The Story of Team Liquid: The Fans Who Became Champions

- Team Liquid didn’t start as a pitch to investors.
It wasn’t hatched in the mind of a marketing executive or designed to sell ads.capture a valuable advertising demographic.
It didn’t have any sponsors, hoodies or a team-specific hashtag.
No, Team Liquid started as a group of StarCraft players trying to improve - and to share that drive to improve with others.
Over 20 years of history, some of its fans became players. And eventually, some of its players became owners.
But the team never lost the things that had made it unique. And it held on to the people who had helped it evolve - even as the entire esports landscape shifted dramatically.
There’s no other story like it in esports.
This is the Story of Team Liquid.

Team Liquid is probably number one in terms of contribution to the esports community. As a big fan of Starcraft 2, I can't imagine this game without them and how much they did for it. Truly amazing guys!
I would know nothing about esports without their liqiupedia!
Nice one
😂😂
*liquipedia
One of Team Liquids biggest impacts in esports has to be Liquipedia, it’s so helpful, and as someone who constantly writes on it for Smash, it’s so easy and useful!
Kuroky finally winning his TI with miracle GH matumbaman and mind control in straight sets was an amazing moment
dont know why but liquid always gives me these close family vibes! thats why I love them so much compared to other clans/orgs.
liquid is the north american version of G2 imo.
I feel like they feel like 2 big families where you can both participate in the actions of both the players and coaches and it gives me joy to know that my 2 favourite teams are so nice to be apart off compared to other orgs.
It's true, they were so friendly and warm back in 2010-2012 in Starcraft 2
@@gdbluefirre6749 yeh. Team liquid and g2 are great orgs cos you feel connected to those orgs across all the esports .
Osee!
@@gdbluefirre6749 More like compLexity is the american version of G2
Liquid and C9 are the major pillars of NA esports. Can't overstate what they've done
Liquid is European(Netherland) esports based ORG
Liquid is European
@@ytanonymity3585 they are based in both the Netherlands and United States
I became a fan of liquid because of there valorant team in 2021 and I have to say with things like liquid + to discord servers to the streams there players produce it really is like a close knit family such good vibes I went from sort of supporting a team I liked to a full blown liquid fan! A great team, A great history and a great future ahead!
The first esport I watched was Pubg back in 2017 and that’s when I picked Liquid as my team. Since then I’ve gotten to enjoy their numerous victories in Pubg, Smash bros, rocket league, Rainbow 6 Seige and especially the incredible run of Liquid CSGO in 2019. It’s been too fun supporting this org, from the bottom of my heart “Let’s Go Liquid!”
Die hard C9 fan but cant deny liquids stamp on esports. They have created something amazing
I was a Fnatic fan before being a Liquid fan but bro the way they built Liquid is really great. You’ll always feel like a fan of what they are building.
They don't have to be your sole or even primary team: But if you are an eSports fan then you should be a Liquid fan. They represent so much of what the scene should be.
TL and their CS team was what brought me into watching CS and the entire esports scene...forever grateful
The time that i became a liquid fan is when the time of miracle from dota 2. I became their fan since then, especially in CSGO team
The most iconic moment of team liquid is , they have won the TI 🥰🥰
Another great episode. "The Story Of.." is really the reason I sub to this channel. Really hoping soon for an episode about Navi. Surprised that theScore esports still haven't released one yet, given the organization's history, reputation, and place in esports. I do believe it will be out in the future, and it's going to be a banger as always.
Team Liquid should totally sponsor the current chess World Champion and Norwegian Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen.
One of the few orgs that feel like a family.
Who have made history over the years.
100% of the BEST orgs of all time
Just in CS
Fastest Grand slam ever
First PURE NA team to be number one in the world.
Add on the rest of Esports.
Liquid is just a amazing org
Sry to say but liquid only got 2nd place @major. The first and only NA winner was C9 :(
@@Riscs i realized that as i edited lol.
I was thining of Stew mbmb
Liquid as an ORG is not an NA ORG. Founder is Netherland
@@ytanonymity3585 true but the CS team is counted as NA.
Most of Liquid is all around the world.
