How often do you have to clamp vs hooking a ground lug or finding it skinned by someone else?

Ever since I returned back to the 811 locating, I've noticed that some of the fibers have been peeled back. Peeling back the black sheeting eventually will cause that fiber to fault out. 90% of my locates, I direct connect; the only times I clamp are in M-H's, H-H's, or at the pole.

If you're not seeing the compass feature on your RD8000 receiver, it's possible that either your model does not have this feature or it may not be activated.

It helps me a lot to identify shallow cables in certain areas.

Your equipment remembers your last settings. So to change it to a higher frequency on your transmitter go to the F button to cycle through the frequencies.
