It's like someone was trying to make the most annoying boat motor possible. Imagine trying to fish early one morning and hearing that thing drive by you.
Drive by and drive by and drive by. You can drift faster than that thing.
Hahahhaha oh man I'd b rotted and laughing at the same time
They succeeded.
who cares, barges in the harbor are louder than that.
HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT OF PUTTING YOUR LITTLE MOTER ON A SMALLER JOHN BOAT ? MABY a 10 footer . ( just saying)
When you order an airboat from wish
lol
Petition to make him paint his John boat
Fianaly
Signed
Done
Petition to get him to stop making videos
Signed....from New Zealand lol
Usually don't binge watch other youtubers but over the past month I have watched almost all of your videos. Glad to see a new one today! Love the work you do. Keep it up!
by the way.. those were used by fire departments to blow into the front of a house on fire after some windows are broken in the sides or back of the house.. it blows the smoke, heat and flames away from the front entrance so the firemen can make access and search much faster.. in multi story buildings they set up vent vans blowing into the first floor stairwells to give positive pressure to the stairwells so any doors above them has air moving out of the stair well ... allowing the fire fighters to go up the stairs without needing to use their air packs.. single blade versions are still available from some companies.. multi blade versions are the norm now.. and there are some creative almost jet engine turbine fan blade type versions that direct air flow out of a ring of slots.. so they get a much higher velocity.. if you set up the exhaust with a long exhaust flex tube.. those come in so handy on super hot days just keeping the air flowing where your working.. think of sanding a hull... no breeze.. start the gas powered fan.. have a nice breeze blowing.. keeping you cooler and blowing the dust away. the air movement can also be used to blow skeeters away from your work area..
I had to make sure you weren't lying or mistaken. It seems dumb to funnel more oxygen onto the fire. But after some research it looks like this method (PPV) is used to get to the main source of the fire to neutralize. Done wrong and it would do what I was assuming and just make the fire worse.
needs a bigger prop(or more pitch), motor revs way to high which means theres alot of power not being used
Pitch doesn't make you go faster, horsepower does. The engine is not over reving so its not under pitched.
@@integr8er66 pitch will certainly make it go faster I just like on a boat prop I gained nine miles an hour from changing the pitch on my prop
@@danielmcbride4828 then your boat engine was seriously over reving with the first prop. A boat will go its fastest when it runs wide open throttle at the peak of its horsepower curve, if it is running at that point and you add pitch it will fall below that point and go slower, not to mention damage the engine.
@@integr8er66 I'm not sure if the guy added pitch to my boat prop or took pitch away I don't know I know he changed it
@@integr8er66 oh yeah and I change from an aluminum prop to a stainless prop
I think your gonna need a BIGGER FAN!
😆
G James or a smaller boat!
Fireship1 A larger fan and possibly lower it on the transom, so when it is spinning it can push against the water. I don’t know if it will work better or not; but it’s worth a try!
@@RichardAmmo1 lol good 1
Or a smaller boat
brilliant bit of shallow water kit, now try one with a 10hp two stroke and a four blade carbon fan, if you want a faster one that is,
This would be the right engine for the wheel barrow!
I’d bet someone who has an antique boat motor collection would love to add that to their collection. It looks super rare.
So basically it’s a lawn mower engine with a fan attached.
I think that's the original blade.
Wow how smart you are ! I sure hope you didn't waste money on college
And a bludgeon for the air paddle. Bet that prop is eighty percent inefficiant. And too small for six hp.
Lawnmowers have vertical shafts
Did that thing really just start right up??? I’ll be dipped. My freakin 5 year old lawn mower doesn’t fire at all if it’s been sitting for a month!
What a fun little thing!
A fart could push the boat faster.
Your videos are just super entertaining. I could watch you fix boats for all day long. Keep up the great work!
Man. You are an inspiration. I'm 42 years old. Been messing with small OBs since I was 5. You give me inspiration like crazy. Good job
Nice one! Have a similar setup but a larger 30hp two-stroke with pushes me on water and ice winter-time far north of where you are.
That motor is actually moving the boat perfectly. We use that setup on a stand on the bow for our flounder giging boats
Love how all his boats he fixes up but then the ole jon boat is just chilling like gimme a fresh paint 🤣🤣
You can flip the head on the trolling motor with one screw to turn it from a transom mount to a bow mount
too lazy lol
ThatBoatGuy noo, please try it out! that would be so freaking fun to see..
Karsten Hoekstra Really? A screwdriver and 45 seconds. It would be the shortest and most boring video he has ever made.
@@adamr9215 have you ever seen a video from him that was boring? I certainly not
Karsten Hoekstra True, but that is because he hasn’t made a video about flipping the head on the trolling motor.
That's one loud push mower motor if I ever heard one. It could double as a garage fan on real hot days, maybe it's preferred use?