Liquipedia = best encyclopedia beside Wikipedia
For eSports information & scheduling history, they are really good at recognizing them
Wow. Am so inspired. This is what I would like for my esports team in Africa called "Tribe Simba Esports". Would really love this kind of support
I'm one of the lucky few who used to spec Liquid games live in sc;bw.
OG fan for life here.
Hungrybox and Kuroky winning their respective tourneys makes this even more beautiful also... The fact liquipedia exists makes this org hard to hate totally different from that NA org y'know ehem... That org
Which NA ORG you refer ? FaZe Clan ?
"The Story of" are me favourites videos on this channel. That one was a blast!
I've been a fan and am still a fan from back when their LCS team had Matt as support. I'm really happy to see them at a great place right now as an organization.
As someone getting into esports recently, I am so grateful for these videos to learn more about the teams i'm watching. Thank you and keep up the amazing work!
OG fan back during the StarCraft days. The days of The Little One(TLO), jinro, Huk, hero etc. The good ole days
Been a fan since the Brood War days of their website. LETS GO LIQUID!
I love that liquid make dutch players rise like Mitro I love that they were a Dutch fan org thanks from the Netherlands 🇳🇱😄
Liquid even have a mobilegame team from Brazil in Freefire.
Great video! Even tho its kinda sad that you didnt mention their PUBG Roster at all, they smashed the PUBG scene!
Awesome mini-doc. I’m a Liquid Stan, and never knew most of this.
Love it btw and would be cool to see C9 or other orgs like liquid have a vid. Amazing bideo as always
Been a TL fan since I started watching StarCraft in 2011, this feels great to watch!
Amazing video, thanks!
their facility in the netherlands looks sick
awesome banger videos as always!!!
I am a new TL fan purely because of Bjergsen. I always respected Steve but when Bjerg decided to leave TSM I realized I was a bigger fan of him than TSM. So now I am learning the history of my new Org. I still cheer Leffen over HBox but love the Puff god too.
great video guys stuff like this is your best content
One of the best org rightnow in Esport.
Love the atmosphere!
Thanks for everything, TL!
Incredible work.
MAN THAT "LetsGoLiquid'' gives me goosebumps
I had no idea that Hungrybox was part of liquid's sort of formation in esports, thought they had big teams before him too in multiple bigger games than Smash
This... I've been wating for
Biggest org in eSports given the number of games and number of teams they weild
most respected esports org/most earned esports org/ best esports org and best esports org at choking :(
Best org in the world 💙everyone is family
This team has made me fall in love with Esports.
Doublelift being with Team Liquid was the highlight of my high school years
Wow, this video made me realize how amazing TL is.
Kinda sad how small the SC and SC2 part is in comparison how big its for liquids history
Yeah that's activision blizard for you, fuck em
what a historic game for esport now died and killing the whole competitive genre
I was a TSM fan before became a Liquid fan when Doublelift left TSM and they added Xmithie then Jensen. I was happy when Jensen win his very first LCS trophy.
Team Liquid is like the New England area. They've produced championship teams in major sport leagues.
Thanks Josh!
Intro never dissapoints
Damn I thought this was about Liquid DotA 2
I am an Indian , childhood without a knowledge of gaming . But from 2020 i start playing mobile games . I never heard about overseas games like LOL, DOTA,STARCRAFT, WARCRAFT, STREET FIGHTERS, etc .. I just found out these pc games and about esport. I never knew about this team . But their story are interesting . I never play these games but these teams and legend gamers mention in this channel really catch my eyes.
Goosebumps when he said:"There`s no other story like it, in Esport
This is the story of Team Liquid!"
I'm not a fan of Liquid but I've been watching the team since HuK, Hero, Teaja in SC2 to TI and their top CSGO era. They are literally an important part of esport history.
A story about my favorite team, nice
I randomly got team liquids CEO Steve into my pubg squad a while back. The game went well, he was really chill and nice the whole time and we even got friends on steam and played some dota together. He seems like a genuine great guy, shortly after they won ti.
No cap as an Overwatch fan and to be more exact an NYXL fan I would love for team liquid to buy ownership of that roster because to be frank they could do it better I think.
