How to improve your CRKT tomahawks?

I've had this CRKT tomahawk style axe for a while and I feel like I needed to fix some things that I did not care for. Strip the nasty varnish from the handle and put a better edge on it. This will improve the looks and make a more usable tool.

Not clear on the “improvement” made by blackening the handle, particularly up by the head?🤔

I removed the varnish and put boiled linseed oil on it. Burning the handle is mostly just cosmetic for me.

Off subject . But wld u know how knife makers get tht last and final shine with tht deep and mirrored look ?
