thoroughly enjoyable video! And thank you for the information about the sauce pan. I haven't seen any here in the states. I will definitely look into purchasing one. It is unfortunate that the Trangia storm cooker is not as popular here. Is is certainly a versatile and bulletproof system.

      @RedswedeOutdoors  Před 7 měsíci +1

Glad it was helpful Zachary. I guess that it's not so strange that other system are more popular, we tend to be at least a bit patriotic with our purchases, wether it's outdoor equipment, tools, car or clothes. The domestic stuff is often considered to be a bit better than the rest, I'm no exception from that rule... Cheers!

As long as you have access to water it's very practical, weighing little and taking a lot less space than the finished meal and as you point out no end of variations. All the best Thomas!

@@RedswedeOutdoors Yes definitely, and as you say, people are not aware of how easy the sounds travel over water, in the direction of wind or over calm water. The other way, against the wind is a little different. And I believe that snow is among the best absorber of sound in the nature. You can be pretty close to each other and don’t hear what the other person says 🤔