Thats what i wanted from the score esport i am waiting for this
Been a TL fan since S2 Curse days bb
Do one on G2 please
Hopefully Liquid can make a good run in Cologne
I HECKING LOVE LIQUID
wow the hungrybox one made me tear up what a good team haha
Let's be honest, without Liquipedia & its community they build we wouldn't know a lot of Esports coverage history
Forgot to mention their Liquid Plus Site. A platform to reward hardcore fans and get to know them. Is an amazing strategy I haven't seen any other team do for their fans.
1 and only esports event ive ever been to was the spring finals in St Louis when TL reverse swept TSM, definitely a core memory for me
I became a liquid fan when M god joined the org and became a fan again when they signed ScreaM.
ive bought alot of liquid merch this year for some reason LOL
I know it's off-topic and late, nonetheless where is a video about DOTA major and incredible OG's run? You've created great content about LoL, CS, Valorant but not DOTA.
Sadly, none of them are "DOTA guys" I know Dimitri follows the scene but he mainly covers FPS like CS and R6. It's sad that Dota doesn't get a lot of coverage in this channel especially this year where there is so much hype and drama from each region. OG winning the major with a bunch of youngsters and a retired Ceb, Tundra with their unorthodox drafts. NA Dota steadily growing with TSM entering the scene and a new team, Nouns currently on top. SA dota who performed very well in the last major. CIS with the VP/Pure drama and thei region's current DPC tour where 3 CIS giants (VP, Navi, Spirit) and 1 talented and upcoming team (BetBoom) are in a 4 way tie for the 3 major slots
So much hype but rarely gets content from this page. Hope they can get someone to cover dota.
Ever since Colin McNeil left the score esports, there hasn't been a Dota 2 content creator for them.
Just blabbering here. Could it be that Liquid offering part-owner status to their current legends is a response to Kuroky leaving and making his own team back on 2019? I have a feeling that may have a hand in it. I'd imagine that Kuroky would have a greater impact on the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) scene if he's still partnered with the Liquid org instead of Galaxy Racer.
Kuroky is Germany though
about time you guys made something worth watching that took some actual effort.
I was a huge Curse fan in the LCS and then I stopped watching for 3 years. I came back and instantly found myself rooting for Liquid not even knowing they were Curse until 6 months later. Just destined to be a fan
Yoo Curse is such nostalgia
You guys should make a discord server, I'd guess a lot of people would be interested in talking to people also into esports
As someone who peeked into esports through FaZe's black ops 3 team- and then fully got into it once an introduction montage of their FaZe csgo team was posted (the g2 buyout)- it's cool to see other orgs' stories as I thought they were sort of NPC teams that just grew through placings which led to higher funding and financial worth. Aside from FaZe, I thought OpTic were the only orgs that seemed to have a family-like connection with their fans which led to them growing over time.
Im not really into the old esports games but it's cool to see how, even back then, the esports scene still grew and contributed to what it is today
Let’s go Liquid💙
Greatest org in esports!
Not gonna mention Liquid Apex roaster? 😔 Made it to finals in both LANs!
The story of the greatest chokers of all time
Nice video, you didnt mention Apex and RL rosters, guess u dont care bout those :(. Any ways great video wish to se more abour other orgs
You gon do a video about shroud joing sen?
Still worthy to be TI contending team.
cant wait for the liquid channel to comment on this video!
"players that didnt really trash talk"
Say hello to Peter! Our new adc for our LoL team
DoubleLift: "Everyone else is trash"
i think like liquid pubg also deserve a little bit of part in this
finally some good content
Liquipedia. Nuf said.
Team Liquid is the best of all esports orgs. There is no debate!
People shit on their rosters but they're literally the biggest esports name so lol
Dang your fast
Lets go Liquid
PLEASE MAKE "THE STORY OF G2 ESPORTS"
Team Liquid in a game that’s not CSGO: *STRONK*
Team Liquid in CSGO: Oh no, I’m choking. Pls stop being good.
I hecking love Team Liquid.
Can't wait until VR eSports is as popular as pancake games eSports.
TI7 liquid ❤️
