His primary goal in Crestwood is to seal the rifts, learn some secrets about the village and its mayor and ultimately meet with a warden ally that will further the story. But that's it. So it was a major letdown to be promised all of this and see none of it in the final game.
THIS is the game I fucking wanted.. that got me hyped.. It seems they removed all the aspects that got me excited for it, in the actual game. Things I miss: 1. Closer camera - not far out & unpersonal. 2. Dynamic choices & consequences - practically non existent. 3. Cinematic conversations - not ingame conversations (you know what I mean) 4. Slower, less flashy combat WITH IMPACT - Not endless chafing away at enemy health & feeling like you're slicing air. 5. Dynamic ingame options (burning boats, destroying ladders).
SharpWalkers I knew they would fuck up, since they've moved the release date. Oh yeah, like most of players needed those additional races and Cullen romance. Most DA players pick humans because: easier to associate with, they are a major part of population and the best known part of lore is about humans (old elven traditions, temples, lost outposts of Deep Roads - that's a friggin'mystery) I'd rather have a shorter game with human character, but with well developed backstory and more detailed plot and characters. And why the hell did they make everything so darn shiny in the game?!

Problem is, that should've never not been a part of Dragon Age, instead of something they decided to add (perhaps) too late. Like, I fucking love the Witcher 3 -- a game that did the defined character and background etc. really well -- but Dragon Age should not be like that. And while the dialogue wheel was done best in DA:I so far, it's still nothing in terms of role-playability compared to DA:O. And by this point I don't know where I'm actually going anymore, so finish it off by saying: I definately agree about the shiny. And not to mention the over the top FX of attacks. And... oh nevermind.

Ok the console excuse is total bs. As someone without a pc I have seen the capabilities of consoles. People forget a lot of game that have started on console and went to PC. It is ridiculous when companies and fans blame console when in reality it isn't the console's fault but the engines used and the companies who rush production *cough cough*
+Jullian Anderson Yes, but it's very difficult, I tried using cheat engine and cinematic tools. I ended up decreases the FOV and it got me close enough to my character to be enjoyable.
Things I wish was added 1. Keep's that had Advisor Choice 2.main enemy faction would attack your keep's 3.Inquisition army would help you take the keep's
Darth Alpharius for real they overplayed the keeps big time in this game. You only get like 4 keeps and once you capture them you can't upgrade them or anything.
It's surprising how little of this actually made it into the final game. You don't have these kinds of choices anywhere in the game. Might have made it a much better game if they had.

I loved Dragon Age: Inquisition, completed it about a week a go. Jesus though this is so different from the original, I watched this video countless times but never noticed it this much before! I hope DA4 displays some of what's shown in this!
Did i miss something or didn't they remove the entire " choose what you want to save option" either defending the village or the castle? and oddly enough all these videos showing this gameplay have been removed from youtube aswell
i cant find this ether on my second playthrough and nothing like this.most i got with that bar is when i sided with the Templar and i had to leave them to go get more Templars longer i was gone the more the bar would go down becouse they were dieing fighting a demon
yep totally removed it, and the whole choices & consequences isn't as impactful and dynamic as their demo's showed like the one where they showed redcliffe castle and your choice to send in leliana and her being tortured and couple of your companions die what not ends up not even mattering because of the whole that future never existed part, really disappointed.
Yeah I waited all game for this event! Then I finish it and realize they just took it right out of the game. I mean don't get me wrong I loved the game but what the hell happened to this memorable area?
I feel having this game on 360 and PS3 really downgraded the overall product at release. Hoping they release an upgraded version in the future with all this content put back in. Not gonna happen but a man can dream.
This game is nothing like what we actually got mainly because of EA: since they wanted the game to be released on both generations of consoles at the time (PS3/XBOX360/PS4/XBOX1) many of these elements couldn't be brought to all of them, thus having a game that had to be rushed and complete

So let me get this straight: Open world, clear black/white UI = Skyrim? You'd think that the only rpg the people who are saying this have played is skyrim.
And in the end, it was just button mashing until all enemies were dead, rinse and repeat. Also, that audience cheers at everything, even the fact you have to load each part of an area (like Orlais) from a map instead of travelling on foot and that it's always day time or night in each area.
Fuck this shit. Really. DA:O was one of the best RPGs I've ever played. Why turn it into a button mashing fest? It's like they didn't go deep enough with DA 2. Also, why removing all the different origin storylines? Why not going back on what you screwed up at DA 2? They are filling with shit a franchise with so much potential.
Who said it's a button mashing fest, they've clearly stated in one of their diaries that there will be 2 different kinds of playstyles, strategic (DA:O like) angle included. You'll also have an origin but you won't play it probably because they want to invest more time into the open world part about the game.
Depends on what difficulty you are playing on! played on nightmare and everytime i tried to button mash!! i died all the time. You gotta pause and command everyone to (do what they gotta do) :) played DA:O a while i ago bec i got the inquisition hype. Normal difficulty and all i had to do was to walk and stand next to the enemy :( couldnt get through the first 5 hours without falling asleep. It comes down to how you wanna approach the game.

