- In a massive blow to the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), another top commander was killed in fight against the Hamas. IDF announces the death of Maj. Gal Shabbat, who was injured during fighting in northern Gaza Strip on May 15. Maj. Gal Shabbat was a company commander in the Paratroopers Brigade’s 202nd Battalion. With this, the total number of IDF troops killed in ground offensive against Hamas increased to 283.