This thing reminds me of my first outboard, more noise than power! Still a sweet buy though!
That motor sound and speed made me think of some grandmother driving their car at full rpms with clutch half down lol..
How about adding a shroud? It loses a lot of thrust in it's wash.
Fuel line is supposed to run through the block on these engines
Not everything you drag home is a winner lol. Funny stuff.
I’d say she needs a little bit more pitch.
Pitch doesn't make you go faster, horsepower does. The engine is not over reving so its not under pitched.
integr8er66 On our lobster boats if you change pitch it makes a difference in speed.
yes.. perhaps.. we would need to know the HP curve of that engine (in relation to rpm) once armed with that data, he would need to find a pitch to keep him in the optimal power rpm.
johnnyf99 Music she needs more pitch man. You can hear the thing crying
That motor is not ment to be the main motor on a boat. That is a flounder or gigging motor. Made to raise main motor and slow go throw extream shallow water at night to gig flounder under lights.
nice vid man really enjoy them!
That got me to thinking.....
With a centrifugal clutch, and a bigger prop.... I think that could actually make a neat little "blow boat"
But then, a bigger engine, bigger prop, cage, and steering rutters......
Oooooooo..... the ideas are flowing for my John boat out back!
Put that motor on a FLAT BACK CANOE!!! thT we be a cool video bro!
Good stuff and fun to watch. Thanks!
I almost bought that! Coolest thing for sale on marketplace I’ve seen in a while. You’d get more speed with a smaller Jon boat and could probably look into a better prop for it. Something lighter, better pitch, maybe even a three blade. Might not even be one available but there’s more potential in this I think
Hey, boast guy! Take a close look at
that prop! Take that thing off, and flip it over. It's on backwards, and the trailing edge is cutting the air first. Try it again, it should increase thrust by 300%. Let us see it again!
It’s for use in the costal backwaters, gigging flounder and sheepshead, you can slowly work the shoreline and stop just by sticking a gig pole in water long enough to stick a flatty
This engine is hilarious.
Loud, slow and just a bad idea in general.
I want one!!!
That’s cool. I could use that for my kayak. Thanks for the video and God bless you.
Bow fishers use these on the Mississippi river for nighttime use.Fan pusher allows you to navigate slow through weeds and such.Does not spook fish.Worth about 800 bucks or so to the right person. But not strong enough to move a boat on snow/ice.
Cool pick-up for the weeds and the lilies. Just like with a boat prop, the condition of the prop will make a difference ... Airfoil instead of hydrofoil, but all the principals apply. Clean leading edges, smooth blade surfaces, crisp break-away on the trailing edge, etc. I'll bet that some reconditioning at an aero-prop shop would help ... If you'all have one arojnd teh area, maybe they could give you some pointers so you could do it yourself :)
all I can say is glad that's your $100 bucks. LOL
Look at giant scale model airplane propellers, they'd probably work much better.
I'd spin it around get some cool breeze. Make great yard fan too.
Seams like something colinfurz would make for his living room lol
Well ..... That prop ain't gettin' tangled in weeds . The worlds loudest weedless trolling motor has been found my king . BLG takes the knee .
That setup would get a lot of "bless your hearts" here in Tennessee
Question I just submerged my motor early last month! I’m wondering if it’s salvageable. After Goethe motor out of the water I rinsed it and tried starting it which it did turnover but I seal at the top slipped out and dumped oil all over my driveway. And I haven’t touch it since any thing would be helpful. (I’m no mechanic either) thanks in advance. And I love watching you bring these old motors to life!!
I'd look for a diff prop. I wouldnt give up on it. Then you could a better/quieter exhaust. I grew up in airboats... nothing cooler
Yes. Change the pitch and put side skirts on and she will move. Throw a industrial exhaust fan on as well.
Do another vid with different props with more blades and different prop angles. That motor looks like its heavy duty for a better prop.
You got yourself an awesome fan for the workshop! 😁😂. Try it on a square stern canoe.
Man!! I remember in my younger days my family would go to Florida to visit family and we would come back with a lot of cool kick ass shit! This is cool!!
Saw that on market place looked like something i would build good job man keep it up
one more thing.. and its probably sold and long gone.. when you hear the squeaks while retracting the pull start rope.. need to take off the blower housing and add a few drops of 20W or something thin like that.. 10W30 will do.. to the end of the square drive one way clutch shank.. you will see a small hole there. inside that hole is a felt washer. that lubes the extended end of the crankshaft that spins inside the square drive starter pull shank.. when it gets totally dry it squeals and will actually eject the rope from the pull starter. its about 5 minutes and 3 bolts to do this..
portable gas powered fan when working on a boat keep you cooler
It was groovy seeing you try it out on your boat, not that it was terribly good & I doubt they used much lighter boats in that motor's day. It jut has me thinking that maybe guys did something else or ran it on a different style boat to make it worthwhile running such a motor. It's very cool in any case & I at least think you might have a bit if a treasure on your hands & should restore the motor...just what I would do...but it thanks for sharing it with us, a great video!
we really wanna know about all the 1st gen dodges in the driveway recently
I might make a video on them. First gen 12v
@@ThatBoatGuy you should
Had a guy a few years back with one of these on a jon boat out every weekend.. outboard type just like this but with a slightly larger fan. That one would get him up on a plane, so I imagine it had a bit larger motor as well. like a poor mans airboat.
