Me too, but ‘79. Unfortunately Dynasty tour which was probably considerably worse than ‘78 tour because of all the new Dynasty songs. I was 8 so it was freakin awesome!!!!! I still remember walking back to the car and my Dad was a little upset because it was so nuts with crazy people and weed all over the place. He was saying something like “I hope you liked that because we’re never doing that again!” I was just looking up at him watching his lips move. I couldn’t hear a thing he was saying because my ears were blown out. Just “eeeeeeeeeeee”, lol. Biggest smile on my face though.

I’m not really a KISS fan but can really respect how he clearly cares about his fans and enjoys performing. Some guys at his age completely lose the passion for it and are only there for the paycheck.

Kiss represents 50+ years of performance art disguised as music. The problem is they don't realize it. I never had the opportunity to see GWAR perform while Dave Brockie/Oderus Urungus was still alive. What I have observed online confirms my belief that bunch of metal nightmares come to life never took themselves seriously. Kiss never took their role as musicians seriously, and why should they? Tell that to the face of their de facto spokesperson, Gene Simmons, and he'd treat you like a West Bank Palestinian. Any band who would court 10-year-olds in the 1970s with a line of action figures has admitted their music isn't as important as their merchandise. They took off their costumes in 1983 and tried to make it as just another group, but couldn't attract their next generation of fans as a garden-variety rock band. Yes, rock band, as they themselves insist they're not "metal," IMO because that restricts their marketability. I've spent too long venting my spleen about these overpaid frauds. Should the R&R Hall of Whatever induct them at any time, I pray it is after I'm no longer an earthling.

This is why I was never able to get into Kiss. Gene's whole approach to music is backwards. He views the band primarily as a business venture and their music as a product line. We all have to find ways to exist within capitalism one way or another but if that's your primary motivation for doing what you do it will lack the depth and soul you feel in music made by truly passionate musicians who are motivated by making music.

@@louistorres their " legacy" is ruined. They stayed too long, Paul is using back track vocals, Gene can hardly move around on stage, it's only a visual tribute now, ticket prices are outrageous they let their lust for even more money drive them well beyond their physical limits.
