    Congratulations to those graduating. A long haul no doubt through your training. Having served in the Canadian Army I still vividly recall that day when I graduated and received my Regiments cap badge in 1979. There was just a wee bit of pride and I felt I was the cock of the walk. I did many things in my 20 year career one of which was a Recruit Instructor (1983 - 1986). What I see here is a formed group of men who are 1. Fit. 2. Well turned out in their dress, drill and deportment. 3. Proud of their accomplishments. May the years that you serve be good to you. I can assure you of this, that no matter how long you chose to serve those who where with you on this parade will be comrades, brothers and friends for the rest of you life. Well done and again congratulations.

      @@mshak395 I served in both the Royal Canadian Dragoons and Lord Strathcona's Horse (Royal Canadians) which are two Regiments in the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps. I started out as a Leopard C 1 gunner/loader and then went to Recce serving on the Lynx Command and Recce vehicle, the Cougar Armoured vehicle General Purpose and finally on the Coyote Light Armoured Vehicle (Reconnaissance). I released in January of 2000.

      @@oldesarge wow great journey :)
      I had a doubt regarding the Canadian and the British forces,can Canadian soldiers join a British Regiment,because I've seen movie's like Bridge on the river kwai march where a Canadian gets enlisted in the British army,that too in london.
      And one more,do you guys have junior commissioned officers(JCOs) in the army?

    • @oldesarge
      @oldesarge Před 4 lety +1

      @@mshak395 As I heard many years ago a Canadian can join the British Army...I know of one man who did just that. Former British Army can join the Canadian Army. As a matter of fact a recent RSM ( Regimental Sgt Major) of the Strathcona's had served in the British Army. He was an outstanding soldier. The rank structure in the Canadian Army is similar to that of many other armies and is broken down as follows, Junior NCO's, Senior NCO's and Officers. The term now in use is Non Commissioned Member's. That term was brought in in the late 1990's while I was still serving. Being a grumpy old fart I did not like it then and still refuse to use it...but that's me. :) The Junior NCO's are from Private (in in the case of the armoured corps Trooper) Master Corporal with the Master Corporal being the first leadership rank. The Senior NCO's are from Sergeant to RSM and the officers from Second Lt all the way up to the General ranks. Very similiar I would think to the rank structure of the Indian Army as the two armies share a common bond with the UK and have adopted many of the traditions of the British Army..and I for one am happy with that. I love the different Regimental histories and the different traditions that have been passed down verse the number system that one would see in say the American Army, the Russian Army and other armies of the world. But that is me given the system I served in. Long winded response but as you may be able to tell I have the gift to gab ( go on endlessly about some topic). Take care. Cheers.