They already did the origins for the game now they are moving on. If they or anyone else kept going back to the origins in their games then the damn series will NEVER make any progress! A game can't have potential as you say it would if all it does is linger in the past. Just think of a person who stayed doing what they did 10 yrs ago because it brought them some success back then. Times change and if you ain't keeping up then you become stagnant the way Japan's game development has. You learn from the past, make use of what you have in the present and build upon it to set it up for a brighter future!
While I understand your point LunarChibi , I really don't think it makes sense. So what, Dragon Age INQUISITION will introduce a new mechanic where you can interrogate and torture enemies? It's not about lingering on the past, it's about keeping what is good. You evolve when you develop new aspects to your base. When you just trade one for another you simply change. But ofc they're bringing back at least the character customization, this critic was made taking note of how lackluster I thought that DA 2 was. After seing some new gameplays of DA:I, it's getting pretty good.
Man I remember watching this more than once being so hyped for Inquisition! With Dragon Age The Veilguard gameplay coming out this coming Tuesday(Saturday of June 8th 2024 of writing this) I can't wait to rewatch that 100 times as well!!😁
As much as I love Inquisition as it is, this version looks way better. I just hope that with the upcoming Mass Effect game, they can improve what they had begun to build with Inquisition and so forth.

This demo looks so much different than the actual game... i feel so betrayed... i saw a video where your party was in the western approach AT NIGHT, they show you this amazing video where the inquisitor runs through the desert with a dragon spitting fire at him... the demos, the trailers, all lies.. they took away so many awesome stuff.. i never thought i would get bored of playing it after the first playthrough me being a huge fan of the series.. i regret so much for buying the game right on the relasing date.. i spent a shitload of money, i'm from argentina and the game is in dollars so its like 5 times it's original price,,, well,, i've learned my lesson now... i liked the game, but it was so desapointing,,
Well its still great, I just finished my second playthrough on nightmare. I am at 270h playtime now. But youre right, they downgraded the graphics a bit and removed some awesome trailer scenes or quests like the one in this video. There are no red templars in Crestwood. But its still the best game ive played since Skyrim.
i completely agree with you. For the longest time I thought SOMETHING had changed, but I could not quite figure out what. Then I watched this demo again and I saw it. They changed so much. This demo almost seemed like a different game practically. I have no idea why they changed so many of the really cool things that they showed here. I also got bored with the game. I liked the game but it got EXTREMELY repetitive and the story was executed rather poorly if you ask me. It wasnt "bad" necessarily but it could have been sooo much better and the ending felt rushed and rather anticlimactic.
Adreamofshadow its always graphical downgrade if you play on console, and often they cut out content cause of the hardware limitations, the demos was always on a pc with a controller.
I'm a huge fan of both the Dragon Age and each game has its own strengths and weaknesses. All of the people that I have spoken to who hate on DA2 haven't even played an entire play-through and have the same two or three things that they bitch about. Like "they recycled the same environments over and over." or "you spend the whole game in Kirkwall" or "the combat was nothing but button-mashing." If you do not like it, change the auto-attack settings in the options menu, and DA:O recycled environments too, but people put it on a pedestal and fail to notice the many flaws of the game. And EA is just a company that produces games, it does not directly develop anymore. Quit reading and spouting memes and what other people say on the internet and form your own opinions people... Fuck. Also, the Witcher is amazing as well if you have the patience to learn the combat system. So quit bashing it everybody.
ok i have to ask, probably no one will awser but still i have to ask something that has been bothering me. The inquisitor´s voice in this gameplay, is it one of the voices we got in the final game or is it another voice actor here that later Bioware replaced?
I liked the combat in DA2, it was fast paced and kept you on your toes. Maybe it could stand a bit of refinement, a little less button mashing and a little more skill and fluidity perhaps, but I didn't hate it.
is this a console thing or what? After 4+ playthroughs of Da2 I havent mashed a single button. The combat was better and overall more challenging than in DA:O, but everything else was much worse (re-use of assets was laughable). if they can manage a mix of the best these 2 games had to offer, this has GOTY potential.
sgtStones da2 battles are like fast forward mode, too damn fast, strategy just pumping out attacks. not to mention was over used weak mobs that kept spawning repeatedly.
TheChrcol thats one thing I really disliked about the combat: there was no way to know when the fight would be over, because enemies could just spawn out of thin air.
Dragon Age relies more on tactical teambased combat where KOA Reckoning is arcade action-style gameplay. It might seem similair but there's a difference... I only hope this will be a lot better than DA 2, which was a HUGE letdown compared to Origins.
So it seems to me that people just think that open-world anything is basically a rip off of skyrim. I understand the compass thing but who gives a fuck? Its a nice and easy thing to follow, that's probably why its in the game.

