      I love both bands. Everyone knows by now that the Stones have always been more of a straight ahead rock n roll band with blues roots. The Beatles were more of a pop group with some roots in rockabilly. The Beatles creativity was off the charts and I think that makes them the better band. We could go on and on, back and forth comparing the two and neither of us would be wrong. Two different types, both the best of the best

      It's not so much about how complicated the riffs are, it's more about how catchy they are. And as another commenter said, and I'll second, it's very much about the fact that these artists came up with the riffs and orchestrated/arranged the songs /first/.

    • @KenTeel
      @KenTeel Před rokem +3

      No, Keith's riffs are not complicated. They are chord based, and frequently use hammer ons to make things like a suspended chords. They are not complex, They are simple. That is their appeal. By the way I am a guitarist (jazz.)

    • @KenTeel
      @KenTeel Před rokem

      Really? Day Tripper, Tax Man, etc. I will say that the Stones have to rely on rhythm riffs because the melodic content of their songs is minimal (compare Penny Lane, Michelle, or Yesterday to any Stones song. The Beatles were far superior melodically. And, that is directly related to Jim McCartney, Paul's father. Jim had his own horn band and gigged around Liverpool. He exposed Paul to a variety of musical styles, and that planted a seed in Paul's brain, that showed up in his writing. Paul's richness in style and melody, was the Beatles powerful element. None of the Stones had parents that played music in bands, and therefore were more limited in their exposure to music, as children. Paul's superior intellect, combined with an exposure to 20's, 30's, and 40's music, through his dad, set Paul up to be the powerhouse element in the Beatles. The Stones had no such thing. Mick's father was a fitness instructor. Keith's father was a blue collar worker. Neither played in bands, or encouraged musical development in a way that Jim did with Paul. Paul's skill and diverstity affected John Lennon. Lennon only had exposure, from a parent, to music through his mother playing some banjo. So, John was limited in his scope. Paul helped expand that in John. So, the Stones, in no way, shape or form had the richness of melodic content that The Beatles music had. They really, as Paul has said were kind of a roots based band, with blues primarily, and some country, as foundations. They were much more basic than The Beatles, musically. )

      @@KenTeel your analysis is correct, but I stil l consider Stones's riffs catchier.

    • @KenTeel
      @KenTeel Před rokem

      @@fernandes5986 The Stone riffs were chord based, moreso than the Beatles riffs. So, if you like rhymic "motiffs" (kind of like what funk music does with chord rhythms) then you'd like the Stones chord riffs better than The Beatles single note riffs (or their more melodic based arpeggios, etc.)

And they spit out great riffs today!

Mas considerando só os riffs dos anos 60 das duas bandas, os Beatles geralmente ficava na frente justamente por ter 3 guitarristas (sim, 3). Mas ambas as bandas são excelentes, cada uma no seu estilo.

    Hilarious! Well done. The Keith tuning in time with Paul’s slide bass lines!! Such a brilliant concept. It’s probably been written about but I’d love to know the dynamic between those 2 guitar players. Like in the 60’s, 70’s, 89’s, etc. I’m sure their paths crossed or they shared a stage, collaborated, etc. but the behind the scenes stuff would be epic! Did they get along? Jam together? Talk shop? Etc. like Keith asking “how’d George get that sound on....?” Or how’d he do that Nowhere Man thingy at the end of the solo? Clever bloke!” Or George asking Keith about the “funny chords he plays” only to realize Keith was using an open tuning. Loving the sound, George is not willing to completely relearn his instrument fingerings. So George grabs this capo thing and writes Here Comes The Sun and is like “how’dyou like those fingerings mate?”
    And to the 18 or so blokes who disliked this: it’s satire! It’s NOT supposed to be a “best of the 2 riffs! Or look how well I can play these 2 bands’ riffs!” Is it?
    If you don’t like it I’ll suggest a third option, an “alternate fingerin’ “
