My first ever Nascar race was Michigan, saw Larson get his first win. Jr aint kidding when he says theyre flying, while the cup cars were qualifying they were doing like 210ish on the straights. It was amazing to see. Watching a race on tv is NOTHING like seeing it in person. If anyone who reads this comment has never been to one. You have to in your lifetime. The feeling of cars going that fast is unlike anything else, the only thing that is more intense would be Top Fuel dragsters or funny cars.

I love the passion of all you guys. What I like about this show compared to other sports shows is that there's not a negative vibe. Like... plenty of shows have a structure that requires people to be on two different sides of things. Sometimes there are some natural disagreements but everyone is just discussing. Nobody jumps down each other's throats about being wrong. For the most part, everyone wants to give it a shot at looking at it from both sides, which makes it so enjoyable to listen to week in and week out

I wish we could back to old school racing which is what built Nascar. Searching for when and where to watch the race has lead to my wife and I to stop going to actual races. @philsonnenberg6092 Před 22 dny +12

Car never made it backward. Watch the replay very slow. The car does a "hitch" when the one flap opens. Exposing the entire right side with only one flap open. Then the 20+mph wind down the back stretch packed under the car and it was all over from there.

I dunno if relative humidity plays a role in the susceptibility to catch air, but I wouldn't be surprised. i's a problem in all forms of racing at a certain high speed, or certain circumstances.
The roof flaps are designed so simply hope to slow the cars by a few extra miles per hour to get below that threshold.

They know its the flat bottom they can't say it. Just like the rigid back end, which ended Kurt's career, they kept running it until something could be done. All the engineers in the sport know this car was poorly designed. Heck I can see it, you know they can.

NASCAR is a dangerous sport, much more with this car than it has been in a long time. I don't want anyone to get hurt racing but if all the drivers can drive the same speed there will never be superstars like senior or gordon. Risk equals reward. The drivers now grew up seeing massive wrecks with drivers walking away. Let the teams run fast cars, good drivers will push out the unsafe drivers, fans and sponsors will be excited again.

The new car has moved the focus of the downforce to under the car rather than the top. Is it possible that the roof flaps are causing more problems than helping in certain angles? The speed is not an issue, especially since the cars are slower than previous generation.. flat floor, diffuser, different side/quarter panels… also check out the shape of the floor around the exhaust, looks like it may create lift at that angle.

As a meteorologist, the start time debate is frustrating because storms fire in the peak heating of the day around 2-3pm then last until as late as 8pm. With earlier start times, at least half the race could get in before the storms fire and then you could at least get most of the race in before it rains out later. The TV partners lose when the rain postpones events anyways with smaller audiences. This needs to be done at least during the summer months before football season.

I used to be on the Nascar fan council for several years. I quit because they have made some bad choices in the last 30 years. I didn’t like it when they forced everyone to run the same car underneath with different bodies on them. I feel like the reason Dodge and some of the other brands lost the sales hundreds of thousands of cars is because there is not a true identity to being a “stock” car any longer anymore. It’s a race car with different skins. I have stage racing, because it brings drivers to push so hard to win a stage, they cause crashes which cost the owners tons of money. I hate the playoff system. The resetting of points takes away the advantage that the good things have built up all year long making other drivers equal points. It also gives people the idea of it just winning one racing each day again to a playoff for a square new. One of those can win the whole championship for the whole year but just winning one race. It is very unfair to the drivers and teams who worked hard to get thru every race all year. Nascar has lost many of the fans because the changes Nascar has made caused the fans to lose interest. The cars don’t need a belly pan because too much air under the car causes losing traction and cause crashes. Speaking of crashes, some of the fans like to see crashes, but they are very expensive. Drivers that just drive don’t care as much about keeping their car in one piece not to mention keeping themselves in one piece. Just wreck someone. It’s stupid. Take the old drivers like Richard Petty and Darrell Waltrip others that built their own cars and drove them and they helped to try to keep those cars going race after race. Too many things have changed for the worst in my opinion. They’ve taken out a lot of the bleachers and seating at racetrack because not as many people are coming. The track promoters used to do special things before the race, white motorcycle driver, jumping over cars or school buses. The best promoters are dead now, but that was a lot of reason for bigger crowds too. People got more for their money. I could go on and on. You know where I’m coming from. Thank you for reading