Really nice, I am really impressed with the animations, how the character moves differently depending on terrain, slope and direction. Very realistic. Gameplay looks like a lot of fun, too. Hopefully they will deliver a good game this time, something closer to DA: Origins and less like DA2.

Yes it will be on the new consoles. Well I know for sure that there is a save editor beta out that the developers claim will let you modify your own save world state to even the tiniest details. I assume you save that to your origin account. Only a few people have gotten invites so far but they should start sending more out real soon if you signed up for it. Other talk I heard is that they're trying to find a way to transfer your old gen save through clouds or playstation plus. But they might still be working on that.

Why would they remove the sweet zoomed-in dialogue and instead give us the stupid spin-around and slightly zoomed-in camera?

So let me get this straight: Open world, clear black/white UI = Skyrim? You'd think that the only rpg the people who are saying this have played is skyrim.

And in the end, it was just button mashing until all enemies were dead, rinse and repeat. Also, that audience cheers at everything, even the fact you have to load each part of an area (like Orlais) from a map instead of travelling on foot and that it's always day time or night in each area.
Can someone explain what happened in between this demo and the actual game?

DA:O was one of the best RPGs I've ever played. Why turn it into a button mashing fest? It's like they didn't go deep enough with DA 2.
Also, why removing all the different origin storylines? Why not going back on what you screwed up at DA 2?
They are filling with shit a franchise with so much potential.
Who said it's a button mashing fest, they've clearly stated in one of their diaries that there will be 2 different kinds of playstyles, strategic (DA:O like) angle included.
You'll also have an origin but you won't play it probably because they want to invest more time into the open world part about the game.
Depends on what difficulty you are playing on! played on nightmare and everytime i tried to button mash!! i died all the time. You gotta pause and command everyone to (do what they gotta do) :) played DA:O a while i ago bec i got the inquisition hype. Normal difficulty and all i had to do was to walk and stand next to the enemy :( couldnt get through the first 5 hours without falling asleep.
It comes down to how you wanna approach the game.

Maybe because that game was called Dragon Age: ORIGINS and this one is Dragon Age: INQUISITION. They already did the origins for the game now they are moving on. If they or anyone else kept going back to the origins in their games then the damn series will NEVER make any progress! A game can't have potential as you say it would if all it does is linger in the past.
Just think of a person who stayed doing what they did 10 yrs ago because it brought them some success back then. Times change and if you ain't keeping up then you become stagnant the way Japan's game development has. You learn from the past, make use of what you have in the present and build upon it to set it up for a brighter future!
While I understand your point LunarChibi , I really don't think it makes sense. So what, Dragon Age INQUISITION will introduce a new mechanic where you can interrogate and torture enemies? It's not about lingering on the past, it's about keeping what is good. You evolve when you develop new aspects to your base. When you just trade one for another you simply change.
But ofc they're bringing back at least the character customization, this critic was made taking note of how lackluster I thought that DA 2 was. After seing some new gameplays of DA:I, it's getting pretty good.

Man I remember watching this more than once being so hyped for Inquisition! With Dragon Age The Veilguard gameplay coming out this coming Tuesday(Saturday of June 8th 2024 of writing this) I can't wait to rewatch that 100 times as well!!😁
As much as I love Inquisition as it is, this version looks way better. I just hope that with the upcoming Mass Effect game, they can improve what they had begun to build with Inquisition and so forth.

what do you expect them to do, spoil the story? besides, gameplay is just as important. if a game has me fighting 90% of the time, the combat should better be fun.

I want to see an rpg for what it is. A story, not some shitty hack n slash. If I wanted that I'd just play castle crashers.

personally, i was more than happy with the story in dragon age 1 and 2, so i'm not worried about that at all.

