I grew up with LOTUS Esprit Turbo Challenge on the AMIGA and discovered it’s kinda sequel franchise Top Gear as an adult, I love Barry’s music and one of the coolest things to happen from my reviews was his kid came onto my Top Gear vid and explained why the intro sounds like MUSE’s Bliss.
Because Matt Bellamy loved the track and wanted to sample it so he rang Barry up.
Held off buying this on the PS4 because I knew it would hit Switch and I preordered it ASAP.
Can’t wait to play it tomorrow, the PS4 demo shown me enough to know I’ll love it 😺

i was gonna say this reminded me of lotus esprit turbo challenge on amiga..and XJ220. and remember vroom ? ( later known as nigel mansells world championship) , however..was always supercars II as my fave. awesome days
The first thing that came to my mind was Outrun, and considering that was one of my favorite games back then, I'll be sure to check this one out. Thanks for the review, the game was close to flying under my radar. :-)

I'm a little late to the game here - but this game is giving me crazy fun flashbacks to Top Gear! All that's missing is the weird effect at high speed when the street lines look like they go in reverse. Amazingly simple, but incredibly tough to master those reactive turns.

I didn’t really get to play Outrun much, but Chase HQ and Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge (both Amiga versions) ate up hours of my time as a kid! This is a definite download for me! Thanks for the great review 👍

This game was on my radar and was hoping it would respect retro archde racers. I'm glad it did as I have been wanting a game like this for a while. Good review and is something to treat myself to for Christmas

Picked this up off the back of this review. Having a lot of fun with it. It gives you incentive to go back and master the tracks (fast restart with X!) . Like there being a field of 20 too. Occasional frame gets stuck (around coins?) and got stuck on loading screen a couple of times, so hope that gets fixed in future. Music's great
Yeah I have noticed the very occasional frame drop since but the game is so much fun. Going for those super trophies gets very addicting. Glen
I have 29 hours in this on Steam after completing all the races and modes and from what I hear the Switch version got a few more modes and challenges so you will get a lot of game time out of this one! Also apparently you get color selection on your cars now. Don't think that was in the PC version that I ever noticed anyway.

Oh man I liked top gear 1 but loved part 2 and 2000, Jag XJ220 is another arcade racer that time has forgotten, I played it so much on Sega cd. Anyway, great review I will definitely have to pick it up.

Really great you reviews this because I add it on my wish list I was confused of I have to add this or gear club 2 that coming later but I really wish someday switch or Nintendo in future have great realistic car game to make them special like xbox and ps4

I loved Cruis'n Blast but felt there wasn't enough content to keep you playing. This game solves that and is probably my favorite Switch racer out of the ones I've tried. I heard they were working on a sequel and I'm hyped for it if it's true.
Getting Outrun vibes! And loving it!!! Upgrade races sounds like a good inclusion and seems fair not to have to come in first every race. This looks fun! Out of this and the road rash like motorcycle game last week what is better?

So I just learned of this games existence heard it was heavily inspired by top gear so looked it up and found this video well watched the video and downloaded from the play store this is now my new favorite game on the cell phone

Another similar game this reminds me of is the Cruisin' series. But looks really good. Especially for a game that I could pick up for a half hour or an hour. And at this price, it looks all worth it.

My dad, brother and I played the hell outta of top gear on the SNES, so after watching the first half of this video my pops and I downloaded the game and played like 6 races. Def scratched the arcade racing itch I had badly.

Just picked this up last night on the Switch, really fun, but the sound effects are SUPER quiet. I can barely hear the car. Checked the settings and the SFX are turned all the way up. Anyone else experiencing this?

I will regularly play this in handheld on the couch while the series x sits idle, something about this game is FUN which so many games nowadays are not. Just pure fun without the baggage of commitment dedication sweaty teammates endless mictrotransactions internet connection steep learning curve repetitive gameplay, not sure if it’s on the switch but the art of rally is another game that embodies all of this (except the internet connection part on the series x because of Microsoft bs, do I own it?)

Yeah, I agree that gear club is still quite ‘arcadey.’ I’ve heard the sequel is possibly going down the sim route a bit more but I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Glen
Problem is, joycons and pro controllers triggers are on and off, there is deadzone for sya 50 percent throttle

SwitchUp for sure. I love the colors in both though. Thank god digitally switching between games is soo easy on the switch. I go between warframe (omg the game is too big XD), okami (I love this game too much), Pokemon Eevee (gotta catch them all), and xenoblade 2 still (I’m missing one of the rare blades :’(. But I’ll have to add this to the list XD fml. And smash is coming out soon :’(

@@cmd2973 that's good. i hate how most modern racers these days force you to use the triggers for acceleration/braking and don't give you the option to change it. i do NOT find it comfortable nor intuitive. so if i can custom map the controls to my liking then that's good.

Online Multiplayer could have made this a really fun game.
Game is frustrating if you don't know braking system. Also strategy is there, in lengthy race you want cars with more fuel, in short race acceleration and handling matters if too many turns in a track. For straight use top speed and nitros. Nitro strategy too. Overtaking is fun and in multiplayer this should be more fun.
Edit f1 mode is there and that is competitive. Plus first person mode.

Loved your review but there seems to be loads of these games being released on the switch that you can play for free on a smart phone. Obviously it's loads better to play on a console with a controller but for a few quid to unlock extras on mobile version not really sure the digital price point is right.
If this game only scores 17 for gameplay and controls, what game will score a 20? What could the developers have improved to get to 20 out of 20?
I prefer games that don’t require online multiplayer. This game is attractive just for that.

For those that do not understand that car... Fiat Uno Mille is a shit car with simple maintenance, that is a prefered choice by many company smaller companies to give their employees on field service.
Specially telecom/electrical providing outsourced services for the big companies.
They have a "fame" of being always the fastest (and reckless) cars on the road, inversely proportional to the car 1000 liters engine and flimsy construction.
So it's a standing joke on some GTA mods made by brazilians to have the Uno Mille as the fastest available car... as this game is brazilian, they added the joke to it.
I'll wait for a reeeaaal man's racing game.

I don't really understand the hype. In the 90s this was the type of the most elaborated racing game. Today it's a simple mobile game. Too easy, 1st place on 1st try on most races. Boring.
I did not try split screen yet so that might be a bit more fun. But driving mechanics and track layouts are so simple and unrealistic this is fantasy driving and gets boring fast.
