    A lot of guys are leaving the diesel and going back to gas. The cost of repairs and maintenance on a diesel lift pump injection pump. DEF always problems with the DEF system be very, very leery about getting a diesel. And a lot of parts are back ordered for diesel. Just a word of warning from my experience.

    Really enjoying the 6.7 in my f600. I have longer grades and a longer trip to the dump where I'm at in Southern California. Downfall, diesel is around 6.29. Gas is about a buck cheaper

  • @steveh7108
    @steveh7108 Před 11 měsíci +1

    The problem with the diesel nowadays is not necessarily the DEF fuel it's all the downtime because the system constantly breaks down. And you can't manually regen when you want to.

  • @hhprogressiveconstruction1140

    Definitely gas is a maintenance saver now with Def issues , fuel costs , upfront more cost to purchase initially .

  • @nickp.4995
    @nickp.4995 Před 2 měsíci

    The standard fuel tank should be a rear tank, midship fuel tanks are an option and generally have a smaller capacity.
    When we build these, we use a different style of lights, plate holder and bumper for Class 5 chassis. Looks like the dealer here just reused the OEM lights.
    If you want a cleaner look, I'd probably look at putting a small cross box behind the cab to store the shovel, broom, wood, etc.
    The biggest issue with jumping from a Class 5 truck to something larger tends to be the transmission. You can move up to an SL240 or something, on a 33,000GVW but you'll need to upgrade to an Allison 3XXX series transmission, the 2XXX won't let you have hydraulic power when you are creeping or moving slowly. It is a pretty costly upgrade to get a little more power.

    Thanks for the review. I am in the 2nd year and running an older F-550 and F-650 I love the maneuverability of the 550 but the 650 has a CAT and an Allison and if seems like it is a much more durable / commercial truck. I am looking to upgrade to a F-600 26,000 gvwr diesel in the next year or two. I agree on your 4x4 being a requirement

    Yeah I almost got an F-600 hooklift but went with the Chevy 5500 medium duty truck and I love it; considering I’m a Ford guy! I do like the 11 mpg but I hate I got the 2 wheel drive. When you said you don’t have a lot of equipment I’ve always wonder how you’ve been so successful only running 15yd containers. Do you believe you’d be able to grow into a multiple truck setup in your market? Nonetheless keep going brother and let me know when I can get on a episode of trash talk! #MBRTRASH

  • @danahasson2892
    @danahasson2892 Před rokem +2

    To be honest with you with the added price of the diesel engine and the cost of diesel fuel where I'm at being higher and the way that California is on the diesel mission laws I've been moving my fleet more towards gasoline trucks. I do have to agree with that the power of the diesel engines is a lot better but I don't know if it's really worth the extra $10000 For the engine and dealing with all California laws on the diesel trucks now.
