I'm convinced a Ranger fan working at News 12 gave the okay on this video. No Islander fan would air this. It must be the work of a brilliant troll.
As an Islanders fan, I do not agree with the video at all that the news sent out. I absolutely hate it and dont hestitate to distance myself from that toxicity. I thank Tavares for his service and although he broke most of our hearts by leaving, the separation was the best for both teams (fan bases aside) I am not a Tavares fan anymore but i respect his accomplishments with us and his decision to leave although it tore my heart out.

I'm an Isles fan and it pained me to see JT leave. I do acknowledge that Isles management screwed up and they certainly share some of the blame, but some of the blame does fall on Tavares because he constantly said he wanted to remain with the team and be an Islander for life. If Tavares did what Artemi Panarin is currently doing by saying that I'm going to test free agency then I wouldn't be mad at Tavares at all, I would then hold Isles management accountable.

I am surprised you guys didn't talk about the Bruins trade. Bruins picked up Johansson who happens to be the same guy Brad Marchand gave a flying elbow to last season and could of ended his career. Easily the most interesting trade done this deadline.

To all the Islanders fans that are upset about Tavares leaving, think like this:
every kid that grows up playing hockey dreams of playing for their favourite hockey team. Sometimes its their hometown team. Yes playing in the NHL is a privilege, but not many players get to play for their favourite and hometown team and be a star. If you had the chance to pick any team in the league to play for, and your favourite team growing up and the team that you went to games watching and dreaming of playing for, is finally a top team in the league and comes to you with an offer to play for them, would you? .. to any one that just answered 'no' to that, you're a straight liar. That's exactly why everyone plays the game. The NHL is mainly a business these days, but at the roots its still a game that everyone grows up loving. We play to hope to get the chance to win with our favourite team. You can't blame Tavares for leaving when the Islanders showed him no reason to believe that they were trying to win now. They had assets to trade away for players to help them win, and they didn't. He wants to win. He wants to play for his favourite childhood team. His hometown team. It's a great story that you now have a team that's performing well and could very well make the playoffs. But Islanders management didn't show Tavares any part of that.
Everyone lives life to hopefully fulfill their dreams. Tavares chose to that. We all would if we had the chance. Don't kid yourself. Don't lie to people and say you wouldn't. & don't hate on Tavares for doing what we all would have done. Take it for what you have. You have a competitive team without a player making $11M per season to which you can add more players with and create a true cup contender in years to come.
So to all, chill. This is a game. A business. But it's a dream that we'd all take if we had the chance.

You know who is going to tell the Pittsburgh Penguins GM that he doesn't know how to run a hockey team? The Steve Dangle podcast.
So, I explained the Cat Shit Guy thing to my wife. And then I asked her, "So, what's your best guess as to which Canadian City Cat Shit guy is from?" "Uh..... Oshawa?" She said. I am not making this up.
This team was arguable a goalie away from being a perennial contender. They could not wait, they refused to pay players and now what do they have? Tkachuk and chabot and you hope Brannstrom. Still years away now for now reason other than terrible management. Pathetic and inexcusable. Sens fans I actually feel sorry for you because you could have had a team to be proud of. Now you truly have a team that mimics the zero jersey. A true loss of a franchise right now.
I do get why they are hurt.
Guddys replacement last night was Luke Schenn, who made more good plays in one game (albeit against the ducks) than Guddy did all year in my opinion. Canucks fans are ecstatic.

Manifested Logic Don’t worry. This isn’t the kind of thing that can come back to bite us. If Matthews leaves in the future, it won’t have anything to do with this. Players only leave teams like the Islanders anyway. They don’t leave teams that are actually commited to winning. Stamkos is a good example of this. Just hope the Leafs stay commited.

