- Come on a spooky journey with us around the country to explore the ghostly tails of Charles Dickens, Theatre Royal Bath, Harvington Hall, Long Compton Witches, and more in this 60 minute Liam Dale special.
Despite being produced around 20 years ago, the ghost stories, hauntings, and witch folklore featured in this documentary are still just as fascinating today.

Very old cemeteries at night in the quiet moonlight of a summer night, are so very eerie. The lives of those who now lie there long gone, the events they witnessed long forgotten, conversations and laughter long past, and what is there now? In the present?
WE are in the ‘present’.
It’s all the same. Nothing ever really changes. Our laughter and conversations will die with us. We will all one day be one of those forgotten souls laid to rest alongside those we knew in life. Those we spoke to. They are us. We are them. The only thing that differs between us and them is time.
So when we gaze upon the gravestones of a spooky churchyard, in the moonlight, we see ourselves lying there forever. And we don’t like it at all. For we all know instinctively what awaits us. The long sleep.
Live your life and be as happy as you can be! Time is short and passes faster and faster the older you get.
Leave your life happy everyday ,cause life is short ,damn that hit me ,hear i am kind of lost mad 46 years old thinking if i could go back in time not made those bad decisions

One story from The Garrick's Head is pretty modern. A middle-aged man came to the bar and ordered a half. He drank it quickly - then disappeared in front of the barman/woman. Whatever happened to the drink, it was not found on the floor. And a lady in 1960s clothes haunts Popjoy's Restaurant next door (17:43), as well as the more historical figure of Julianna Popjoy. (The restaurant may have changed its name in recent years.) I'm pretty sure I "smelled" the Grey Lady's ghost around 1993. I was alone on the very top floor of the theatre, and suddenly caught a strong aroma of perfume, said to accompany her appearances.
Ghosts aren't real.

The best detail of the hides at Harvington Hall! I also enjoyed the segment on Long Compton, just down the road from me. I think these old villages have not changed so much from thier gossiping superstitious past. I used to live in Salford Village, just over the fields from Long Compton and also Rollright Stones, and very recently found out that they burned 2 poor ladies as witches there, in times past. As I was driving home one night about ten years ago, past the Rollright Stones, 'something' got into my car with me, and stayed while I went past the Kings Stone, and then the circle. I was terrified. It left my car just past the Stones, as quickly as it got into my car on near the Kings Stone. Another interesting thing is that about 15 years ago, the skeleton of a high status wise woman, from centuries past, was found just below the surface of ground by someone with a metal detector. Just google 'Rollright Stones woman's skeleton found' and you can read the details. She had items buried with her that signified her status.
Witching hour can start anytime darkness strikes every lost soul has a different time. I get awoken 3 am or 4 am every night since I've been in my house past 14 years it's haunted. Unluckiest time of my life, grave yard funnilly enough I feel safe and at peace always

When ran for their lives they left a record's of the remedy so later that the medical professionals can claim victory over their theft of property and deemed it okay for men to be in control. I heard after awhile that the witch hunters were said to be that themselves as one, and then the suspicion fell upon them and they tried to stop the rumors it's strange the same thing that started it wind up their own victim of their own fate, so I've heard. I also heard is that two infamous witch hunters had a lot going for them until people came to their senses and refused them and rumors about them saying they were a couple.
I wake up from 3 am to 4 am every single night. I haven’t had good sleep since I’ve lived elsewhere. I also literally live across the street from a cemetery.

*wytch elm. It's an older version on the word but oddly was what was graffitied originally and the spelling of the name of the type of tree.
Quite bizarre the executions were recorded in art but important th awful truths be known..so many church records were destroyed.💔🙏🏻
I enjoyed it but can I suggest it be renamed the great English channel as no mention of Scotland and it's huge number of witches and ghosts was metioned. What about Mother Shipton, North Berwick Law, The grassmarket in Edinburgh as well as Greyfriars graveyard to name a very few.
I have many videos of graveyards at night with voices of restless people who once walked this planet in living form.

Great visuals and sourced material. I think it would be just as believable without the narrator adopting an ominous way of speaking. Although, I admit spooky voices work great with kids.

Put me off too. Especially when there was nothing to 'scream about' As in the case of Harvington, which is not Officially haunted. It is owned by the Catholic Church, who take a dim view of ghost hunters embellishing tales. Despite all the preparations, there is No Evidence that it was ever searched, or the hides were used in fear. Most visitors don't find it 'foreboding' either, in fact it is seen as a place of pilgrimage by many of the Catholic persuasion.
When he started talking about Wych elms,I was half expecting to get 'Bella' but strictly speaking she isn't a ghost. Although some considered her fate to be the work of a Satanic Cult. All just a few miles from Harvington. While dealing with Catholic secret .he missed 'Gideon Grove' too, an innocent victim of the Gunpowder plotters last stand at Holbeache house, again just up the road from Harvington. the fact that no one has ever been able to prove Gideon even existed is neither here nor there! Why let a simple fact like that get in the way of a good ghost story! No screams or embellishments required.

Apparently the people who tell these stories do not understand the Christian faith. When a devote believer is martyred for the faith, he or she goes IMMEDIATELY into the presence of Jesus to receive his or her reward. They do not 'hang about' as ghosts!