This demo looks so much different than the actual game... i feel so betrayed... i saw a video where your party was in the western approach AT NIGHT, they show you this amazing video where the inquisitor runs through the desert with a dragon spitting fire at him... the demos, the trailers, all lies.. they took away so many awesome stuff.. i never thought i would get bored of playing it after the first playthrough me being a huge fan of the series.. i regret so much for buying the game right on the relasing date.. i spent a shitload of money, i'm from argentina and the game is in dollars so its like 5 times it's original price,,, well,, i've learned my lesson now... i liked the game, but it was so desapointing,,

Well its still great, I just finished my second playthrough on nightmare. I am at 270h playtime now. But youre right, they downgraded the graphics a bit and removed some awesome trailer scenes or quests like the one in this video. There are no red templars in Crestwood. But its still the best game ive played since Skyrim.
i completely agree with you. For the longest time I thought SOMETHING had changed, but I could not quite figure out what. Then I watched this demo again and I saw it. They changed so much. This demo almost seemed like a different game practically. I have no idea why they changed so many of the really cool things that they showed here. I also got bored with the game. I liked the game but it got EXTREMELY repetitive and the story was executed rather poorly if you ask me. It wasnt "bad" necessarily but it could have been sooo much better and the ending felt rushed and rather anticlimactic.
Playing it on playstation 3 is more regrettable. -_-
Adreamofshadow its always graphical downgrade if you play on console, and often they cut out content cause of the hardware limitations, the demos was always on a pc with a controller.

I'm a huge fan of both the Dragon Age and each game has its own strengths and weaknesses. All of the people that I have spoken to who hate on DA2 haven't even played an entire play-through and have the same two or three things that they bitch about. Like "they recycled the same environments over and over." or "you spend the whole game in Kirkwall" or "the combat was nothing but button-mashing." If you do not like it, change the auto-attack settings in the options menu, and DA:O recycled environments too, but people put it on a pedestal and fail to notice the many flaws of the game. And EA is just a company that produces games, it does not directly develop anymore. Quit reading and spouting memes and what other people say on the internet and form your own opinions people... Fuck. Also, the Witcher is amazing as well if you have the patience to learn the combat system. So quit bashing it everybody.

ok i have to ask, probably no one will awser but still i have to ask something that has been bothering me. The inquisitor´s voice in this gameplay, is it one of the voices we got in the final game or is it another voice actor here that later Bioware replaced?
Was the first part even in the finished game? Maybe I missed it, but I don't recall Crestwood being attacked by Red Templars...
I liked the combat in DA2, it was fast paced and kept you on your toes. Maybe it could stand a bit of refinement, a little less button mashing and a little more skill and fluidity perhaps, but I didn't hate it.
is this a console thing or what? After 4+ playthroughs of Da2 I havent mashed a single button. The combat was better and overall more challenging than in DA:O, but everything else was much worse (re-use of assets was laughable). if they can manage a mix of the best these 2 games had to offer, this has GOTY potential.
It is a bit of a console thing, its far from the worst culprit of button-mashing, don't get me wrong.
sgtStones da2 battles are like fast forward mode, too damn fast, strategy just pumping out attacks. not to mention was over used weak mobs that kept spawning repeatedly.

Dragon Age relies more on tactical teambased combat where KOA Reckoning is arcade action-style gameplay. It might seem similair but there's a difference... I only hope this will be a lot better than DA 2, which was a HUGE letdown compared to Origins.

I dont get it, it is cool that you can change your compaion armor but what about there wepeons like Varric`s crossbow he would never give up on using Bianca but i am not sure because i couldent hear that much of the video so i might missing something but if i am can anybody tell what it is plz :)
Really nice, I am really impressed with the animations, how the character moves differently depending on terrain, slope and direction. Very realistic. Gameplay looks like a lot of fun, too. Hopefully they will deliver a good game this time, something closer to DA: Origins and less like DA2.

The game is still fucking amazing reguardless of the shit they took out. They had their reasons (i hope). It was pre alpha after all. But for me the game is still kick ass in every way

Yes it will be on the new consoles. Well I know for sure that there is a save editor beta out that the developers claim will let you modify your own save world state to even the tiniest details. I assume you save that to your origin account. Only a few people have gotten invites so far but they should start sending more out real soon if you signed up for it. Other talk I heard is that they're trying to find a way to transfer your old gen save through clouds or playstation plus. But they might still be working on that.
