@@arieson7715 I liked the fire effects from FC2 more though, looked a lot better. Why won't they use that more? Looks a lot more like the real flamethrower. Probably for the sales, yeah. In the name of the sales.
FarCry 2 in a sense feels the most like a FarCry game imo, the whole style of the series, you're dropped into a dangerous landscape and you have to fight you're way through, having guns break and malaria just adds to the experience.
completely agree this game screams its identity out through every single choice the developers made. A simple game by today’s standards but had an addicting concoction that made the gameplay incredibly immersive and visceral.
This game was so ahead of its time wtf. Golden days of Ubisoft.
Still better quality than many games out there today. Wish they'd remaster it but with how they're treating their IP's now I"d be a bit nervous they'd screw up something.

@@frogglen6350 Then ask for some animals if they ever do a true remaster. As for the 'enemy types' that's more of an RPG thing that farcry became after Farcry 3. Every farcry after FC3 has been 'place points here, fight this guy this way' etc.

Guns don't jam for 2 days unless you swim a lot and unless you are using Dart Gun. Swimming increases the chances of gun jam

@@Shuvojit69 I always keep 2 sets of weapons in weapons crate and with me. So when I get a gun jammed, I can change gun from a safe house. You have to change your gun after at least 2 main missions
Swapping guns while in store before every mission eliminates that problem entirely.

Yep, both games are the best in their respective series and their potential for the godhood was squashed by horrible publishers.

Whenever i think of Far Cry 2 i mostly remember driving, alot of driving.
you can just use a bus, plus you can really get into the atmosphere of africa by driving

At least in later games you have civilians roaming the world instead of just enemies everywhere, which is more realistic, outposts that don't have guards re-spawning when you've killed them, also more realistic and overall much better storylines. I can't say about any of the games post Far Cry 4 since I haven't played them, but the two after this game did have significant improvements as well as some drawbacks.
That bold action sniper reload animation still triggers me to this very day.
There is a lot wrong with the reloads in general. For some reason the Bolt is on left side on every weapon. On most it should be on right

zo roro Ubisoft was amazing back then , now it’s mostly all about corporate greed & less creativity or love for something. Some studios never forget where they came from like Rockstar Games & Naughty Dog & always stay consistent with quality . I do feel like Ubisoft has potential to be a great company once again but they gotta focus on showing real passion in making and designing games rather then producing half assed titles and recycled boring garbage every time. There needs to be actual love , passion & creativity for innovation for thier games to actually be certified classics that a gamer can come back to after years and years and still be amazed at how good the game was and every little thing about it. For example , I know I’m going to feel like Grand Theft Auto 5 was an incredible masterpiece of a game 20 years from now. 💯

I usually don’t like being nostalgic but this was the game I absolutely loved. Minimum HUD, no enemy awareness gauge and some details like fire spreading from back fire of rpg, fragile guns in Africa and npc characters who can actually die. At first glance, these factors might appear to some gamers to be frustrating. Although, you will soon realize these things that restrain your action makes you think about how would you go around this through the gameplay. Of course I am not saying Far Cry 2 is inherently better than any recent titles. But they can, however, still learn many things from this particular game.
I really wish they kept a lot from this game. Even being so old, the guns sounds insanely real and unique. Plus gun jams

It's funny how detailed the gun mechanics are. You hear every click and snap when you reload, you hear bullets when they fall per shot with different groud impact noises to suit the terrain. I don't think I've seen this much detail in the layer far cry games. You also really feel the driving when you go around in the bush esp in the jeeps
2 was my first and the least interesting to me regardless. But you have to admit ubisoft created an amazing experience back then
Yeah i hope far cry games realistics like 2 but ubisoft is fk noob for me. Image fc2 with f4 gameplay, more side quest, better story, map bigger, more animals, still same physics, and add gore blood. So fk awesome, ubisoft is the worst and worst developer i have ever seen, i absolutely hate and like them but they missed a lot of potential in their game
This game still looks amazing. It's hard to believe it came out in 2008. Also if anyone else is still playing to eliminate the gun jamming problem just go to the store whenever possible and swap for new weapons
This was state of the art for it's time, nothing came close to the open world, physics and gunplay. Love the 360 kill btw, with the guy exiting the car, made me chuckle. They need to make another one like this masterpiece. This was a true war simulator.

Why oh why can’t Ubisoft make a 2019 version of this style. I enjoyed fc5 but come on guys, you really felt this was a true “survival” game....plus the world dynamics function is way better than later fc’s. THIS WAS A 2008 GAME, REALLY UBISOFT?! WTF
Far cry 5 is pretty easy like fc 3,4 .when I look at Joseph. I never scared him. it's because I am the man that can kill the enemy with bare hand !!!. melee weapons is pointless to me. my body is strong enough to stand a rifle shot many times.
I can fight with the cultists over and over by never sick. never sleep. only the explosion can kill me in single hit.

this game was nuts when it came out honestly ! back when Ubisoft was ambitous, passionnated and innovative
God what a magnificent game, even by today's standards. I always thought the dialogue was a bit too fast and choppy and there wasnt much character depth, but considering some of the annoying ass characters you have to deal with in the newer ones, Im finding out I prefer the shallow impersonal interactions of the old days. You really feel like a merc who is traveling through the african bush all on your own, only once in a while checking back into civilization to pick up ammo and a new job, and only having prior experience telling you how to handle a situation. And even that can get thrown out the door last second. All they need in FC2 are some prowling predatorial animals thrown into the mix and I would be a happy man.
Yes! When I first started playing this game I was always expecting to get attacked by lions, baboons etc - but disappointed that aspect wasn't included. The game perfectly encapsulates the moral 'grayness' and self interest of being a Merc - when I got to the end of the game for the first time and learned my Mercs fate - I thought 'That figures' lol

I love this game. Brings back lots of memories. What I like about farcry is you can go anywhere and the game reacts to you. Only thing is the guns deteriorate too quickly.
The next Far Cry should be a remaster of this with updated graphics, better controls, and maybe some new weapons.

