Congrats on the house purchase man! Funny thing though is I never noticed the excessive ratting until you pointed it out, I was wondering what are you planning to use to fix it? I was thinking the best way to fix the rattling would be to install weather stripping and putting it along the places that cover touches another surface, it may even give you better wet weather protection too.