Way bigger motor and way larger/more aggressive prop
That thing has a better chance of pushing a fart out of the room than it does a boat😂
What do you use when you cleaned the outside of the engine. The paintbrush and what product ?
The fish will definitely be hearing you come in in that
Do a restoration on the jon boat l
maybe jet boat conversion
THIS GUYS CONTENT IS RELENTLESS! I LOVE IT!
I love your boat videos, please make more!!!!
If your ac ever goes out at the house! Then you’ve got a solution :)
Jerry Michelek uses something similar for a range fan while shooting, pretty cool!
...BoatGuy.....very entertaining...thanks for posting........looks to me like that gas tank is blocking a lot of the input air to the prop...I would make a bracket and place it in front of the motor....
and, like others have said, maybe a streamlined carbon fiber prop with more pitch... :)
Hey on your trolling motor you can turn the shaft around by taking off the cover on the top and undo a bolt or on the outside on the shaft you can take out a screw and twist it around.
What a great find! Sure, it is underpowered, loud and cumbersome but the theory is sound. Thank you for this one.
Nice conversation piece !
That setup is for floundering at night, I have one on my boat and it works great!
Been watching him for a while he dose good work wish I could find and afford a boat like he dose
Haha love it bro! You should put that thing on your wheel barrel
This would be super cool on a kayak or canoe!!
If that fan blade was a little smaller and it was under the motor and under the water connected by a shaft and some kind of "under"-unit housing and a gear box that thing would probably work pretty good!
HHHEEEYYYY!!! How’s your hearing. Rig a sail up and face that thing forward. Awesome 😎 video
It's like watching paint dry! Yes, use the fan to accelerate drying paint... 😁
Needs a much larger diameter blade...probably a little higher pitch as well. Motor seemed to have no trouble spinning that one, so it could probably handle a bigger prop
yes - air against air will push your boat, but not as efficiently as water against water propulsion ( see " density " ) for the exact same way and reason that cars are more fuel efficient than boats. medium density.
double the size of the prop could help
you blew away the hurricane with that thing lol
Great Video! Quick question, how do you know when you are buying an engine “that last ran 1 year ago” that you can get it to run again. Specifically for outboards, what can you check to see if the engine has the potential of running?
Turns over and compression. Spark and fuel are easy fixes. Compression is not. Seized isn't necessarily a deal breaker either.
Wow powerful look at how much it blows the tree branches around when he has it running on the stand!!!!
A lot of bowfishing boats have a fan like this sitting above their outboards to push them through shallow water/grass flats where trolling motors and outboards get hung up.
Dude, buy another walk around and redo it. Loved those!!!!
That prop looks like it’s a chopped down propeller with basically no twist. Not much more than a couple of clubs beating the air.
Put on a prop with some “bite” and it would likely get you moving well.
The neighbors are pissed you went and blew all the mosquitos into their yard ! What's next weed wacker long shaft mud slinger motor ? 🤔👍🏼.
After watching his videos, I really think he got real understanding neighbors. Here in NYC, even if I run my car engine a few minutes, I get complaints.... This man runs loud outboard motors all day, no issue at all.
That is the craziest pedestal fan I've every seen
I think it will.. the blades are heavy so once they get rolling it should help the engine..
I've never seen such a thing... crazy.
Hope the next vid is a boat resto. I keep rewatching the old ones.
I recommend sticking with the electric trolling motor vice the fan...
I’ve got one exactally like it in my shop, just a little bigger
How awesome is that?
A boat motor that can mow your lawn!
(& as a bonus it looks SUPER DANGEROUS too)
Now lets see some real fun.
Put on your roller skates & strap that thing to your back!
...or at least put it on a tiny little teensy weensy dinghy or surfboard or something?
C`mon, risk your life to entertain me!
(LOL, sorry, sometimes I just can`t help myself. I hope you find my comments amusing)
I really do enjoy your vids. You do good work.
Coolest boat engine I've ever seen
Maybe put the prop in the water...LOL Joking...cool project!
looks like the same principal as a Dragonfly Airdrive Outboard. Yes it was a real thing
*YUP That's CRAZY!!!*
I don't think i would trust that very much LOL!
He finally used his trolling motor lol
Bigger prop maybe??? IDK man depends on if you really wanna put any $ in it or if it was something to just tinker with... Thanks for sharing!
That is badass! Pure Americana🇺🇸.....👍
