      thanks, hope it helped. This sink can be tricky but in the end it's a great project...especially for tiny bathrooms, which can be a pain

    The hardeset part about the whole installation, is the shroud removal and installation, but your video skips ahead to it already installed. Either you had a problem getting it installed, or for some reason, didnt want to show how you did it, but would be nice to see the complete installation, rather than skip ahead and it is already on the wall. How do you loosen the sink enough, to mount the shroud ?

    Great job on the video. Hipster style construction is so so cool. The plumber was a cool dude and the main guy was perfect! I like that it was not exactly 24 inch water supply at 5 6 inch and not 3, and not 21 tailpipe, and still worked perfect. The tile is so nice.

    you didn't show the hardest part how did you attach the pedestal and tighten the 2 nuts with all the plumbing and P trap in place, plus how do you clean the p trap out on this type of pedestal

    The bottom part of the sink (pedestal part) is that designed just to hide the pipes or is it integral to the structure

    Thanks for another excellent how-to. Did you tighten the pedestal bolts after the sink basin is installed? Looked to me like there's not way even to put the nuts on, much less tighten them.

    • @HomeRepairTutor
      @HomeRepairTutor  Před 7 lety +1

      +Ted Weddell combination wrench, we had to loosen the sink then tighten the pedestal nuts.

    • @tedspens
      @tedspens Před 7 lety +1

      Then how did you tighten the slip nut for the drain? Sorry to be so argumentative here but I'm trying to make sense of this. Moving the sink far enough to get a wrench in there would require disconnecting the drain, or at least loosening it quite a bit. I'm thinking maybe where it meets the p-trap, must have some sort of self sealing connection. I'd hate to come back to fix a leaky drain on this sort of setup. :)

    Small hole at the bottom of pedestal and water runs out when I run the taps

    did you place the studs there on purpose for the sink? seems like really odd stud placement and unlikely for a remodel. What do you do if the sink mounting holes do not align with studs? thanks.

    • @HomeRepairTutor
      @HomeRepairTutor  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes, if I remember correctly we added wood blocking in the wall. If studs don’t align with sink holes you can attach 2x10 blocking in the wall using 3” deck screws. That way there will be solid blocking in the wall for the sink

  • @fd3871
    @fd3871 Před 5 lety

    hahah what was that manufacturer thinking by putting that 3rd hole right where the drain line is... I mean, pipes typically follow gravity down. I have yet to see a drain line coming from above ;)

  • @kendall3006
    @kendall3006 Před 7 lety +1

    The proper tool to install the mounting bolts is called a hanger bolt driver.
    It is a drill accessory that you thread the machine thread end into and then you can drive the lag end into the structure.

    • @HomeRepairTutor
      @HomeRepairTutor  Před 7 lety

      +kendall3006 thanks for the tip, how much does that cost? And can you get it at a hardware store?

    • @kendall3006
      @kendall3006 Před 7 lety

      They are about $10 each. They are sized to the machine thread.
      I have not seen them in home centers but they are available at a well stocked hardware store and supply houses. Easy to come by online.

    • @michaelneale1726
      @michaelneale1726 Před 7 lety +2

      Thanks for the excellent video. You can also use two nuts that come with the kit to install the mounting bolts by locking them together and then driving with a regular wrench spanner etc.

    • @hankreszka9319
      @hankreszka9319 Před 5 lety +2

      @@HomeRepairTutor Don't need a tool. Just double up a pair of nuts and make them tight against each other with a pair of wrenches. Then use wrench or socket on outer nut to drive the whole thing in. Unloosen nuts, tada...

      Superb video! This is introduced straightforwardly into a vanity, with a self rimming configuration to fit flush to the best surface of the vanity. The edges are wide or flared characterizing the edges and somewhat raised over the counter surface. The lifted edge helps control spills and secure the counter's edge treatment. (goo.gl/KG8RAV)

    I would prefer 35-36" for a sink height, but the Americans with Disabilities Act specifies that the lip of a sink be no higher than 34" so if you are looking to sell your home you should probably not go higher than this.
