    That spot needed to be redone. It was a mess traffic-wise and eyesore alongside the modern high-rises, museum and performing arts center. I like the design, fits in nicely.

    Looking forward to it being finished! While this project doesn't solve the overall traffic issues, at least it'll fix that bottleneck and make the area under the highway nicer. Just wish we could get a Metrorail extension alongside it.

      Was there any objection to spending that amount of money on a highway , I doubt it but if suggested to spend it on rail projects I expect there would be riots

      It doesn't matter what people want, cars don't belong in downtowns. They take up too much space, and there's nothing preferance can do to change that. @@user-hh4hc2lt6e

      It will do absolutely nothing. Forget about being a world city. It's never going to happen in that deadbeat swamp of Miami. The people down there are too ass backwards. If you really wanted to be a great city don't you think your MDT agency would have invested in it's existing transportation infrastructure ie Metrorail, Metromover, etc. ???

    Nice project. Would really like to see the city take on a massive project to address all the drainage issues throughout the county…that infrastructure is in serious disrepair and needs overhauling.

    • @trueanimationfan6542
      @trueanimationfan6542 Před 9 měsíci +4

      This doesn't help the whole county, but I should probably mention that there has been a very large effort in Miami Lakes over the last year to expand the drainage systems so that puddles from rain don't stay around for very long

      @user-hh4hc2lt6e Před 8 měsíci

      It’s easy to talk without ever actually knowing what’s going on. There are drainage projects all around always going on but it’s a slow effort.

Lol. If you knew about various areas and knew more than the average person on south Florida traffic as a whole, you’d know this bridge will definitely benefit the people in many different ways. But hate on it 😂😂 it’s more than just a bridge. It’s a lot of stuff they’re doing in that entire project.

    I'm from Boston and I was a kid when they were finishing the "Big Dig." As an adult I got to enjoy the parks, impressive Zakim Bridge and green space that the project provided the city. I live here in Miami now and I think this massive undertaking will be a great addition to the Downtown area. In my opinion, Miami needs more parks and green space and this will definitely provide that. I also think it will be nice that the bridge will be a PUBLIC piece of breath-taking art. It's not just another luxury skyscraper. It will contribute in a very special way to our skyline.

    Although it is nice now that the highway will be higher off the ground, especially through Overtown where it used to be so dark under there, widening a highway won't solve traffic. If only they could use that much money to improve and expand the Metrorail and Metromover systems to offer people a fast a convenient way to get around different parts of Miami.

    • @thedirtybubble9613
      @thedirtybubble9613 Před 8 měsíci +1

      That makes too much sense. The state is not invested in making sense anymore. With that kind of money, we could have improved upon MDT's existing metrorail, metromover, metro bus projects. Like updating the metromover stops or even fixing the busted elevators at metrorail stations.

    • @evials9123
      @evials9123 Před měsícem

      @@thedirtybubble9613 The amount of people who would use the metrorail compared to an additional highway is incredibly low and would see far less return on investment relative to the cost (it was actually estimated to cost *more* than this project). Great video. Researching for my channel has led me to intimately know each location. You're at where the Miami Herald building used to be. Before that building that used to be a regular neighborhood. Where the art museum is there were fuel tanks, part of the Port of Miami, which sat where the park is today. Keep up the great work. That upgrade to 836 has been a long time coming. You should see how it used to look like in the 1930s.

    Garbage looking bridge and also a complete waste of public funds. Why not improve the mass transit system for that money? The Metromover stops in Downtown Miami could use an upgrade as they haven't been touched in over 30 years. The elevators at the Metrorail stations are broken. But lets go spend $840 million on a useless bridge design. What a colossal waste of money. This is why Miami sucks.

      @@Jacobthehighwayfan I know. FDOT is a joke. Evidently they are disconnected from Miami's real needs but would rather "pretty up" the city with a stupid bridge. $840 million for something not needed. Do you know what $840 million in tax dollars could have done to improve this state's transportation infrastructure? High speed rail for one. If they wanted to invest so heavily in Miami, the least they could have done was provided grants to the MDT agency so that we can improve our existing transportation system like I said broken elevators, outdated Metromover stops, etc. Investing in an already broken platform ie I-95 is just useless but that's Florida for you. Your tax dollars. My tax dollars. Going to waste.
