I’d like a series about how to diagnose issues with your lawn. What to look for, and how to fix them. And honestly, you could do a yearly rotation of what you are currently doing for your lawn to maintain it so well.

I just like to see what the lawn is doing in the spring by itself and go from there ,I dont like putting or doing a anything not necessary .

Would love to see a detailed video on how you fertilze your beautiful weeping spruce in your front yard.
So I have kind of a dual approach, I use fert spikes for evergreens and then I have a fertigstion system that I’ll run nutrients through my sprinklers, giving them a small pop of fert when it waters from time to time.
My main focus right now is getting a gameplan. It encompasses a lot of things people have listed below. A video on what to do, and WHEN would be super helpful. I feel when videos come out I am already behind on what I should have done. Last year I got hit with grubs, and was trying to take care of some fungus issues (mushrooms), and also tried to renovate some areas. I was constantly behind on when I should have done things, which set me back on the lawns progress last year. A video on timings: e.g. ... when is too early, when is too late, and how often would be super helpful. (I know it varies with region, FWIW I'm in UT, but I think a lot of us follow people based on the area that is similar to their own for this kind of content.)
Some ideas from my list:
My Current Plan (Spring 2023)
- Soil test (when is too early, there is currently snow on the ground)
- Treat for Grubs & Insects (starting when)
- Treat for Weeds (Tenacity) (every x weeks, starting when)
- Fungicide 2nd round. 2x 14 day in-between
- Wetting Agent (every 3 weeks) (I used pellets)
- When to renovate (I've got some areas I need to build-up, and re-seed
- When to run the "de-thatcher"
NOTE: Some of this depends on when our secondary water is turned on (for me it is May 1)

These are my lawn consults and coaching plans to a T. Lol I go over all this one on one with a client, building it specifically for their lawn. As NO ONE lawns have their own tricks and micro climate that change them from lawn to lawn.
With that said, I feel that doing more tutorial videos for clients that explain these things would go a long way tested what your looking for.

@@TheGreenerLawn everything I do in spring is to prepare for summer, everything in summer is to help it get through the next week 😅, and everything in fall is to fix what happened in summer and to prepare it for spring... I'm hardly ever thinking in the "now"...
But prevention & training is way easier than any other way.
Like you don't just go out and run a marathon, you train for it. ☀️
My real struggle is fungus. I know it’s not a real issue for you but it’s probably the biggest issue Midwesterners have in the lawn. Any help would be amazing!
I feel your correct, and it does and would fit into my consults / coaching clients well. Good idea. Only thing is, I’ll have to feature clients yards lol
I think the community is due for a new, unsponsored grass seed head to head comparison. Need someone to grow and show what type of grass quality emerges from Scotts vs Pennington vs local cheapo variety (ie an Ocean State job-lot store here in NJ) vs Johnathon Green vs Barenbrug vs Stovers vs GCI. Seed Super Store isn't functioning now, so they wouldn't be included.
I got my $130 Stovers Royal Blue platinum mix on Friday and am not totally enamored that its not of the 4 KBG elite cultivars that were stated on their website, and it actually has 0.05% weed seed despite supposing to be weed free. If I wasn't just overseeding into a backyard cocktail of grass, and if there wasn't data sheets on the 3 elite cultivars that were substituted, I'd probably be a little more upset...but Brooklawn, Waterworks and Boinaire seem to be pretty nice elite cultivars.
If you decide to redo the back yard. Im sure we would all love to see a step by step process of it.

Sprinklers lines were re ran last fall (recorded),
And this spring we will be, running the sprinkler heads, leveling (raising), putting in a flower bed, edging, and growing turf and hopefully keeping the turf around 1-1.5” (hopefully with a auto mower…)

Like the guy said earlier I too have a problem with Bermuda in my TTTF... If you could help make up a plan to get rid of the Bermuda. Like, What soil temp does Bermuda come out of dormancy?? So I know when to start applying stuff to kill it..... Thanks..
Lots of tricks, just have to find the lawns to perform it in… lol so as I find the needs I’ll show the tricks.
That humic trick has been a staple for rhyzome and stolen grasses for me since 2018 in my coaching clients lawns around the world. Lol, just sucks I couldn’t finish my series on it to show its results to folks lol. But because I didn’t show results doesn’t change its results for clients lol..
As I will be doing the Bermuda kill off, I will not get too deeply into this, but basically your waiting for Bermuda activation around 85 degrees air temps. Then using Ornamec to kill over the Bermuda….. BUT REMEMBER Ornamec is a GRASS KILLER, so if you go to heavy handed it will kill your lawn. There is a technique that is in the label that works (so it’s not just a myth, its actually labeled lol).
I'm in the lawn care business, and it's time to upgrade my sprayers. I need 3 of them: a 4-gallon backpack for broadleaf herbicide, a smaller one for Roundup, and a hose-end sprayer for humic acid and liquid aerator. Do you think battery/electric sprayers are worth the money vs. hand pump? Do you have a favorite brand(s)? I see some older videos of yours dealing with sprayers; I sure would appreciate an update. Thanks.

Hi Jeremy - Being located in the upper Midwest, our growing season is much shorter. I wonder sometimes about how best to develop an application schedule to get all the “things” down. Hope all is well!

@@TheGreenerLawn Hi Jeremy - in general I think of our growing season from Mother’s Day through Halloween ( I will email a summary from Greencast). I tend to apply fert at about 1-2lb per 1,000 square feet for the season. I tried spoon feeding GreenEffect last year and have previously used GreenePunch. I also apply the Biostimulant pack and/or your “Powerhit”. You have always been great with providing assistance so, thank you for considering this topic!
I have a patch of grass in my lawn that is clearly a different type of grass (vining vs clumping). How do I get rid of it and reseed the spot to blend better with the rest of the lawn?

It seems you guys got a lot of snow and rainfall this season; how do you think this will benefit water restrictions and prices for your region of the country?
We had the wettest winter on record. They will now not say we are in a drought, but they will say we need to save the great salt lake, so we need to not use water for grass… we are on secondary water, so no real effect to costs…

We had a tree and rock scape in the corner of our yard we converted to just grass. That corner of grass is not only a different color/type of grass but dies and yellows, and stays that way all summer. How do I revive it? (Normal fertilizer and watering doesn't help)

Was anything buried beneath it? Rocks or shallow roots or any thing that could be by the surface?

@@saltcreekammo ahh got ya. You’re probably (I’m pretty sure, but seeing it will confirm when not under snow) dealing with sun surface heat from rocks and roots being close to the surface and radiating heat. If you can promote deep roots this spring by bot watering till stressed and then watering reply and infrequently, you light be able to get roots beyond this issue. If it continues, as this is the best step; you would have to entertain digging the material out.
Start with root establishment, what type of soil is it where it’s not rocks or roots?
It would be nice if you knew, what I didn’t know, that I know you didn’t know that I knew.
