Kubo and the Two Strings Analysis - Who is the Moon King's Wife?

After many requests, I present you with an almost indisputable theory about who the Moon King's wife is and why she doesn't make an appearance in the movie.
Please forgive my horrible voice quality. I'm both a little sick and battling with a microphone that's giving me guff.

it's possible that the armor would have been much more powerful during the day. yah know? being created by the Goddess of the sun. I found it odd that armor with so much sun imagery was used during the night.
My Theory States That,
The two sisters can only find Kubo at night because!
They have no eyes! And Because they are the goddess of the "moon"
They use the moon so they can see Kobu
Making the moon their eye!
{It's not really a full explanation because I'm too tired to complete it}

I had assumed that Kubo's mother was in that helples state because she was a creature of the night and couldn't function in daytime. I assumed that's why her sisters never appeared during the day, because their minds were numb untill the night (or at least they would be on earth, I imagine they would not have those limitations in their own realm)
That's really cool actually, it shows that they're both in a constant battle, Ameterasu cannot protect Kubo at might, and the moon king cannot take him during the day, it shows that they're constantly against each other to have their own way over him, they have endless capabilities and power, so why doesn't one use it to either protect or be able to see him in both day and night?
They're constantly fighting behind the scenes for that power.
It's the very idea of Ying and Yang (a Chinese concept, I know, but parts of Chinese culture made it to Japan - like the writing style).

Just a thought, but if the moon king was able to take over both night and day, then part of his plan would probably extend past just finding him outside, without the ability to go out and earn a living, buy food, medicine, etc, Kubo would either starve or die of disease since his mother is not dormant during the day, when the villagers are selling their goods, and she has little strength, so fishing may be out of the question, and that still leaves medicine
That leaves Kubo dead, meaning he can be taken
Kubo probably has to try to make a living when he makes the paper Hanzo, but the medicine he most likely can't get.
i saw a video recently of another movie that is connected to kubo and the two strings story, it could be relared to the mom because its the story of a moon princess found by a couple in the middle of the night alone and they raised her and when she was older the moon gods took her and put a tunic or a veil (dont remember well) to make her forget human feelings so she can live in the moon kingdom.
I think your talk about The Bamboo Cutter. In it Princess Kaguya is from the moon. I read or watched a theory that said Kubo's mom is Kaguya( or based on her)
It's an anime feature called "The Tale of Princess Kaguya", directed by Isao Takahata and animated by Studio Ghibli.
I think it's really cool that Yuri is seen as an 11 year old boy during the daytime but at night he's seen as a moon spirit and I also think it's cool that there's a scene where Kubo fines some sort of scroll and then he opens the scroll and shows a button a crescent moon and a cross which means there must be three regents out there
I agree that the armour and sword were a lure and certainly explains why it seemed like many people knew where they were. What I don't see is why match making would be a reason why the armour was ineffective.
The armour and sword are fine, it's just that Kubo doesn't know how to use them effectively from lack of appropriate training; what he does know is how to use magic through music. This to me tells that he is more of a magic bard than a samurai in a manner of speaking.
So when he confronts the moon god he fails when he tries to go toe-to-toe because he is a lousy swordsman, but succeeds when he relies on what he has been able to use all along, magic music.
The "Kojiki"--early catalog of Japanese mythology from the 7th century--is clear about Amaterasu (good news is she is constant and brings light and life to earth; bad news is we have winter 3 months a year because she threw a hissy fit when her capricious and unpredictable brother the Wind God offended her) but doesn't say much about Tsukiyome. So your theory makes sense as far as I can tell...

I do know about Yuri who is obviously his son but I don't know about his wife I mean I found this thing on the internet and it somehow happens to be a Japanese folklore Tale which has something to do with day and night it's kind of like how the movie has bat sort of day and night theme
Ok So amaterasu created the armor so that a man will find it but the armor isn't used for protection or fighting its just a way for her daughters to find love and be humanized and normal and not be turned into war machines like their father wants them to be

Ok so his mother is zoned out is that from hitting her head escaping with kubo or the whole sun goddess theory that the gods are pretty much inactive during the day but strong at night which I'm guessing is correct because the moon king and his daughters can only find kubo at night. If someone could explain this to me and put my mind at ease it's killing me lol
I think the mother is more disabled during the day because of the face smash - otherwise why bother showing that? Every little image, line of dialogue, and gesture should mean something if it's a good production company (and Laika is awesome with this!). But, we don't see the Moon King or the Sisters in the daytime, so we can only speculate - BUT but, if the Moon King's estranged wife is the Sun Goddess, then he obviously isn't disabled by sunlight.

How can Kubo outrun his aunt's if they could easily teleport since it's night and they are immortal (almost), and the Moon King could very easily appear in front of Kubo?

Greek mythology has a LOT of incest in it. For example, Zeus marries his sister Hera and Hades marries his niece Persephone.

Huh, I don't know Japanese Gods married their siblings. I mean most of the gods have done it to keep the bloodline pure the Egyptian Gods, the Greek gods, also the Pharaohs.
Yeah there's some crazy line in their mythology where the gods go "I have a pole, and you have a hole, so let's put them together," and that's the story of how Japan was created! lol