How about get an actual goalie? Don't get me wrong I love Rittich, he's stole the starting job. But for a deep run in Playoffs? You want a legit starter! One who's used to that pressure.
New Yorkers are used to free agents coming and going all the time. This was personal, they took it as a shot at Long Island. Why? Because everyone in the New York area takes shots at Long Island. This just proved that there is merit to that criticism. The only thing I'll say in their defense is they were all too stupid to see it coming, so it probably was a shock to the system to everyone who roots for that team. They truly believed what they wanted to believe. I remember around this time last year talking to a friend who's totally rational except about this, and I just laid out exactly why I suspected (and possibly even expected) Tavares would leave, specifically for the Leafs. He couldn't believe what I was saying, just couldn't accept it. "But what if he loves Long Island? He said he loves living on Long Island!" And I was like, "What's he going to say? That he hates the place and can't wait to get out of there? He's a good guy, but you should read a lot into his refusal to sign an extension. And more to the point, who loves Long Island? Even you wouldn't live there, you're from Jersey and live in Larchmont." Just couldn't accept that he'd want to go home, that the Leafs were ready to win, and that it would be a totally fair thing to do for him and his family. And then he said something to the effect of "Every Islanders fan will hate him for the rest of his life if he does that." I made the point about shoe on the other foot how you might feel if he was from Syosset or Massapequa and wanted to come home. Didn't matter. Great guy, totally rational person - and he could be in that video.

It’s absolutely hilarious people are saying CBJ could struggle next year... Jones, Werenski, Murray, Savard, Nutivaara, Harrington, Carlsson coming out on D.. Dubois, Atkinson, Anderson, Jenner, Foligno, Wennburg, Bjorkstrand, Nash, Dubinsky plus other bottom 6 guys (Robinson, Hannikainen, Kukan, etc)... plus 30 Million in cap room to sign realistically a starting goalie and Duchene/Panarin/Dzingel... I think they will be fine.

Even in 2022 that was the stupidest video ever produced. It still makes me very uncomfortable. And I’m an Islanders fan saying this. Very embarrassing. I was heartbroken when he left and I was crying for a good hour. After the return game on February 28, 2019 I made a very embarrassing rant on Sean Avery after he was ripping the Islanders fan base for booing Tavares. And yes I regretted it at school the next week because I made it the next afternoon which was a Friday. I did delete it but it was very embarrassing. And I still regret doing that.
DO NOT praise calgary for staying put at the deadline lmao they tried to trade for Simmonds and he refused and apparently gave the canucks a "too good to be true" deal for edler that fell through because he didn't want to go to Calgary.

Ladies and gentleman I think we can officially say that Boston fans are much better than New York fans. The debate is over, Boston wins (per usual).
We aren't going to need any extra players if we can't get out of the 1st round. The Gaut could be a 1st line centre with Marner and Johnsson on his wings. Zaitzev has been really good lately and Gardiner has been unbelievable. If we can sign Gardnier for 5 mil, we should do it. Zaitzev is worth 4 mil if he is on the powerplay but as a #4 defenseman he is over paid. Some teams would love to have Zaitzev and he is good on the Leafs but not at that price. Also, get a new camera. Rasmus Sandin has the same points as Jordan Subban but he is -8.... and he is getting 29 minutes in a game. If he can't play defense in the AHL will he EVER play in the NHL? See TJ Brennan, Andrew Nielsen or Calle Rosen.

Gauthier isn’t close to a first line centre, he’s a good 4th liner, maybe 3rd on a really bad team. He wasn’t even 1C in the Marlies. Zaitsev hasn’t been good, he just hasn’t been noticeably awful. He’s a top 6 d man, his first year he was so sheltered. Any defence man who plays on 1PP would get more points, I don’t see that increasing value. Sandin is 19 as 20+ points as a U19 d man in a pro league. Calling him a bust is all sorts of idiotic.
@@tyingearl8133 Gauthier is a defensive centre and playing with 2 very dynamic wingers, he could put up the same numbers as Ryan Getzlaf 11 goals 57 points playing with Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry except Gauthier plays better defense and could probably score more than Getzlaf did. Getzlaf is a Number 1 centre. Zaitzev was awful until about 1 month ago and now he has been VERY good. As for Sandin, I never called him a bust but if he is poor defensively and is an average scorer (Rosen and Borgman are scoring WAY more and are better defensively) will he ever be good enough to play in the NHL? Jordan Subban is MUCH better dynamically on offense and he is nowhere near the NHL. How is Sandin ahead of Subban, Rosen or Borgman much less Liljegren who is focussing on his defense so he can make the NHL and has about the same amount of points as Sandin. Why isn't Liljegren getting 29 minutes? He is not -8.
