Here's a video tutorial, some of you have been waiting for, when laying out or trying to build winder stairs. I will show you an easier way to calculated the angles involved to create an accurate and evenly spaced steps in a angled tread type stair design.

We are required to have at least a 6" piece on the smallest part of the stairs. Would you simply draw a line where the angle is 6" and basically cut your box there? This would be for a 36" or 38" wide stair.
Awesome!!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Where did 1' 1 7/8 comes, I want how you calculate please
It came from the layout and design of other projects and I don't have a math formula for it.
This is a great method. The only flaw is that it assumes that the landing can be built perfectly square, which is not always the case, especially in retrofits of older homes. What then?
You could always start with square inside corners and not outside.
Don't the winder stairs need to be 6" wide at the narrowest point? These each come to a single point.
You would need to check with local building codes, to verify. You can use this method and simply move the lines in from the center point until you have the 6 inches. I also have a book on building winders at our website.

They do, to increase tread depth along the line of travel set up a geometric circle with the centre point outside the stair box.
