    I haven't felt well enough to do origami for a while, and I knew a happyfolding video would be a good one to build some confidence with! I loved this model. Thanks for the excellent tutorial!

    Ok. Stop. To find the 1/3 of a paper... I just read in a (older) book: Do you know the "method"?: 1. vertical mountain fold, 2. diagonal fold (left bottom to right above), 3. fold right bottom to the middle. AND the point, where the diagonal from the 2. step and the fold of the last step meet is the 1/3! But here in the video: IT'S JUST GENIOUS, how easily and lightly the demonstrator is collapsing the paper in thirds! WOWWWWWW. Thank you. We need more videos like that to show us: "Stop overthinking, just do it!" ♥ ♥ ♥

    Phenomenal model. Tricky at places but very doable. I have a pattern which I purchased to make a couple of different "cut and paste" type 3D birds. I was going to make them for my Christmas tree this year but time got away from me. I love this model and will try it when I get home. If it goes well, would prefer to use origami model to a cut and paste model. Thank you again for your wonderful instruction. Happy New Year 2020, Sara.

  • @RichardDominguezTheMagicIsReal

    Well I watched this one a dozen times before actually folding it, I think because I use printer paper my folds tend to have a crumbled look to them but I finished it and it looks good if not neat, the single color paper isn't as nice as well he double, but I enjoyed folding it, hoping you and yours are well and thank you for sharing

    Thank you so much for the lovely tutorial. I normally stick to modular or geometric folding. I appreciate the tesselations and animals but have never really been inspired until last week when you gave us a glimpse of David Brills fantastic design. I knew then that you’d be able to teach me how and I can’t wait to give it a go.
    I feel goofy asking but is your channel monetized yet? I don’t want to skip commercials if it is because I really want you to succeed and continue .

      @Happyfolding  Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Rose, I'm glad you like the tutorial, especially if it's inspired you to stray from your usual areas of origami. I hope you'll have fun folding it!
      Yes, my channel is monetized. It doesn't bring in much money, but enough for me to buy origami paper and especially books to support the designers.

    just finished folding this one. difficult to stand. perhaps I should use more rigid paper like Tant than ordinary kami ? looks good from side, but not good from front .

    • @Happyfolding
      @Happyfolding  Před 5 lety

      The bird stands robustly only if the claws are angled in the correct way. Try adjusting the angle to change the weight distribution. Hope it helps!

      Thanks, Marc. Ah, I fear I still buy my Kraft paper locally. I haven't found an online sources especially for the different color combos. Also, I have no reliable source for any color combos - they seem to come and go without rhyme or reason.