It's a pathing error by the AI. If you want to know what that looks like, try making an elaborate settlement in Fallout 4. You'd think the NPCs would know where they're going, but they don't exactly use their eyes. You'll often find them walking into walls and other such assorted shenanigans because they only get shown whats on the ground. In this case, the NPC only knows that the car belongs on the road - it doesn't know that it's supposed to avoid large rocks which aren't part of the road.
Of course in this video the NPC is trying to drive the car where there isn't a road, so the AI panics and tries again. And again. And again.

•The enemy communications giving away your position
• the jamming on guns
• the rag doll physics
• enemies dragging there wounded partners to cover

• the environment / openness of this map. The map doesn’t look auto generated like it was made predictably. This is a kick ass map
• your mini treasure map & tracker so your not finding shit instantaneously like in other games
• immersion, sounds & ambiance
•The way you heal (Bandages, Syringes, Pulling a bullet out, snapping bone back in place, etc.)
•the 2 hour real life time day and night cycles
• and NOW with these graphics mods, 60fps, 4K, etc.
10 / 10 game easily
The game did have some flaws but that’s expected because of it’s 2008 time era when produced.
If Ubisoft remastered this game in 2019, The game would generate millions in sales EASILY. Big $$$ without a doubt

Lots of Far Cry fans probably didn’t even play Far Cry 2. Either because it looked crap back then, didn’t know about it, or said screw it and never tried playing it. They could even add additional survival and new in game features in a remastered to make this game feel even more immersive and just make this game more remarkably fun to play fully decked out:
- needing to sleep
-drinking water / eating food
- Gas for vehicles
- Adding Quality Wildlife ( Lions, Tigers, Elephants, etc.)
- More attachments / Guns
- (Potentially if decided) expanding the map size to explore more
- Reputation bar
- More dialogue
- More random encounters
- making night darker and scarier (cool with night vision)
- Managing the respawn of enemies better
- More variety of enemy injure animations and better enemy patterns
- High resolution graphics
- newest 2019 engines, software, visuals & audio maximizing this game.
-Adding kick-ass multiplayer
(Co-op mode, battle royale, TDM, etc.)
- and more ideas Ubisoft thinks of
The game needs some fine tuning.
Mark my words though if Ubisoft chooses to remaster this game, and decides to put their full effort into making a best quality A+ version of this game after fully polishing it up,
(e.g Rockstar games developing Red Dead Redemption 2; 150 hour + work weeks from the staff developing the game,)
This game would be absolutely phenomenal!!! And for the PC version of a 2019 remastered FC2? You’ll have one of the best looking games of all time ever made.

Honestly maybe my favorite far cry game. The strength and rawness that Far Cry 2 had is something no other game in the series has since replicated. No hitmarkers or kill confirmations and a limited HUD are strong developer choices that made this game feel very immersive. The visceral gunplay and dark tonal choices such as experiencing Malaria and killing for blood diamonds with rusty weapons that could break in your hands give such a desperate feel to the game. Nothing tops going to finish off the last wounded guy at a checkpoint and having your gun jam.
The frames, mouse and keyboard did the job here! By the way 2 is the best Farcry game in the series ❤️

The way you play really reflects the guerilla style fighting that you would find in a conflict like this. You really do make this game look a helluva lot better than it already was.

Anyone who played Far Cry 2 knows just by watching how skilled this guy is
I forgot about the weapon inaccuracies in the game. The left handed bolt action rifle being used as a right handed rifle with a striper clip being used as a removable magazine in the bottom. The AK and Dragonov being completely wrong with the bolt, ejection, and safety selector all being on the left side. The G3 having a 20 round magazine modeled in game but having 30 rounds. Small details that really shouldn't have gotten overlooked. Still a great game though
To be fair it's highly implied these guns are all counterfeits and/or cobbled together from remnants of other conflicts. Might explain a thing or two about how fragile these guns as well.

Gameplay of this game was something else. If travelling was a bit like far cry 3, it would have been truly great.
It genuinely feels like an action movie but with a first person. With proper camera angles I think that would be worth a movie scene.

Far Cry 2 is the best in the series. Some of the dialogue/ scenes were shit, but the overall combat, espionage, day/ night cycle, was great, which is the core of the series. Since 3 it's become a cartoon version of its former self. There is still fun to be had, but number 2 had a formula that we will never see again in future games.
Similar to what Bethesda has done, it's been dumbed down for the masses. And that's coming from someone who still enjoys Skyrim, Fallout 4, etc.

The post's spawn trigger is based on distance, not time, move a certain distance from the outpost and they will spawn again no matter what the time has passed, stay the whole day on the outpost and they will not spawn on you as long as you stayed within the outpost area.