So I'm a fan of Nascar that began around 10 in 90-91. Huge Dale Sr fan and then, obviously, a Jr fan. Hell my name is literally Dale Jr. Swear to God. I can show my license if I have to. Anyway, around 2007-ish I was burnt out and sick of watching JJ win every race and every year. Few other things that all added up and I checked out. Didn't watch. Didn't follow it. Literally had no idea Jr had retired until I got back into it. I completely shut it out.
So couple years ago I peeked at a highlight or something. Saw that Chase Elliot was racing and saw a few other things that blew my mind. Like Truex being so good. Definitely wasn't that good when I had left originally. Slowly got more and more into it and now I'm all in again like before. Didn't realize how much I missed it.
I said all that to say this. I feel like I have fresh or newish eyes on the sport and stuff going on. Basically the drama. Every week it's a marriage, Nascar and Drama. Till death do us part.
First I'll say I actually like the playoff and the points system. The cars are fine. I'm no mechanic or car guy. So it's not a huge deal to me. Except the number not being in the center of the door. Wtf is that about?
First thing that I really notice myself paying attention to and constantly thinking about is the fans nonstop, every single thing that Nascar does getting a flood of whining and crying and bitching. On Sunday Twitter is a meca of Nascar HATE AND RAGE. Every single thing they decide and do is not just discussed and second guessed but it's ripped into millions of pieces. Glued back together and shot with a shotgun, rifle and pistol simultaneously. Then whatever tiny pieces are left get thrown in a blast furnace. And, from my POV, I am sick of it. Fans, drivers, former drivers and media need to back off by about half. Maybe more. It's kinda embarrassing. Even when they make the decision everyone wants, it doesn't matter because by the time that happens everyone has already spent two days eviscerating them. So casuals will only remember that everybody was ripping Nascar apart. They can never do anything right. The never even get an opportunity to get something right. Chill out. Let stuff play out. If you step back and really consider the insanely difficult decisions and everything else that Nascar deals with daily. Hell by the minute. Logistics=Nightmare. TV contracts and Negotiations = nightmare. Keeping the owners/drivers/fans happy simultaneously = Nightmare. Dealing with the multiple racing leagues for future drivers that all lose mega amounts of money = Nightmare. Constantly keeping up with technology and driver safety and fan satisfaction = nightmare.
I could go on for hours. Nascar is probably the most difficult major sports league, in the world, to facilitate at all levels. Authority. Marketing. Logistics. Tech. Sponsors. Charters. It looks like a job that would age you very quickly. Because no decision is ever correct.
Second, the drivers that are loved compared to who is hated, and the reasons for both, is corny and lame as F to me.
I used to hate Jeff Gordon. But I never found myself hoping he would get fired or suspended or punished severely for something everyone else does. I've saw certain drivers have things said about them and their family that I don't think I'd ever say about any person. Even an enemy. And the extremely bs reasons why they are hated. It's absolutely cowardly as F.
This is how I decide what I write on Twitter or comments. If I wouldn't say something to a drivers face, I should never say it online, where I'm safe and never have to worry about being held accountable for my words. It really turns me away from the sport when I see that crap. Fans can definitely ruin a sport. Would like to see fans be more aware of that stuff.
    3. Don't see it a lot but any and every aspect of DEI hiring (and I don't mean Dale Earnhardt Inc.) and /or woke garbage. Don't want it anywhere, any time. Nothing else to say.
I've got more but nobody is gonna read all this already. Maybe I'll write out a big thing and post it somewhere online. Not that anyone cares or has any idea who the F I am.

Start the races earlier. I agree with the 1pm start, across the board. I'm on the west coast and still fine with that. I'm good with watching the race at 10am-11am and still being able to do something for dinner, lol!

When these cars go sideways on superspeedways, they essentially turn into a wing. The bottom of the car is flat as a piece of plywood. The diffuser does not work, in a sideways orientation. 200+ mph wind being diffused through the structure of the car, is very different than 200mph wind under that plate of the undercarriage of the car. There has to be a way to get rid of the air that goes underneath the bottom pan of the nextgen, when it goes sideways, or we will continue to see cars go airborne at tracks where speeds exceed 200 mph.

Easy to say don’t over react, but shouldn’t safety be proactive rather than reactive. Does it take a car going into the stands or debris breaking through a catchfense and into the crowd for the right thing to be done?

I also hate the stage racing. I loved Nascar better when the points carried all year long. I feel like stage racing was only an experiment to draw fans, that is a bad thing. Don’t experiment with the lives of racecar drivers. I don’t like them saying it saying they need a playoff race situation. Teams that have run consistently good all year don’t need to have points reset to equal. One driver winning one race at the last race of the year winning the championship is a complete joke to me. It’s not fair to the teams that were leading the points all year. There were more Nascar fans in the 70’s and 80’s and part of the 90’s . I also don’t like that all cars have to be made exactly alike. People watched cars that looked very much exactly like the cars they could go buy from the show room and drive them. It’s like everybody knows the whole body and car underneath is basically the same, even though some might look like a Camaro or Mustang, it doesn’t as many people lots of car builders entering a race people rooting for different brands. I hope I’ve made some sense to at least some of you at Dirty Mo.

I keep saying it, you cannot defeat physics. I’m tired of NASCAR thinking they can out smart physics. The only way to avoid flipping is not racing at all. Logano saying last night at the Coke Zero 400 saying that they need to figure out how to keep the cars on the ground…stop it.
